“As an absolute beginner I found the website very difficult to navigate as you need some level of knowledge to be able to search it and get the correct items. It’s not easy to browse “other products you might like”. I appreciate your site is likely to be a proprietary piece of software so difficult to change so maybe you could direct people with some blogs about products etc. Not a great experience.”

Thank you for your review, as with most sites the "other products you might like" tend to be random products and have very little relevance to what you might want, when possible we do add products manually that are 100% relevant to the products you are looking at, but that still doesn't mean it's the product for you. We have invested a lot of time in the search option to make sure people can find what they are looking for easily, and there is also the drop down menu which is set out so you can narrow down what you are looking for to categories, and then filter by manufacturer, and we do have lots of reviews that do say the site is easy to navigate. If you can't find what you are looking for feel free to email or call, we are always happy to help

“Order processed quickly. Fast delivery and we'll packaged. Prices a bit on the high side but I've found cheaper alternatives since. So I know they can deliver quickly.”

Thank you for your review, unfortunately the Royal Mail strikes are causing delays that are out of our control, looking at the tracking your order has only been 3 full working days once strike days and weekends are taken out, hopefully it will be with you soon.

“I ordered two kits the first was a takom jeep and the second, a starter kit for my nephew both were sent in a timely manner i was very pleased until I opened the parcel the takom kit was a perfect fit in the box unfortunately the other kit was placed on top and then squashed to tape the parcel up . The starter kit does seem OK inside but the appearance of it did leave me a little disappointed.”

Sorry to hear you had damage to one of your products, this shouldn’t happen, we always try to send orders out securely packed to minimise damaged, but if the box is over packed before leaving us then there will be damage. The person that packed your order is a new starter, it’s clear further training is needed, which will be addressed as soon as possible. We will be happy to get the damaged kit back from you and send out a replacement, please email us to arrange this.

“Slow delivery and expensive delivery cost. Only purchased as needed it quickly and Scale Model Shop had it in stock: about 4 day for a pot of paint that somehow cost more to post than the actual product cost 2 or 3 pound for first class deliver, really!!!).”

Thank you for your review, I've checked your order and you didn't select 1st class delivery, you selected standard, which is typically 2-3 working days, while it might have only been 1 pot of paint it's still classed as a parcel by Royal Mail and that is what you have been charged, If you posted the same item via Royal Mail, they would charge you £2.85 for a non-tracked service, ours is fully tracked and we have to charge VAT unlike Royal Mail, as it's postage and packing there is a small cost for that too, we haven't had a price increase for a long time, even though our prices have increased, and it would have cost you the same to buy 20 pots as it would have bought 1

“Duly rec'd what I had ordered in good time. Is it too much to ask for a copy of the receipt to be enclosed with the contents? Every other vendor I have dealings does this without demur.”

Thank you for your review! we appreciate you taking the time to do this, we try and do our bit for the environment, we use as much recycled packaging as possible and not use more paper than needed, we also run a paperless system for picking and packing single orders, as your order only contained one items we wouldn't have printed out a picking sheet for it, most people don't need a paper print out of their order, it would only be a duplicate of the order confirmation that is emailed to you twice, also if you create an account on our website your order history is stored there. If having a hard copy is important to you then drop us an email after placing your order and we can put one in

“Bought a display case bus wasn’t clear in advert what size was. Scale was correct but not the size for my model! It isn’t big enough. Stuck with wrong size case!”

Thank you for your review, we send all our parcels tracked, this gives our customers a better service as they are given priority within the Royal Mail network, we would have charged you the same to send 2 or 20 paints, they would both be classed as parcel size, if you sent a parcel via Royal Mail they would charge you £4.74 for the tracked 48 parcels service, our shipping prices are displayed at checkout before you pay, 3 stars is a little unfair when we are clear in what you pay before you even have to put your details in.

“Overall the products are good except the 20g Roket UV Deluxe Material. It’s already almost cured inside the bottle which I can’t use it. I don’t know is it the product’s original design but I can’t squeeze it out from the bottle, even I use a stick to help, it barely take out some solid out which is no use to.”

Thank you for your review, Tracked 48 is a 2-3 working day delivery service, although it's not a guaranteed service, I've checked the tracking and it was 4 days, so a little over the estimated time, Due to the time of year delays are to be expected, we do our best to get orders out quickly and correctly and sometimes our couriers do take longer than we would like, this is something out of our control.

“I tried to combine 2 orders I made within 10 mins of each other only to be told the 1st one had been sent that morning. I made the orders in the afternoon. It was entirely my fault but I had no offer of assistance at all. The products were top notch as usual but I paid 2 lots of postage and both items arrived together!”

“I've always had nothing but praise for SmS, although never impressed by the delivery charges and the long time an order takes to arrive. I do however like the prices in general, the website and their strict stock policy. My grudging admiration inevitably took a nosedive however when they emailed me to say an order had been dispatched on the Monday, it wasn't however until the Friday the GPO acknowledged receipt of the package and a promise to deliver it the next day, a Saturday (they didn't deliver it until the following Monday but that's another story). Nagging doubts to say the least!”
