When travelling overseas, the one thing you should never skimp on is your travel insurance cover, as should things go wrong you want the very best cover for you and your possessions.

At The True Traveller, we’re used to advising people on travelling all around the world, and due to feedback from our customers we’ve changed our insurance website, made it even better value and extended the range of products.

On Single Trips, we offer three Policies called True Value, Traveller and Traveller Plus. True Value is designed for travellers under 40 years of age, and is designed for last minute travellers and backpackers. The Traveller policy, our most popular, is designed for holiday makers and adventurous travellers alike, and Traveller Plus gives enhanced medical and cancellation cover.

On our Multi Trip Policies, again we offer the Traveller policy valid for unlimited trips throughout the year for durations up to 30 days, and the Traveller Plus policy which offers enhanced cover for unlimited trips lasting up to 70 days. We also have a budget True Value Policy for travellers under 40 years of age.

We’ve tried to get the prices as keen as possible on all our insurances. This means on the Single Trip and Multi-Trip you have the option to exclude Baggage Cover as this may well be covered in your Home Contents insurance; you also have the option to add-in different activity packs. The Traveller Pack covers 92 of the regular holiday activities which you will get involved in, and covers clerical/non-manual work as standard. The Adventure Pack covers a further 41 activities and is designed for the more adventurous traveller and backpacker, covering trekking to 4,600m, as well as volunteer work and manual work. The Extreme and Ultimate Packs covers all the more extreme and ultimate adventures. The Extreme covers trekking over 4,600m to any altitude, as well as Scuba Diving to 50M. The Ultimate covers Hang Gliding, Mountaineering and Polo to name just three of the Ultimate adventures!

“I haven't had to claim, but buying the policy was easy and True Traveller were seemingly very upfront with useful information to help you make sure you're covered correctly. They also cover for 2 years which is what I needed for my Canadian visa!”

“Never had a problem with true traveller. The coverage makes travelling less stressful and they are very responsive when you reach out to them. Plus, they cover you when you are already travelling and on one way journeys which is a big bonus!”

“We have travelled three years already on the row and taken travel insurance from True Traveller three or four times for longer periods. We appreciate the easiness of buying and selecting suitable insurance for our own needs. Price is affordable and lot cheaper than travel insurances in our native country Finland (after three months abroad). We have been lucky enough for not needing take advantage of our insurance, so I can't tell how it works when something happens and we are knocking the wood that we can keep it that way. According the experiment on getting the insurance I'm confident though.”

“Brilliant company for travel insurance. I was mid journey when I found out I wasn't covered due to leaving Europe. My sister arranged a years travel insurance over the phone for me and I just renewed online with a 10% discount. Couldn't be happier. I'm cycle touring, so it's important that I'm covered completely in case of any accident and it reassure's my family back home.”

“Purchasing was easy online and variety of options available to customise your insurance is great. I used it because it allowed me to be insured for my Canadian IEC visa for 2 years. This all being said I haven't had to make a claim yet so that side of this has not been reviewed.”

“Good value insurance. The different options you have, allow you to tailor the best insurance you need. The worldwide option (except North America) includes the possibility of travelling through USA and Canada in a limited time (which is nice, not to have to get the higher option) I would suggest that the basic premium should include trekking up to 4500m or 5000m as other companies do. The worst I found for this insurance is when you list special valuables. It is limited to 3 and to a max price of 450 pounds; the premium increases a lot just by including them, and makes almost not worth it doing it. For the rest, it's the best I found, even with the basic option.”

“I found True Traveller searching for travel insurance that I could buy whilst already out of the country travelling, which is not something many travel insurers do. True Traveller had very competitive rates and in particular their high altitude trekking cover, including trekking in Nepal, was much better than other companies I had looked at. The website is very clear, and all additions clearly explained. I have already recommended the, to my family and friends!”

“I have used True Traveler insurance 3 times now to cover myself against some of the most diverse parts of the world from Everest base camp to Machu Picchu in Peru to Kilimanjaro in Africa and I can strongly recommend them for both ease of of application and total cover at a great price. “I have only just bought a Policy, so can only base a review on the purchasing experience and overall c policy coverage It is refreshing to be able to read Policy Terms and Conditions BEFORE purchasing a Policy, enabling specific queries to be raised with advisors, who I found to be helpful and knowledgeable. The flexibility of the Policy is great in being extendable and allowing for occasional return trips home without the Policy being curtailed - a fantastic option during this current period of uncertainty for European long stay travelling.”
