True Traveller - Travel Insurance designed by Travellers

When travelling overseas, the one thing you should never skimp on is your travel insurance cover, as should things go wrong you want the very best cover for you and your possessions.

At The True Traveller, we’re used to advising people on travelling all around the world, and due to feedback from our customers we’ve changed our insurance website, made it even better value and extended the range of products.

On Single Trips, we offer three Policies called True Value, Traveller and Traveller Plus. True Value is designed for travellers under 40 years of age, and is designed for last minute travellers and backpackers. The Traveller policy, our most popular, is designed for holiday makers and adventurous travellers alike, and Traveller Plus gives enhanced medical and cancellation cover.

On our Multi Trip Policies, again we offer the Traveller policy valid for unlimited trips throughout the year for durations up to 30 days, and the Traveller Plus policy which offers enhanced cover for unlimited trips lasting up to 70 days. We also have a budget True Value Policy for travellers under 40 years of age.

We’ve tried to get the prices as keen as possible on all our insurances. This means on the Single Trip and Multi-Trip you have the option to exclude Baggage Cover as this may well be covered in your Home Contents insurance; you also have the option to add-in different activity packs. The Traveller Pack covers 92 of the regular holiday activities which you will get involved in, and covers clerical/non-manual work as standard. The Adventure Pack covers a further 41 activities and is designed for the more adventurous traveller and backpacker, covering trekking to 4,600m, as well as volunteer work and manual work. The Extreme and Ultimate Packs covers all the more extreme and ultimate adventures. The Extreme covers trekking over 4,600m to any altitude, as well as Scuba Diving to 50M. The Ultimate covers Hang Gliding, Mountaineering and Polo to name just three of the Ultimate adventures!

“Very quick and easy to arrange cover. Stuck in New Zealand due to coronavirus lockdown and when trying to rearrange flight home, my original insurers claimed that due to government advice against travel the cover was no longer valid!! Thank you True Traveller for the peace of mind at a stressful time.”

“Great Insurance. May not be the cheapest, but certainly offer best value for money. We had heard of people struggling to make claims through various different companies. Unfortunately we had to make a claim due to unexpected trip to the ER. True Traveller were excellent in helping us make a claim and explaining the process of what we needed to do. Very responsive to any questions we had. We will be certainly using True Traveller again!”

“I did not use the insurance luckily, so I cannot review the assistance service. But I can review the process of acquiring it. It was fast, clear and easy. And after getting the insurance, I can say that it was stated quite clear how to proceed in case of an emergency. I feel comfortable having it during my trip.”

“True Traveller was able to provide cover when other companies weren’t. We needed to take out cover whilst we were already travelling outside the Uk. Most insurers simply will not cover this (most require you to be travelling to and from the Uk). We also found they cover a more extensive range of activities as standard, or via cost effective ‘add-ons’, than other companies. This company seems much better geared up for serious travellers, or unusual trips, than other providers. With True Traveller we did not face a constant ‘computer says no’ response, which we did with several other more well known companies. The telephone advisers/sales assistants were all extremely helpful, and very knowledgable about the terms of their policies, add ons etc and the website was quite user friendly too. This review relates only to the coverage offered and ease of taking out a policy. I have not had to (and hopefully will not have to!) make a claim, so cannot speak for the claims service.”

“I found the whole process of buying this insurance really easy and clear. The different options and levels of insurance were very clear. As part of my trip I am doing a lot of trekking and I am already abroad so I was aware that many standard insurances would insure me. I was reassured with all the options that the true traveller provide and I am now correctly covered.”

“They are very transparent in what their insurance covers. Customisable, a lot of options, you don't have to pay for options you wouldn't need. Excellent price-quality ratio. I haven't had to perform any claims yet myself, but have heard from several sources they provide excellent service.”

“I have only just bought a Policy, so can only base a review on the purchasing experience and overall c policy coverage It is refreshing to be able to read Policy Terms and Conditions BEFORE purchasing a Policy, enabling specific queries to be raised with advisors, who I found to be helpful and knowledgeable. The flexibility of the Policy is great in being extendable and allowing for occasional return trips home without the Policy being curtailed - a fantastic option during this current period of uncertainty for European long stay travelling.”
