Tailsters app has quite a few glitches, for example I wasn't able to update the profiles for my pets. However it had enabled me to find a sitter who met my needs but think the app and tech needs a lot more work to get this more user friendly and intuitive.

Everything worked out. I find the app a bit complicated.

Whilst we’re happy with sitter, the app is really quite poor. The update text virtually never showed up when you selected the item, the app needed restarting practically every time I used it, and Tailster haven’t responded to the tweet I sent them last week.

We have used Tailster quite a few times over the years, with mixed success. One carer didn't bother to turn up for our initial meeting and one carer was completely unprofessional and didn't come to our house on all of the days we had booked her. On the flip side we have had a couple of good people who have been caring and provided a good service. The site is easy to use and is a great tool to connect with local people in your area. It just may take a couple of go's to find the right person.

Wasn't the easiest system to use, and tried 5 times to call the customer service number which noone answered.

Trailster was absolutely fantastic for being able to find a range of suitable dog caters in the area. It worked really well. My only negative is, we picked a long term carer who has our dog 3 days a week every week, the way we pay is by tipping up our account regularly and once that money has gone we top up again. However, there is no way of us being able to check what our account balance is which makes it really tricky to manage. If there’s a way this could be incorporated into the eh app it would be perfect! Other than that, it’s great.

The cat sitter I found is lovely. And I got a couple of quotes quite quickly after posting my ad. But the interface of the Tailgater app and website is not very user friendly.

It's good but I wish the app was more up to date as navigating the mobile site is a nightmare with my screen

Easy to find a carer, process of booking etc wasn't very clear and had to request help. Now I know how to use it, will use again.

The look and feel of the site seams great and the service is really good, to begin with. The problem I have is that once all the details are taken and, luckily a dog walker is found the site actually is quite confusing. You have to look at it from a customers side, a first time user wanting to make a booking or just simply make a payment. I have two small successful businesses and both are mainly on line so I think the concept is fine and looks clean but in the end its too complicated. That may be just in the beginning but a lot of people are really busy and will give up after trying a couple of times. Competition as a dog walker site is fierce and you have to make it super easy to use from the start if you want to stay successful! Its a great site and I am happy with the dog walker I found.

Tailster is one of several such websites around. We went to it in desperation when we couldn't find an available Catsitter through our regular channels. While we did find our catsitter through the site, I can't rate the experience using the website or app very highly (despite your email asking me to give you a 5 star review - that's a bit dishonest, no?). So here's my honest review for other pet owners. The UX of Tailster is awful. The site experience is clunky and confusing to use. Petsitter pics are tiny and there's no way to enlarge them. There's constant "advice" spam from the site while you're booking a petsitter - this would be ok if it were one-time only and in a separate window - unfortunately it appears in the same communication window as your chat with your petsitter. Intrusive, confusing and annoying. There's no way to edit prices once an initial quote has been sent - often, a pet owner and sitter will come to a different agreement than the first quote. No way around this except to create a new listing and ask the petsitter to re-quote. The inherent model of pet sitters applying to an ad rather than the other way round is flawed. Results in tonnes of unwanted spam and wasted time. You can make your listing as clear as possible, there will still be perfectly unsuitable people clogging up your email with quotes. There's very little standard info about potential sitters on the site - they depend entirely on what the sitter decides to reveal about themselves. Highly unlikely I would use the site again and would definitely not recommend to other pet owners. There are much better alternatives around.

It's hard to separate the app from the service we've received from carers. I've really struggled with the app as it's clearly been rushed, and a lot of the functions (community, managing multiple quotes for multiple dates) are rubbish. However, we connected with a fantastic carer that meant we could circumvent a lot of the app and just get in touch with her directly. So the idea and result is fine, but the execution and tech is naff.

Hi there, sorry to hear you weren't happy with the app. We put pet owners in touch with carers quickly and we've done that with over 90,000 pet owners to date. We always suggest booking through the site/app in order to benefit from our insurance cover, tracking and much more - you lose out on this if you decide to book direct with the carer although that is your choice. Thanks for using tailster to find the perfect carer.
