“The CV squad was recommended to me by a course provider and I have to say they provided a first-class service, I work in the Offshore and sub-sea construction industry and it is not easy to find CV writers that have the knowledge, or know the correct terminology to produce a good CV that will catch the recruiters eyes for this niche industry. I provided them with a few examples of the kind of roles I would go for and they did the rest, in the past, it has been countless emails back and forth and in the end, I could have written the CV myself, I was scared to shorten my old CV as I had been told it was too long, I took the plunge and they produced a fantastic CV in just three pages, it has a good amount of work history, a very powerful profile and all my qualifications, I took the package with the cover letters and Linkedin profile, My LinkedIn profile is now getting way more hits from recruiters and I'm being contacted regarding work, the first company I sent my new CV & new cover letter to contacted me directly within 24 hours, this has not happened to me in twenty years of working in this industry. “The structure of which the cv/cover letter was written in was quite insightful. I will use it as a blueprint when writing my cv but the service as a whole was not worth the money I paid for. Paying as much as I did for the service I would expect to have a ready to go product to send to potential employers but I definitely do not have that. There are several things I will need to change myself, even after writing in to amend a few things. No animosity, just being honest. I found the process quite confusing as I was getting multiple files in different formats and I found the cover letter to be a carbon copy of my cv but displayed in bullet points instead. I do not believe that would look good to a potential employer as they are not learning anything new about me, rather just reading something that is already stated in my cv. All in all I would pay £30 for the service as I believe it to be a general guide for structuring a CV rather than providing a ready to go CV.”

We are also sorry to hear that you finding the different formats of your CV confusing - we provide both WORD and PDF versions. The reason for this is that PDF is a closed document so it keeps the same shape no matter what device/software it is opened on. PDF is great for sending to people you know, or to those who specifically ask for it in PDF. At all other times, however, especially with recruitment agencies, we recommend you send your CV in WORD. Regarding your Cover Letter - Cover Letters are designed specifically to attract the attention of recruiters by highlighting only the most relevant information to the job you are applying to. The sole objective of a Cover Letter is to sell yourself in a few lines and encourage the recruiter to open your CV.
