“I have had a very hard time finding a good hot water bottle and was thrilled to find your company. The only thing I would change is having one side without the ridges as that would b the side that you would b able to feel the most heat. Or give a person the choice. Otherwise I love it.”

“I ordered Hadley The Hedgehog for my grandaughter for Christmas. He arrived and I can honesty say he's absolutely gorgeous. Very soft and cuddly and a good size. The only thing I would say is the shipping was a little slow and I was given the wrong tracking number, other than that it was perfect.”

“Very good, easy to order, came quick, only thing is I expected it to come in packaging like I saw they had in tkmaxx( same brand) it was just in a brown box which isn't the best for a gift”

“The capacity is smaller than I’m used to but it still delivers on heat output. My only gripe is that the cover is so slippery! Easy to drop and easy to slide out of the bed between mattress and top sheet. Pretty colour though.”

“The item arrived in time and was nicely wrapped. The pattern was only printed on one side (I could not see any note of this on the page for the Cerise Snowflake item) which was a little disappointing but not a big deal, I guess. The material was a little thinner than I expected (if you slightly pull at it, you can see through it) but is very soft which is lovely.”

Thank you for your review. I am sorry you are disappointed that your hwb was made in China. Unfortunately the last UK hwb manufacturer closed its doors in 2001 and all production including the machines were sent out to the Far East. This was because the consumer was not prepared to pay a higher price for a product when the minimum wage was established. In order to keep the costs low and maintain a price based on piece work rather than supporting a basic living wage the original UK hwb companies had no choice but to take manufacturing out to the far east. Unfortunately, unless the UK consumer accepts higher prices in order fund the basic living wage hot water bottles will always have to be made outside the UK. I hope this goes some way to explaining why your hot water bottle was made in China.

“It was disappointing that I couldn't buy a 1.7l water bottle without a cover. I ended up buying one in a discounted cover, which is now sitting in my cupboard while the hot water bottle is in my old cover.”

I am very sorry that you were disappointed that you were unable to buy a 1.7L bottle without a cover from us. This is not a product we offer on our website. In a flash of inspiration I realised I needed hot water bottles for all our guests and picked up a load in the sale from the hot water bottle shop. “Exciting to discover an authentic source (ie a British shop) for a hot water bottle because who understands them better than they?!! Such bitter disappointment to find upon its arrival: “Made in China”...”

Hi Linda, I am sorry you were disappointed to find our hwbs to be made in China. Unfortunately, the last British hwb manufacturer closed in 2001 and all product have since been made out in the Far East. It is frustrating, however the cost to manufacture a product which the market believes should be "cheap" means it is is cost prohibitive to make the product in the UK. We do design all our products here in the UK and also have a Made In Britain collection where all the covers are made here in the UK, in Loughborough at our design studio. Despite finding that the product was made in China, we hope you found the product to be of good quality. Love, The Hot Water Bottle Shop x

“I wrote a review yesterday which was not good as I had not received my order. It came this morning (although I was not notified of shipment from the company) and the bottles are fine so please ignore my previous review. The delivery took 7 days (not over as I previously thought), but the postal service is disrupted because of Covid so I understand that. Thanks.”
