“Payed for next day delivery and didn’t arrive, phoned the office and found out that the order didn’t get processed in the warehouse. I purposely payed for next day to finish a job I was doing. Also didn’t get refunded for the next day delivery I paid for too.”

As we mentioned on the home page of our website that next day deliveries may not be possible due to the current pandemic situation. However, we are still managing 95% to deliver next day. “I received half of my order back in earlyApril with a note saying the other half was out of stock and to follow. I phoned last week chasing the missing half, and I was told someone would call me back. So far nobody has got back to me. I appreciate the covid pandemic has affected supplies, deliveries etc., but I did expect the courtesy of a promised callback.”

“GOOD: - They had a massive choice and I was able to order a good cross-section of products. - They supplied what I ordered....more or less (see lower down). - When I called Customer Service to enquire where my parcel was (because it was taking longer than promised) the lady on the phone was very pleasant and very helpful. "It should be with you in the next 20 minutes" she said. "Aye, right" I thought to myself, believing I was being fobbed off. 20 minutes later the doorbell rang and my parcel arrived. So to be fair they did deliver what I ordered within a week although not as fast as promised. NOT SO GOOD: - Ironmongery World don't have a consistant understanding of the word 'pair'. I ordered a number of hinges as pairs. A pair of hinges should be two, correct? A pair of socks is two, a pair of trousers has two legs, a pair of....well you know how it works. So when I ordered a pair of strap hinges I expected to receive two of them, except only one turned up. It's a little difficult to put a lid on a wooden box effectively with one hinge. Sadly nobody at Ironmongery World questioned it so I now have two hinges in different styles that I can do nothing with, unless I order another of each of course. Disappointing. - Delivery was longer than promised. In case you haven't already figured this out, "Free delivery" actually means "We've done a money-saving deal with a courier where we pay a lower rate and they decide when it gets to you." And if you live in northern Scotland that means it's a lottery. That said, the delivery was only slightly longer than promised and they didn't simply cancel the order, so fair's fair. - No valid tracking number for the parcel. - This one is not a criticism of Ironmongery World specifically. Everything they sell (it seems) is made in China and at the lower end of the quality scale. Britain used to be the manufacturing powerhouse of the world, but now we just import cheap ironmongery stamped out of thin metal from some province of China. Such a shame.”

“The door knobs look beautiful but I have found a few problems. 1 The bottom screws are a bit fiddly to fit as the knob is in the way of the screwdriver. 2 The door knobs are quite wide and so to fit these in place of previous door handles I have had to chisel some wood from the doorframe to allow the door to be open and closed. The old shafts need to be used as the ones supplied are not big enough to work the door stop. Otherwise these are beautiful handles which I love very much.”

“The irony of bring asked to provide a review about a product and customer service I never reviewed. Sure thing after, I never received my items. I never received any reply to my email. If I could give 0/10 I would because on the whole you failed at every turn to deliver any kind of reasonable customer service. A quick email to say you had supply issues or the items were going to be late would have sufficed but instead it was just a stoney silence. Only wishing I'd read the other reviews before I ordered and saved myself the trouble.”
