It’s in a great location pub next door, village shop and play area for the children.(1 minute walk) Mobile fish and chips on a Friday . Great kitchen Highly recommended. On site parking in dedicated area.”
“This is a beautiful, well equipped cottage in a peaceful setting.
It is very accessible for anyone with mobility issues, as it is all on one level.
The hot tub was a real bonus.
We have booked again to go next year 😀”
“Our stay at the Brambles was lovely, Very clean, all that we needed, lovely and peaceful grand dog walks, in the woods lovely golden autumn colours, The owner, was very helpful, nice treats left for us and the dog, Great Marg.”
“We loved staying at the Nook, walking up the cobbled street alleyway up the stairs to this beautiful, characterful, cosy little cottage was a highlight of our stay in Whitby. It is such a good location right in the centre of the Old Town, with quaint boutiques and bookshops and literally round the corner from the 199 steps up to St Mary’s Church and the Abbey.
I was thrilled to learn about the history of the White Horse & Griffin hotel and restaurant, which is on the corner of the alleyway up to the cottage. It is one of the oldest and most iconic properties on the east side of town, said to be haunted by many ghosts. It also has impressive literary associations, and was a meeting place for famous explorers like Captain James Cook and William Scoresby. This deep and palpable history was just what I was after, adding to the magic of our Halloween week in Whitby.
It was the busy goth weekend for the first weekend we were there, and although we loved the buzz it was a relief to come home to the quiet sanctuary of the Nook. The welcome tea, Yorkshire cake, tea biscuits and milk was a lovely welcoming touch. The only criticism I have is that the tiny freezer was completely frosted up so we couldn’t use it, and there were only two toilet rolls for a week. Usually, Airbnb’s provide enough toilet rolls for the duration of your stay, so I did think this was a bit mean. However, these are minor gripes compared to how much we loved staying here, I would wholeheartedly recommend it.”
“A beautifully appointed cottage sat in a stunning location. The cottage itself surpassed all expectations and was even more charming in person than the pictures I saw on the website when booking.
Situated beside a loch, there are excellent views of dolphins, harbour seals, and other wildlife. The interior features high-quality fixtures and fittings. The cottage remained warm and comfortable, even in November and amid the cold, rainy weather outside.
We arrived to find a few supplies in the fridge and the cupboards, along with a complimentary selection of some local gin and whisky, which was much appreciated.
I would definitely stay here again.”
“The cottage was comfortable, clean and well equipped. The communication from the owners was excellent with updates on the day of arrival about a road closure. Access to the cottage was easy. The cottage is well situated for Windemere and Conniston and the South and West Coast. We had a very enjoyable week.”
“As always, Sykes cottages are very easy to deal with. I have had a problem with a holiday before and it was dealt with promptly. I definitely recommend them.”
