All the bolts that come with it were too short to fix to the roof.

Hi Sam, Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that the supplied bolts didn’t work for your roof setup. Please contact our support team on 01392368351 with your vehicle/model details and we’ll be happy to help arrange suitable replacements if the bolts are too short or faulty. We will also feed this back to our research and development team to review. Tracy

The square cut outs in Citroen Dispatch roof flanges are designed to take cage nuts. What the kit contains is a modified speed clip which looks like a combination of a speed clip and a rivet nut (size M6). Would I trust either? Each bracket depends on an 8.8 tensile strength galvanised M6 hex set screw tightened to 11Nm, and two bracket feet with neoprene spacers bearing on the flat part of each roof flange. Fore and aft movements due to acceleration and braking inertia, on say ladders, has to be resisted by this fixing method. The supplied 16mm hex sets are not long enough for the threads to engage, so instead, the fastener is first tightened with the serrated washer alone, left a while for the modified speed clip to retain its deformation, after which the screw can be reinstated with both the serrated washer and plain washer. After assembly to the correct 11Nm torque, no thread is visible beneath the modified speed nut, which to me is plain wrong. In my opinion, some threads should be visible to at least show the two parts are fully filled (it used to be called the three thread rule). I have supplemented each bracket with two cable ties, such that if the fastener fails, the end of the bar assembly will not pivot breaking the other end off, spearing a road user! There has to be a better way than this, guys!?

Good morning Graham, Thank you for your detailed and technically informed feedback — we appreciate the time and thought you’ve put into your review. We’d like to reassure you that this roof bar mounting system has been crash tested and approved to a maximum load of 80 kg per bar, in accordance with relevant automotive safety standards. The fixing method supplied has been validated as part of that testing process and in over 10 years on sale, we have not seen this fail while in use. Regarding the fixings: the M6 clip nuts supplied with the kit are purpose designed for this application and rather than standard speed clips. When correctly installed and torqued to the specified 11 Nm using the supplied galvanised steel fasteners, they provide the required clamping force while accommodating the roof flange geometry of the Citroën Dispatch. The absence of visible threads below the nut after tightening is not indicative of insufficient engagement in this specific design, but the required thread depth of the clip nut and does not negatively affect the structural integrity or safety of the installation. The recommended installation process should not require staged tightening or settling time; however, we understand your caution and respect your preference for installation method. That said, we take feedback like yours seriously. If you’d like to discuss alternative fixing concepts, vehicle specific constraints, or installation best practices in more detail, our technical team would be very happy to do so directly. Thank you again for raising your concerns and contributing to an open technical discussion — feedback from experienced users helps us continue improving. Kind regards, Van Guard Technical Team

Sent out the wrong parts to begin with. Sent the correct ones without fuss but had to wait longer than anticipated.
