About Bell Group:

Whilst we are considered a market leader, our Group remains a family owned and operated company; George Bell, our Chairman and Founder, set up his own commercial painting and decorating company in April 1984 – Collins and Bell Ltd – operating throughout the central belt of Scotland. Since that time the Group has grown through acquisitions as well as organically; this has resulted in developing a strong network of services, which have been designed to integrate on a national, regional and local basis. Our key strength as a business is our team which we have developed over the years; this is partly thanks to the comprehensive training programme put in place for all employees and our commitment to respecting individuals.

“Overdue Payments Would someone from Bell's head office have the decency to contact me, I have been chasing 3 overdue payments for a week now and no one apart from the regional managers communicate with me, they cant give me any answers and have told me If you wish to discuss the matter directly with Head Office, their telephone number is 01236 766878 – they may be able to advise you better than myself. No one answers. If I do not get a response today I will have no other option than to forward the debt onto a debt collectors which will incur additional fees.”

“This company is terriable. Get fobbed off weeke after week. Have to chase ups constantly!! Since january 2026 still waiting for stuff, getting ignored week after week. Fed up how long its dragging on.”

“Absolute total and unmitigated incompetence for over 2 years. Over 70% of my scheduled repairs with them through my housing organization have been no call no show. Unbelievable how they are still in business when they are incapable of running a repair company. Workers have turned up without the necessary equipment needed to do the job, others arrived with to do work that wasn't even broken as the office gave them the wrong information. 3 appointment for one repair were missed back to back. It took them 1.5 years over 6 visits to fix a door that their workers broke by not hanging properly! An absolute complete and utter joke of a company not fit for putpose!”

“Your Van Drivers are absolute idiots, no thought or considerations for local residents. If i don't receive a satisfactory outcome it will become a police matter. I only hope they can paint as they certainly cant drive. The only bright thing on the horizon is Joan the transport manager, she has been really good and empathetic about the situation.”

“Alls I know about this company is that id avoid it like the plague. I don’t have any issues with the workers as im sure they work hard and earn their money but as a company they have turnt up in my close and installed two containers which have been fenced off in a corner and is now a pig sty , at first numerous veichles would turn up early of a morning blocking most of the residents in whilst they collected materials ect but now as their contract is coming to an end they are using it as a dump for broken toilets/sinks and to store empty paint tins and rubbish and to top it all off they have now left one of the containers unlocked for two days wich no doubt will entice criminals into the close if they see an opportunity. There’s over 20 houses being inconvenienced by this company and I’m sure there’s complaints put u to the council aswell but thought id come here and tell my story too…”

“I would give it 0 if possible. They have done a few jobs in my house as a contractor for a housing association and there work is terrible. They seem to think that because its housing association they can slap dash it. Loads of issues. Do not use if you have a choice avoid”

“Our business carries out work for this company and we have consistently had issues with getting payment from them. We had a 30 day payment agreement however we are currently at 3 months unpaid. To defer payment we are repeatedly asked by different departments for updated invoices and statements which have already been sent to them. We are rarely ever paid 30 days after the invoice is created and have to keep reminding them of outstanding bills. We have had to come to an agreement that they must now pay us before any work leaves our premises. It is disappointing to run into these issues as we have conducted business with them for many years. It seems that local managers have less control over these matters as everything is done from head offices and it is therefore more difficult to chase up.”

“I live next door to a property which has been " renovated " by your company. The roofing contractors you employed didn't properly secure the plastic sheeting after removing all the roof tiles, and for the next couple of weeks the rain poured in, making the house uninhabitable. My neighbours were put up in a bed and breakfast for months. The roof has now been fixed, apparently, but after 6 months the scaffolding is still up. We gave you permission to put scaffolding on our property while the work was being carried out, but no way did we expect it to still be here 6 months later. My husband has called several times but the calls aren't being answered. I'm sure our local MP Mel Stride will be interested to hear about this, as will our local newspapers. Get this scaffolding off our property both front and back with immediate effect. I look forward to seeing your response.”

“We had a wet room installed last summer. The work was supposed to take four days, ten days later it was completed. During this time we were flooded four times and unable to use the toilet for two days. This week the entire wet room is currently being ripped out due to more leaks under the floor waste. We have now found out that the branch manager sent a gas fitter to do the plumbing last year. The workmen arrived at around 10.15 then disappeared for 11 o'clock tea break then at around 12 it's a hour the 3/4 lunch break.”

“Their drivers are absolutely dangerous. Break speed limits, undercut other road users. If this is how they operate in sign written vehicles one can only imagine their behaviour on site.”
