“Hi,I am Sandhi Paul from Calcutta of India.I’m a Medical Student,was doing Medical Volunteering in Nairobi of Kenya for the past one week.I had a very pleasant experience working at the Wema Nursing Home & Maternity although I’m a little bit upset that I wasn’t able to volunteer at Tigoni District Hospital(for which I specifically chose Kenya)which was far more advanced in infrastructure and patient versatility due to their ongoing strikes about which I wasn’t informed while applying for Kenya and came to know when I landed there.So yeah I wouldn’t say my time there was fully enriched as I didn’t got to see and experience complex surgical cases which doesn’t takes place that much at The Wema.”

“This trip to Kenya will be unforgettable for me. I came to Kenya with a stereotype of Africa (poverty backward. ). I went to the orphanage, school, and hospital because I was sick. I experienced huge differences, the gap between the rich and the poor, different perceptions of medical care, and different education systems in different regions. These are my most precious memories of this trip. Joe, the local person in charge of Kenya, sent me to the accommodation. The accommodation manager prepared dinner carefully every day. Put aside your prejudices and integrate with them. You will experience a lot of new and useful knowledge and African culture”

“We had a wonderful experience in Barcelona, Spain with Volunteering Solutions during our Week Without Walls excursion with 28 students. Jaya was absolutely fantastic, going above and beyond to assist us. A special thank you to Sahil, who was really helpful and did his best to propose the best program for our students. The NGO team in Barcelona was very helpful, and the volunteers were dedicated and hardworking. However, we found that their knowledge was questionable. None of the volunteers were local, and they were all new to the NGO and to being guides. They were unfamiliar with the opening hours of the monuments and the public transport routes, making it difficult to plan our itinerary in advance. When we asked the guides for the next steps, they often replied, "I don't know," which was disappointing, because we had to constantly look the online maps and supervise the students at the same time.The food was delicious, but the quality could have been better. As a result, the students frequently had to order additional food. The Program Director, Jean was absolutely amazing; the program and itinerary were followed consistently. Despite these minor issues, we had a beautiful experience that we will always cherish.”

“It was well organized and the people in Nairobi were very friendly. But to me it's a big mistery where the money goes we pay. The local hospital and the orphanage I saw don't see any cent of it. I was at the Tigoni hospital near Limuru. And it was every day a 40 min ride back and forth. First of all we lost time by that and after 2 weeks we spent 90 $ only for taxi. I think that's cheeky. The organization could have paid for that, since we paid so much in the first place to come. And since we're volunteers and don't get paid I think it's even more questionable that we pay so much. It would be something else if the local hospitals and orphanages would get the money. But they don't get anything and asked us directly if we could buy some soap, towels, etc. I guess I wouldn't recommend this organization.”

We truly appreciate your honest review however it came as a big surprise for us since only a few days earlier our team had checked in with you about your trip and you mentioned the following, "Everything went fine. I saw a lot of Nairobi and also visited the national park. I spent time in 2 different hospitals which was great.The people are very friendly and Especially the difference in healthcare compared to switzerland was impressive to witness. And I even have a feeling about how it works in smaller and bigger hospitals in Nairobi" Regarding the transportation expenses, we apologize if you felt burdened by the additional costs. However, all participants are informed clearly of the weekly expenses to be in the range of $90-100 for personal expenses and local transport is not covered. We understand that you, as volunteers, dedicate your time and effort without any monetary compensation. Therefore, we completely agree that it is essential for the funds to be utilized efficiently and directly benefit the local communities we aim to support. We do give donations and support to the projects where our volunteers work. Once again, we are grateful for your feedback and the opportunity to improve. If you have any further suggestions or would like to discuss your experience in more detail, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. “We have experienced the most memorable 16 days in Vietnam. Everything has been amazing from the welcoming hosts Que and Phuong, the best tour guides Rosie, Bin and Anh who never failed to make us laugh and smile then lastly the opportunity to volunteer at friendship village. “I volunteered for a school project in a very deprived part of New Delhi. Being a more mature lady (55) and travelling alone I was very apprehensive and slightly scared of what I was letting myself in for, but it's been something I've wanted to do for so long my children are grown up and I decided to do something for me. I was met at the airport and taken to volunteer house, it was very basic but had everything you needed, there was only 1 other volunteer so I had plenty of room, Shankar lived with us and helped us with daily life, such as cooking us meals, keeping us safe, advice and showing local area. The project itself is in the heart of a very deprived community, you had to walk through dirty lanes open sewerage, flys, very unsanitary conditions to get to school which supports children from 2 to 16. The children greeted me with smiles, hugs, and you felt you had to be an octopus at times! They really want t learn and are so curious, and pleased with the smallest of things, the older ones are very advanced and have dreams of becoming doctors and lawyers, one of the ways to achieve these dreams is to learn english, they really value the volunteers being there, the teachers also love us supporting them. I felt so privileged just to be able to be a small part of a brighter future for them, and as much as they learnt from me I also learnt from them. I took 2 trips whilst there, one to Jaipur the other to Taj Mahal, both were well organised and I couldn't have asked for a better guide. I built memories that will last a lifetime. I absolutely loved every minute of my time in New Delhi, and immersed myself in their culture and beautiful country, yes it was challenging conditions at times, the heat, flys, dust and dirt, but as soon as I saw those children it was worth it, you have to have an open mind and be willing to learn, then you will get the most out of this experience, for me I loved every single second and will probably never be the same, I'm so glad I conquered my fears.”

“My experience in Sri Lanka with volunteering Solutions was the best of my life so far. I joined the Sea Turtles conservation program and it was a rewarding experience. I particularly appreciated the staff at the Aasha House where I was staying: they were always helpful and respectful. Nonetheless, it was wonderful to meet new people from different countries and cultures but yet sharing interests with me. I have always dreamed about an experience of this kind and I was truly satisfied that I did it. I liked it so much that I decided to join another program also this year, in Thailand. :)”

“The best time of my life! I stayed in Kosgoda, Sri Lanka, and attended the Sea Turtle Conservation Project. Not just the work with these enchanting animals was what made this trip the most amazing. Experiencing the culture and lifestyle, as well as the daily chores of the people working at the project, and of course the unbelievable feeling of releasing hatchlings into the Indian Ocean or watching them grow at the hatchery! The people are incredibly friendly and welcoming. I can’t even put into words how many wonderful and breathtaking moments I have been able to experience because of this volunteering. The organisation on site and before departing from home was great. Whoever wants to take a break from the monotonous routine at home should definitely consider to take a chance in Sri Lanka. You have very good working times, that are also negotiable and lots of time to see the country’s most beautiful sights! I can only recommend this project! Anyone who is willing to get there hands a little dirty and wants to be part of protecting these special creatures should consider joining the project!”

“The Women Empowerment program was amazing, so very rewarding! The helpers were really friendly and helped plan lessons and introduce me to the amazing women I taught! The English level was advanced but this was fine for me and I know it was more difficult to those where English was their second language but I know they enjoyed it and help was always available if they needed it! Accommodation was clean and really well situated near Galle. Staff always friendly and happy to help! Would recommend this volunteering program to everyone who loves teaching.”
