About Mooncup:

Mooncup began with a clear goal: to give people a healthier, sustainable way to manage their periods.

Back in 2002, we launched the world’s first medical-grade silicone menstrual cup, pioneering a movement that put health and the planet first. We saw an industry where profit came before people, ingredients were hidden, and plastics reigned, so we challenged the status quo.

Now, we're on a mission to become the world’s biggest sustainable period care brand. We’ve just launched Mooncup period pads into Sainsbury’s, Boots, Holland & Barrett and Look Fantastic. We’re also partnering with workplaces, gyms and hotels (like Canva, Danone, Third Space, Gymshark and Claridge’s) to offer free period care in bathrooms.

We use only science-backed, body-safe ingredients because your period products should work with your body, not against it.

Good product but is difficult to remove as you have to fold it out and that can be messy and somewhat painful at the exit point. I have just started to use it and it was leaking during the first few days of the flow and don't fancy using pads as well. Stem can irrititate the internal delicate parts and you only start to feel it after the end of cycle. I also had a dull backache and tightness around my kidneys possibly because I was tensing alot to remove it. Not all women feel comfortable with removing the stem as they may not be able to reach it easily. Have to cut your nails right back every month or it can be painful and can damage your cup. Instructions tell you to rotate it to form a seal but there is no room to rotate it, so it is a bit of guess work. On the whole it will give you complete freedom of movement without the need for bleached sanitary towels or tampons. If I write a review in six months I might absolutely love this product like many woman do. It's still early days yet.

I had great expectations for this exciting little thing. I'm sorry if my review is a little graphic but I think it is needed.I have always managed with tampons and had no complaints until I hit menopausal transition and my periods became so heavy that I felt I could not leave the house for longer than an hour (for 2 days a month) for fear of flooding. Tampons were no longer doing their job. The Mooncup apparently can hold 3 or 4 times us much blood as a super plus tampon. I was desperate for help and I bought it. I found it very difficult to use. I cut half the stem off and had no difficulty inserting it but it always leaked and I had terrible difficulty reaching it for removal. I still had to use a thick pad in order to feel safe. I managed to protect myself for longer than with tampons but the experience of removal was most difficult and unpleasant.I contacted Mooncup for advice. They really should put in the instruction leaflet what they told me in email! A big thumbs down for not doing so. The trick is NOT to insert the cup too high. It sits low in the vagina and they tell me you should only have enough room to insert half a finger nail before you touch the Mooncup. I believe it is a common error which people make pushing it too far up. The panic and terror when you realise it's stuck is awful. So my advice is to keep it low and take the stem off almost completely. The way I have it now, I can insert my thumb and forefinger and reach it quite easily, pinch it, move from side to side to release the suction and then it comes out easily. If it has moved further up than I placed it, I push down (as if going to pee) and this moves the cup down sufficiently to grab it.That sorted, there are other disadvantages. It is very messy! Always carry moist tissues with you and have them ready when you remove the cup. Also emptying the contents down the toilet, I find it takes at least 2 flushes to get rid of it every time. Sometimes I need the loo brush too. I would definitely not feel comfortable using a friend's toilet - we all know that some toilet cysterns are slow filling. Imagine standing there waiting to flush it a second time and then maybe a third if you need a toilet brush too when people are waiting for you! Not good. Also, beware of squelching sounds on removal of the cup! Oooh dear, a quiet public toilet, at work maybe, is not the place you want to be squelching! At home, no problem, the routine works well.On the plus side, this little cup certainly buys me time if I need to go out for 2 or 3 hours on my heaviest day but I do still wear a thick pad to feel doubly safe because it leaks slightly. I certainly would never attempt swimming like some of the ladies here. For me, it is serving its purpose allowing me more than an hour to leave the house to get some chores done on my heaviest days. I am grateful for that and it is the sole reason I purchased it.

