True Traveller - Travel Insurance designed by Travellers

When travelling overseas, the one thing you should never skimp on is your travel insurance cover, as should things go wrong you want the very best cover for you and your possessions.

At The True Traveller, we’re used to advising people on travelling all around the world, and due to feedback from our customers we’ve changed our insurance website, made it even better value and extended the range of products.

On Single Trips, we offer three Policies called True Value, Traveller and Traveller Plus. True Value is designed for travellers under 40 years of age, and is designed for last minute travellers and backpackers. The Traveller policy, our most popular, is designed for holiday makers and adventurous travellers alike, and Traveller Plus gives enhanced medical and cancellation cover.

On our Multi Trip Policies, again we offer the Traveller policy valid for unlimited trips throughout the year for durations up to 30 days, and the Traveller Plus policy which offers enhanced cover for unlimited trips lasting up to 70 days. We also have a budget True Value Policy for travellers under 40 years of age.

We’ve tried to get the prices as keen as possible on all our insurances. This means on the Single Trip and Multi-Trip you have the option to exclude Baggage Cover as this may well be covered in your Home Contents insurance; you also have the option to add-in different activity packs. The Traveller Pack covers 92 of the regular holiday activities which you will get involved in, and covers clerical/non-manual work as standard. The Adventure Pack covers a further 41 activities and is designed for the more adventurous traveller and backpacker, covering trekking to 4,600m, as well as volunteer work and manual work. The Extreme and Ultimate Packs covers all the more extreme and ultimate adventures. The Extreme covers trekking over 4,600m to any altitude, as well as Scuba Diving to 50M. The Ultimate covers Hang Gliding, Mountaineering and Polo to name just three of the Ultimate adventures!

“Easy and visually very simple website, liked the process of getting the insurance. But this is all I can rate for now because nothing has happened and I haven't made a claim yet. Thankfully! Seems to be a nice insurer.”

“True Traveller is one of the few companies who will insure you while you’re travelling and will insure older travellers. I’ve always found them to be friendly, helpful and ‘can-do’, plus their premiums are very reasonable compared with other companies. I used to trawl the Internet searching for a better deal, but now I just go straight to True Traveller as I know I’ll get a good deal with great customer service.”

“I am a ski instructor working around the world, as most insurance companies don’t really give me what I wanted (being covered for skiing which is an extreme sport, being covered during travelling, covered for my belongings, a long period of time etc etc) when I found True Traveller, they really excelled above the rest. I have made a claim in the past from getting a concussion and being driven to hospital in Japan in an ambulance, and the claims team were really prompt and helpful, and didn’t try to use any loopholes to get out of reimbursing me. So I’m really thankful for that, as I haven’t the money to afford high medical bills whilst I’m working, playing and skiing! Thank you True Traveller! That’s why ill go back to you every year!”

“I had to use my policy last year after I became unwell in Australia and was in hospital for 3 weeks. They stayed in regular contact with me throughout this time & I was reimbursed my expenses quickly on supplying receipts etc. Highly recommend :)”

“Excellent customer service! They answered our questions promptly, and made sure that we were aware as to what we were getting and how to use the insurance for the claim, if need be. Very smooth and easy process to actually buy the insurance, and once bought, they gave us all relevant information / documentation as well anything else we needed to know. Would definitely recommend, especially if you've got a Canada IEC Visa. This is probably the best company to go with!”

“Great insurance to use for any travelling needs. They have all the options laid out on a very easy platform to make up the package personal to your travelling needs. And they stick to there work. My brother had to make a large claim due to serious illness whilst travelling and true traveller helped him and my family the whole time. 10/10 would recommend”

“I haven't needed to use the insurance yet but I have full confidence thanks to the patience of your staff on the phone lines. All insurance Policies I've ever seen have lots of small print and complicated things to read and understand which makes me quite stressed so I called a couple of times just for clarification. They took me through every step and reassured me about all my queries and anxieties. I am completely clear what I am covered for now and have confidence in the product thankyou very much.”

“Insurance is one of those things that you hope never to use, but have to have - just in case!! I'm off to Kilimanjaro and needed Insurance that would not only cover me for anything that may go wrong, but also anything that may go wrong with flights, connections or the travel company!! There are a number of providers that you can go to, but I found that True Traveller gave me the cover I needed, especially as I had Coronary Angioplasty 3yrs ago, at a reasonable price. They may not be the cheapest out there, but they provide the cover you need and you get what you pay for. Why go for a cheaper insurance and then find out your not covered when you really need it!?!? The process to get covered was simple - just answer (honestly) all the questions, pick any add-ons you want and pay!! In return you get an email that you hope you'll never have to use!!!”

“I bought a year-long True Value policy for my IEC and I can’t say a bad word about it. Fortunately, I had only a dental emergency throughout my entire stay, but the True Traveller team helped me and I got the money back super fast! I would definitely recommend it to anyone travelling because, as they say, “you never know you need it until you do” ;)”

“Levels of cover suit me well, particularly for adventurous activities with worldwide cover for a long trip, and premium cost is very competitive. Online forms were easy to use. No idea how well they respond to a claim or in an emergency as I've not had any problems so far.”
