True Traveller - Travel Insurance designed by Travellers

When travelling overseas, the one thing you should never skimp on is your travel insurance cover, as should things go wrong you want the very best cover for you and your possessions.

At The True Traveller, we’re used to advising people on travelling all around the world, and due to feedback from our customers we’ve changed our insurance website, made it even better value and extended the range of products.

On Single Trips, we offer three Policies called True Value, Traveller and Traveller Plus. True Value is designed for travellers under 40 years of age, and is designed for last minute travellers and backpackers. The Traveller policy, our most popular, is designed for holiday makers and adventurous travellers alike, and Traveller Plus gives enhanced medical and cancellation cover.

On our Multi Trip Policies, again we offer the Traveller policy valid for unlimited trips throughout the year for durations up to 30 days, and the Traveller Plus policy which offers enhanced cover for unlimited trips lasting up to 70 days. We also have a budget True Value Policy for travellers under 40 years of age.

We’ve tried to get the prices as keen as possible on all our insurances. This means on the Single Trip and Multi-Trip you have the option to exclude Baggage Cover as this may well be covered in your Home Contents insurance; you also have the option to add-in different activity packs. The Traveller Pack covers 92 of the regular holiday activities which you will get involved in, and covers clerical/non-manual work as standard. The Adventure Pack covers a further 41 activities and is designed for the more adventurous traveller and backpacker, covering trekking to 4,600m, as well as volunteer work and manual work. The Extreme and Ultimate Packs covers all the more extreme and ultimate adventures. The Extreme covers trekking over 4,600m to any altitude, as well as Scuba Diving to 50M. The Ultimate covers Hang Gliding, Mountaineering and Polo to name just three of the Ultimate adventures!

“For now it has been a good experience, everything is clear and easy to understand. A lot of choice - you can customise some of the options to suit your needs. I didn't have to make a claim so I cannot share any opinion about it.”

“Pros- two year insurance with unlimited home visits and a few other extras came to 891 which is cheaper than I expected. That includes an excess waiver too so it's ideal if you're going on a working holiday or travelling for a while. Cons- The maximum baggage insurance was for items up to £350. My laptop alone cost almost four times that. I had to do a medical screening because of a pre existing condition that wasn't automatically covered. One of the questions was about whether I've been to the A+E in the last year. It doesn't specify if this is due to my condition so I answered yes, but this question isn't asked unless you mention an illness. It should either clarify that it's specifically due to the condition you're declaring or be asked to everyone.”

“I arrange travel insurance every time I travel. Its simply a habit, but one never expect he will really use it. Unfortunately "dog on the road" do made me use mine insurance. First I was worried how it will all work, but I was very suprised in possitive way.. 1. Making the claim was so easy - just make pictures of my receipts 2. Guys on the line/email were so helpful - kindly asking all the necesarry details and keeping me informed about next steps 3. Money were received by my bank account in like a month I expected good service but this service really was BETTER THAN EXPECTED. Thank you TT for taking care me”

“Had a nightmare trying to find insurance for my season away so finding true traveller saved me! Was hoping to find something a tiny bit cheaper but compared to the other insurance policy’s out there this was cheap! And it had great reviews and great coverage for me while I’m away, so I’m a hap out customer!”

“I've used them twice now with no issues, they also offer a full 2 year IEC insurance policy which is a bonus as not many companies do. Website is really easy to use and it's clear what activities are included and which are not in the different policies. Comprehensive list of covered conditions too, nice as an asthmatic not to have to have an extra evaluation. My boyfriend had the same policy as me and got kidney stones for the first time ever whilst we were away, we contacted True Traveller straight away and they were really helpful and clear, and once he got the all clear they sent us a simple form and paid up really promptly. I've just bought insurance for another trip with them and will continue to use them in future.”

“I was travelling for one year around the world and didnt have any bigger issues and only once had to turn to a doctor. Truetraveller dealt with the claim swiftly and in great manner. Through out my travel it was great to know i have travel insurance i can trust and i wont end up in any troubles if something happens to me. Truetraveller also was the cheapest option for such a long travel and as i was not sure how long i will be on the travel, they also can prolonge the insurance even when you already travel ans this is great benefit as not many companies do that. Excellent service, thank you.”

“Really easy to organise when we were already travelling. We needed the additional cover to do the Everest Base Camp trek in Nepal, very easy to add the exact cover needed and you'll instantly know its the right one when you tick the required confirmation box for additional helicopter evacuation excess fees (Standard now amongst all providers). Would highly recommend and use again.”