First things first - be sure to check with the seller to ensure you're buying the Mooncup UK/MCUK. It is NOT the same item as the Moon Cup sold in the US by Keeper. The dimensions are different because it is not the same cup or manufacturer. I purchased mine from International Wholesale and it was Keeper's Mooncup being sold as Mooncup UK. (They kindly accepted the return as it was unused and they were unaware of the difference). That being said, Mooncup UK is one of the best products I have ever came across. I'm not new to the cup movement - I've been a faithful Diva cup user for over 2 years but never had a leak-free experience with it. Mooncup UK is a shorter cup and for me, a better choice in leak protection. I find it to open up much easier than my Diva cup as well, and I think because the silicon is a bit stiffer. Once in, you won't feel it. No leaks. No odor. No worry of TSS. No worry of having to change it as often as tampons (every 8 hours is all I need even on a heavier day). No more discomfort/dryness from tampons. No chemicals against your skin! It's a much healthier alternative to tampons and pads. Need I say more?

I was a bit nervous about buying the moon-cup as it's quite expensive and you can't try it out to see if you'll get on with it. I am delighted not to have to dispose of sanitary stuff anymore and find this liberating!- It did take a little perseverance to get used to it though!

I wish i had found out about this product earlier. I found this product very easy to use. It was more comfortable once i cut the tail of it right down though. No leakage,i felt very relaxed about wearing this, unlike sometimes when using a tampon.

well what can i say...after years of suffering with the monthly visitor...to actually find something that is amazing after all this time, words can not express how i feel about it alli can remember as a young person being mortified with having to wear dr whites...it was like an hammock and then the progression with smaller pads and finally tampax and now to being a bit older and having to wear pads and tampax together just in case, to actually find out about the moon cup and what it does was amazingi have to admit it took me several months before i took the plunge and bought one and now i wouldnt go back to using anything else, its not as yucky as you think its going to be and you do need to give it a chance, i did struggle with it at first but i contacted mooncup and got some very helpful hints and tips on inserting and also how to get it out again...believe me it takes some getting use to but hey after 30 years of using the others after only one month i would not go back now...my problems started a couple of months ago when i started going out cycling with some mates of mine...and when i had my period i could not believe the mess i was in when i got back and that was using pads and tampax, the mooncup takes all the worry away as it catches everything no mess how amazing...means you really can wear white /light trousers again and never worry...i realise also that as a middle aged person my periods are again changing and getting heavy but again the moon cup does what it says catches everything where before i was using tampax and pads and changing every hour i no longer have this worry, also where i work with men i dont have to hide things in my hand and go running off to the toilet anymoreits all so simple nowso give it a go and if at first you dont succeed with it give it some time after all you have been using to other products for years, it just takes a bit of practise so be brave and take that plunge you wont regret it...i dont

I was a bit dubious at first, but having just become allergic to tampons and given how much I hate towels I thought I'd give it a go. A lovely mid-wife friend recommended it to me and after a lot of research I bought one. That was a great decision! Fitting it was a whirl and did not cause me any discomfort. Unlike tampons which hurt or leaked, this was comfy, unnoticable and I didn't have to pack my bag, coat or car with any 'supplies'. So no embarrassing "What's this mummy?" moments from my 2 year old.It is a bit of a wierd sight at first when emptying it, but I think it's much nicer than the alternatives and I find it much cleaner. It is not messy at all. The thought of it is worse than reality. I only wish I'd used it sooner. My final thoughts: Get one. Get rid of the disposable stuff and not only will your body, pocket and planet feel better, but you won't have to empty your bathroom bin as often either!

I wish i'd known about these years ago, imagine how much money is saved by not having to buy sanitary wear, and also how much more environmentally friendly it is. Why don't they promote these in schools when they tell you about the other products available as I'd never heard of it & I'm 40 - my 21 year old daughter told me about them, so I purchased this with an open mind & and was a little skeptical at first, but was quite pleasantly surprised.I thought it would feel uncomfortable but it doesn't - you have to cut the end of the funnel type thing to suit you. It does take quite a bit of getting used to as there are times when I've thought it was inserted correctly and I've leaked quite a bit, but then other times I've felt or thought that it wasn't quite right but it's been fine. I tend to always wear a panty liner just in case.I find it easier & safer to remove whilst sat on the toilet so you can empty the contents straight down the loo, otherwise it could be a bit messy - although I did once drop mine in the toilet - but luckily I was at home & the loo was clean! - just rinse it out each time you empty & pop it back in - Simple.I'm only in my second month of use but will continue to use for as long as necessary.I'd definitely recommend this regardless of how old you are.
