Had Certificate of Estate Protection plan in force….contacted after Husband passed away…..was given entirely wrong information…..have now consulted a different Company…..had to write off original £500 paid to get plan. I also have a Plan in my name……again £500 to be written off. Had we followed instructions regarding estate would have bee another£1000 worst off as we didn’t need to do what was instructed!!!!! No confidence whatsoever in this Company.

Wish we’d never used them. Total rip off merchants. Had to keep chasing for paperwork and took out the power of attorney for financial and health options but what they omitted to tell us in the consultation was that we had to pay an additional £82 per lpa so £82 x 4 in total to register them, as not included in fee !! And to boot we have to send them off, all they do is just type them up! Still waiting for our wills too despite chasing.

Once they took my parents money two years of dodged calls errors and LIES, the stress my mother has been put under due to this company is unacceptable, unfortunately my father past away two years after signing up I say unfortunately because they lost his Will and have not completed the trust all this my parents paid them to do. Time for the ombudsman I’ll update this review with the findings. Oh and be careful of the positive reviews on here I’ve an email from a director asking my mother to change her review to positive.

My wife suffered a severe stroke in February 2023 this suddenly woke us up to the fact that we needed power of attorney and wills, made arrangements with yourselves to set up , had a house visit got all the paperwork sent out, we visited your office 21/ 07 /2023 to sign up and make sure everything was in place found on the will papers my son had been named in some parts as your son and in others his name but as your daughter, new paperwork was sent to us that had been corrected, we signed up I rang you to ask if we could call in and quickly have it checked over, I was told you don't do drop ins so I posted on 15/09 I rang on 03/10 to be told it was on the legal teams desk waiting to be typed up, early October my wife suffered seizures and ended up back in hospital, I rang your office explained my concerns about it not being in place due to my wifes condition I was told that the paperwork was still in the same position as before, but it would now be made a priority, I rang on 09/11 to be told it was ready for a solicitor to check in the afternoon and I would get a phone call from the solicitor, I received a call from someone in your office not the solicitor, saying that some things had changed due to my wife's condition, this paperwork was completed before my wife's seizures and should have been completed and be in place, I have been asked by a few people if I would recommend using yourselves I have told them no based on my experiences, when you call your office the phone rings for ages then you are put on hold, it seems that once you have collected payment, everything is just placed in a long queue, I have had a very stressful year I have spent more hours on the phone than I would like to calculate, I was lead to believe this would be a easy process and everything would be handled by your office, without chasing up I feel i would not be in any advanced position with this situation overall a very poor service.

12months ago we had a visit from a pleasant gentleman who offered a quick and efficient service for 2 wills and a trust fund. After numerous phone calls we got the wills in March after signing all the documents in December. To this date we are waiting for our trust fund paperwork. After a phone call today we have been told they are sending a document to be signed and then returned to the Land Registry and then back to us, despite a form being signed in December by us and our children. Town and Country have never phoned us we have had to phone them. When is this going to be all sorted
Helpful Report
13 months to sort a will. Power of attorney. And still waiting for our land registry deeds to be sorted. You can never get a straight answer from this firm. So disappointed with the whole business.

They don't use Solicitors so Legal Ombudsman cannot help with problems. Cost over £2000 despite their adverts. 20 months later still not received Will despite saying it was urgent. Continually incorrect. Person died before completion of paperwork. No communications from them for months, have to phone them and never speak to same person. Dreadful firm.

I paid just under 3k for my Will and POA on 6th December 2021. The paperwork came through but full of spelling mistakes. They got sent back, and revised ones arrived. The will documents came later but still spelling mistakes. So May 2022 I sent them back regarding the errors. Nothing happened, my file was probably left in a drawer somewhere. I got in touch in October, nothing happened. Again I got in touch in January 2023. Apparently I didn't sign a document. Well I sent it back and highlighted the fact that my name was wrong. Communication is bad. My file has been sitting on somebody's desk for over 8 months. Not good.

Dear Mrs P Morris. We are sorry about your experience and sincerely apologise for the typo errors. We have now put everything right for you, a director has visited your home at a weekend and helped you and the family sign off all the documentation correctly and he gathered all the required Identification documents. We have processed the Lasting Power of Attorney documents, paid the registration fees and sent those to the Office of the Public Guardian. The sign of a good company is a company that put things right for their clients if things do not go to plan. In this case we have gone above and beyond to help. As a gesture of good will we have also compensated you financially for the delays, some of which were beyond our control. Kind Regards, Town & Country Law
Advertise will for £47 but when the planner came to our house she rolled her eyes & said no will costs that unless you are a single person renting with nothing to leave, even then need to add VAT. She was patronising & said she's 'sick of explaining this'. My parent wanted to go ahead as true price, although considerably more, was still reasonable. Will needed several corrections to names, addresses and put grandson as a 'she'. No apology when reported the errors. Would advise to aviod, even if just for the lies about pricing

Very bad experience with getting the names of our children right. We corrected, yet corrections have again been ignored which is sloppy and worrying for legal oversight - not professional.

Town and Country took our money over four months ago for a simple will and power of attorney. They then returned incorrect paperwork to us and entirely failed to follow this up. Their first excuse for the delays was the first Covid lockdown, which was before they accepted our business, and then the Royal Mail were the follow-up excuse. We are still waiting, with gradually diminishing hope. Lorna at Customer Service is friendly enough, but it takes more than this to deliver an acceptable level of service.

Took two months for the paperwork to arrive, happened to be the day after I complained!! Had to let my daughter look at the paperwork as it involves her and to make sure she was happy with what we wanted to do. Then covid19 hit did not do anything for a while then sent them an email as I had a few quires no reply to my email after a week then sent a letter still no reply. Would not recommend this company customer service is zero.

After speaking to you this morning it is now apparent that the emails you have been sending are to an incorrect email address and that is why you received the bounce back email notification. Regardless though, I have offered to speed up the process by coming to see you personally and have also offered you free LPA's too. Thanks. James
Introduced to Town & Country law at Lincolnshire Show in 2019. Agreed with them to put my property into trust. Nice rep visited our house and we also agreed for Town & Country to include a new will with the trust. Total cost £2890. I have had numerous phone calls and emails with T & C law to find out progress with our Trust and Will. The will has been completed. Also informed the documents for our Trust where submitted to council in January and the time to process these docs is not in the control of T & C Law. Spoke with Local council this morning ( 10 June 2020) and they informed me that on the 3rd June 2020 they received our TR1 documents, which we signed in Oct 2019, and will have to wait now for processing. From my experience if you want something doing a.s.a.p. go to another law firm. Nice people but VERY poor service/action.

Dear Mr Lovatt, Good to speak with you earlier today and apologies for the delay in receiving your documents. As mentioned, your Wills and LPA's are complete. Whilst we have also completed the Trust, we await the registration of this document at the Land Registry. All documents were sent off when we received them. The document was sent to the centralised LR office and from there the document was then processed by that department and sent to their Hull office. The land registry is not a part of our business and unfortunately we have no control over them. Had it not been for a pandemic, I'm certain you would have received your documents by now. However, for obvious reasons things have been delayed. I have added some free services to your account this morning and promised to call you again with an update as soon as I know more. Kind regards, James
