About Mooncup:

Mooncup began with a clear goal: to give people a healthier, sustainable way to manage their periods.

Back in 2002, we launched the world’s first medical-grade silicone menstrual cup, pioneering a movement that put health and the planet first. We saw an industry where profit came before people, ingredients were hidden, and plastics reigned, so we challenged the status quo.

Now, we're on a mission to become the world’s biggest sustainable period care brand. We’ve just launched Mooncup period pads into Sainsbury’s, Boots, Holland & Barrett and Look Fantastic. We’re also partnering with workplaces, gyms and hotels (like Canva, Danone, Third Space, Gymshark and Claridge’s) to offer free period care in bathrooms.

We use only science-backed, body-safe ingredients because your period products should work with your body, not against it.

I bought this after seeing an advert and reading an article about the product. Although the product works, my periods are very heavy on the first and second day so I still leak even with this item on but I can use it for the rest of my cycle no problems and I would feel comfortable do activities such as swimming. I found the mooncup very easy to insert however it is much trickier and messier to remove, you need a bit of room (to squat) and so you couldn't do so anywhere (e.g nightclub), but having said that you don't won't need to remove it as often. Overall I think it's a good product, it's re-useable, it's healthier and can be really useful, but i'm sorry to say it's not bye bye to pads and tampons

I have mild endometriosis and I am unable to use tampons. I thought I would give the moon cup a try since my friend highly recommended it. She was right, it was easy to use and was much more comfortable than pads. However, since you just take it out, clean it and put it back in my body started to reject it and cause me abdominal pain and bloating. I guess it would be like if you kept a tampon in for too long. So, I would just advise women with endometriosis or any other female issues, be careful using this and I won't wear it all the time.

First of all I'm new to using menstrual cups - and as mentioned in another review there are websites out there that give you a lot of information and reviews about the different cups available. (There are WAY more cups available elsewhere than are for sale on Amazon). If I was reviewing menstrual cups in general then this would be a 5 star review. I've given it 4 stars as the Mooncup isn't the correct cup for me.PROs of cups:They are SO much more hygienic than tampons. I never thought I'd say this but my first time using a cup this month and I have felt a lot cleaner than usual with no odour or anything to remind me I'm having a period. Yes you have to get used to inserting them, removing them and emptying them - but once you've done this they are just so much better to use than pads or tampons. I don't have to constantly dispose of dirty tampons. I don't have to tolerate the horrible piece of string in my underwear. I'd say I had to change the cup every 4 hours on my heaviest day, but otherwise could leave it for 8 hours or so. Also when I found the correct cup for me it really wasn't very difficult to remove and insertion now is a piece of cake. For reviewers who've said the cup couldn't cope with their heavy flow - there are cups with higher capacity than this available on the market - maybe worth a try.The reason this particular cup didn't suit me that much was that it sits quite far in and as a result it was hard for me to remove - other people don't always have this issue because they are 'shorter' in there and the cup sits further out, with them having to cut off the stem. That wasn't the case for me. I've ended up using a cup that is longer in length - it has a long body and is soft and I have had very little difficulty removing it from first use.I feel really liberated that my monthly period is going to be less of a drag than usual. Apart from taking the thing out and emptying it - you really wouldn't know you had your period. You can't feel it when it's in and it's going to save me a fortune. So two fingers up to the council who are only collecting our bins every 2 weeks - I will no longer be filling the bin with my sanitary waste!I'd say if you're thinking about trying these out - look at other websites to do do more research. There's a lot of good advice out there as to the pros and cons of which cup to get. It may take a couple of cups to find the perfect one, or you may be lucky on the first try. I will never go back to using tampons or pads again - hooray!

This is good but only if your near a sink when emptying as its a little messy when taking it out. If I am at work the sinks are outside the toilet cubicles and you have no choice but to pop it back it without washing it. Its better to insert wet and warm for comfort. I still managed to leak at night when I am using it so I still where a pad at night as well.

I don't understand why these aren't advertised. Most women I know had never heard of mooncup until I told them about it. It is so convenient - no more panicking that you might "come on" or having to take your bag or a tampon up your sleeve into the toilet. You can use it in anticipation of your period with no fear. I suffer from heavy periods but find the mooncup very able to cope (I just empty it more frequently on the heavy days), and the cramps I get are now nowhere near as painful since using the mooncup. As it lasts for years it will save me an absolute fortune in tampons that are now not going to landfill. It is a little fiddly to get used to at the start, especially as it sits much lower than a tampon does. I have completely cut the stem off mine and once it's in I can't feel it at all.It will be fantastic for travelling and camping or festivals. It is so discreet. I am delighted with mine. I honestly don't know why as females we aren't told about these at a younger age. I will never go back to tampons and when my daughters are old enough I hope they will see the benefits in mooncup as well.

I have wanted to try this product for some years, however, have only just done so; and fully agree with what has already been said. Truly liberating once you get the hang of things, but not exactly pleasant to use. I did avoid using it during my heaviest days, as work really isn't the place to be cleaning it etc - I really can't see that a bottle of water would be enough to make me feel clean and comfortable enough to re-insert it. So, if you're going to have to rely on public toilets, or those with a hand basin outside of the cubicle, I'd think twice on those days. If however, you're lucky enough to be able to leave it in for a working day, then go for it!Initially I found the 'grab stalk' uncomfortable, but quickly got the confidence to trim it to the right length for me. There is enough left for me to pinch with my nail to gradually bring it down. I only experienced one or two minor leaks, but positioning comes with confidence...you'll soon get to know whether it feels right or not. You'll get to know what your innards are like quite well! The biggest benefit for me, was during the latter stages when you need something, but tampons are too drying. The Mooncup was ace at this time :) Being free from tampons is fab!

This is a fabulous product - I really wish I'd bought one years ago. Hygienic, convenient, easy to use, comfortable. I cannot find fault with this - I bought it for my holidays, really as I dislike using tampons as I find the uncomfortable and can dislodge themselves when you go to the loo, so over the last few years I've moved over to towels wherever possible. But as I was going away where I'd be swimming and spending a lot of time travelling - I was only taking hand luggage so it's compact size was an added attraction, I decided to gtive this a go and I will never look back. I made the mistake of first inserting it like a tampon which is too far, it sits really low and you really cannot tell it is inserted. As others have commented, you will most definately need to trim the stem. Every woman should try this - I cannot beleive how fantastic it is and apart from getting used to inserting it (which did actually only take me 2/3 attemtps before I got the hang of it), it really is the ultimate solution. I have done nothing but sign it's praises to all my girl friends.

Got a moon up after having very heavy periods post-kids. Much better than sanitary ware tho I find it still can be a bit leaky - I think I have it in the right position (!) but may be user error. But would def recommend trying one
