“I had the chance to participate in two different volunteers' programs in partnership with Volunteering Solutions. Since I have decided to volunteer abroad, Namrata, from Volunteering Solutions had given me all the support I need for these two journeys and also during the programs. Projects in Sri Lanka and Vietnam touched my heart and I dive deeply into both experiences. In Sri Lanka I had a chance to participate in two projects from Aasha: Kindergarten and Women Empowerment teaching English, however I used to say I learned more than I teach. Spending my time in kindergarten was a chance to feel the children´s power in terms of love, caring and authenticity. In Vietnam I had a chance to volunteer in also two projects from CSDS: Childcare with disable people and Kindergarten, two projects complete different from ech other but full of learning. Both of them (Sri Lanka and Vietnam) I was the first Brazilian people who attended the projects and personally it was a pleasure had been a chance to demonstrate the power of my nationality in charge of these projects. I had been completely assisted for Volunteering Solutions and felt at home in Aasha and CSDS projects. It was an honor to participate and I hope to come back on day in both projects. “I had the most amazing, rewarding, and special experience of my life in Ghana with Volunteering Solutions. Emerging into a totally new culture, giving yourself body and soul, learning new things, learning how this culture lives, and living in its day to day life is the most incredible thing in the world! Ghana (specifically Tamale) became my second home, thanks to Fred, his family, the community, and the children at the school and orphanage, who made me feel like I belonged there. I will be eternally grateful for this experience, and I completely recommend it to people looking to have a life changing experience, learn different things, and especially help those in need.”

“It was such a great experience!! I was 16 years old and I felt really safe with all the organization and the friends that I met there. This was. Such a great experience to valorate the tiny things that we already have at home but not everyone can afford. The only thing is the staying. There is not hot water and it’s a little bit far from where you are doing the volunteer specially if your doing the medical part and need to go to the hospital to help. It’s much better if you contact Makimei Children’s Home directly and they can find you a staying maybe closer from the orfanage and with hot water so that you don’t need to do such a long of a drive.”

In regards to the non availability of hot water, we have checked with the coordinator and it must be some minor issue due to which hot water was not available in your showers which could have been rectified if you had informed the coordinator about the issue when at the accommodation. “I am super happy about this unique experice with Volunteering Solutions. I was working as a volunteer in a Streetchildren project in the Philippines. The work in the placement was awesome and the kids are really unique and precious. In comparison to other organisations I really enjoyed living together with a filipino family. I could get to know the culture much better and so deeply. Everyone was so kind and they made me feel so welcome and part of their family. The filipino culture impressed me a lot in so many ways. “Hi,I am Sandhi Paul from Calcutta of India.I’m a Medical Student,was doing Medical Volunteering in Nairobi of Kenya for the past one week.I had a very pleasant experience working at the Wema Nursing Home & Maternity although I’m a little bit upset that I wasn’t able to volunteer at Tigoni District Hospital(for which I specifically chose Kenya)which was far more advanced in infrastructure and patient versatility due to their ongoing strikes about which I wasn’t informed while applying for Kenya and came to know when I landed there.So yeah I wouldn’t say my time there was fully enriched as I didn’t got to see and experience complex surgical cases which doesn’t takes place that much at The Wema.”

“This trip to Kenya will be unforgettable for me. I came to Kenya with a stereotype of Africa (poverty backward. ). I went to the orphanage, school, and hospital because I was sick. I experienced huge differences, the gap between the rich and the poor, different perceptions of medical care, and different education systems in different regions. These are my most precious memories of this trip. Joe, the local person in charge of Kenya, sent me to the accommodation. The accommodation manager prepared dinner carefully every day. Put aside your prejudices and integrate with them. You will experience a lot of new and useful knowledge and African culture”

“We had a wonderful experience in Barcelona, Spain with Volunteering Solutions during our Week Without Walls excursion with 28 students. Jaya was absolutely fantastic, going above and beyond to assist us. A special thank you to Sahil, who was really helpful and did his best to propose the best program for our students. The NGO team in Barcelona was very helpful, and the volunteers were dedicated and hardworking. However, we found that their knowledge was questionable. None of the volunteers were local, and they were all new to the NGO and to being guides. They were unfamiliar with the opening hours of the monuments and the public transport routes, making it difficult to plan our itinerary in advance. When we asked the guides for the next steps, they often replied, "I don't know," which was disappointing, because we had to constantly look the online maps and supervise the students at the same time.The food was delicious, but the quality could have been better. As a result, the students frequently had to order additional food. The Program Director, Jean was absolutely amazing; the program and itinerary were followed consistently. Despite these minor issues, we had a beautiful experience that we will always cherish.”

“It was well organized and the people in Nairobi were very friendly. But to me it's a big mistery where the money goes we pay. The local hospital and the orphanage I saw don't see any cent of it. I was at the Tigoni hospital near Limuru. And it was every day a 40 min ride back and forth. First of all we lost time by that and after 2 weeks we spent 90 $ only for taxi. I think that's cheeky. The organization could have paid for that, since we paid so much in the first place to come. And since we're volunteers and don't get paid I think it's even more questionable that we pay so much. It would be something else if the local hospitals and orphanages would get the money. But they don't get anything and asked us directly if we could buy some soap, towels, etc. I guess I wouldn't recommend this organization.”

We truly appreciate your honest review however it came as a big surprise for us since only a few days earlier our team had checked in with you about your trip and you mentioned the following, "Everything went fine. I saw a lot of Nairobi and also visited the national park. I spent time in 2 different hospitals which was great.The people are very friendly and Especially the difference in healthcare compared to switzerland was impressive to witness. And I even have a feeling about how it works in smaller and bigger hospitals in Nairobi" Regarding the transportation expenses, we apologize if you felt burdened by the additional costs. However, all participants are informed clearly of the weekly expenses to be in the range of $90-100 for personal expenses and local transport is not covered. We understand that you, as volunteers, dedicate your time and effort without any monetary compensation. Therefore, we completely agree that it is essential for the funds to be utilized efficiently and directly benefit the local communities we aim to support. We do give donations and support to the projects where our volunteers work. Once again, we are grateful for your feedback and the opportunity to improve. If you have any further suggestions or would like to discuss your experience in more detail, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Everything has been amazing from the welcoming hosts Que and Phuong, the best tour guides Rosie, Bin and Anh who never failed to make us laugh and smile then lastly the opportunity to volunteer at friendship village.
