“WOW, this place is an absolute gem of a find.
The location was perfect for us, tucked away behind the farm with so many walking options on the doorstop. Superb homemade cakes on arrival, so good that we bought more almost every day. Carole left Gluten free cakes for my husband who has Coeliacs Disease & he said they were the best he’s had. The brownie, in his words, was something else (that’s how good it was).
Wonderful private & enclosed garden with fabulous views across the field.
Everything has been thought of, it really is like a home from home. The kitchen has been equipped to the max. Glasses for all occasions, cups & mugs, crockery & cutlery for all plus spare, there was a slow cooker & top notch air fryer as well as the standard kitchen oven. Dishwasher & cleaning tablets. Washing machine, tumble dryer & laundry capsules. Shower gel & hand wash in every bathroom. Plenty of Blankets for snuggling on the really comfy sofa. Blankets, towels & bedding supplies for the dog. The beds were the best we have ever slept in at a holiday home, so unbelievably comfortable & the bedding was superior quality.
Carole & Tim are top notch hosts, we were lucky enough to time it right & meet them both on arrival. Great local recommendations from them both, always stopped to chat if we saw them when we were arriving or leaving the Sycamores.
Local pub The Cross Keys was excellent, staff were so welcoming & the food was exceptional with plenty of gluten free options.
We were a party of 6. My parents, who are in their late 70’s & both have limited mobility, slept in the ground floor double with en suite. They were lost for words, their bedroom had so much storage, TV on the wall, great view of the garden. Their en suite was almost as big as the bedroom with everything they could need & even more storage. Our sons, 15 & 12, slept in the twin room with use of the separate bathroom, again everything that they needed was there & their room looked out onto the back garden also. Myself & my husband slept in the upstairs double with en suite. So much space, fabulous storage (more than is shown in the online photos, there is a double wardrobe & chest of drawers), lots of blankets, cushions, chaise longue & TV.
This was our first visit here but we will definitely be back again next year.”
“App very easy to use for bookings and payments. I have booked many properties with Sykes over the years and never had any issues. All properties are as described and I always try Sykes first when considering a vacation.”
“Return visit and was disappointed by the lack of upkeep. The pod is tired and run down with broken fixtures and fittings and mould in the shower area.. unfortunately we won’t be returning again or recommending to friends and family. Given 1 star for badly formatted questions”
“Pros: fantastic location. Clean. Comfy beds.
Cons: no wine glasses. No extra toilet roll. No handwash/little soaps in bathrooms. Side unit in kitchen full of paint and someone else’s old pizza boxes! Lamp not working in living room. Couldn’t use shared garden due to neighbours dog using it as a toilet!”
“Cottage was amazing with beautiful views. It was superbly equipped so surprised they did not have a hairdryer. Plenty of rooms to enjoy the view - and for having a quiet few minutes. The lane could definitely be improved - not only was it very steep but also full of pot holes which were hard to avoid as so narrow. It was a real challenge to then make the turn into the actual driveway and up the steep incline - especially in the dark!”
“A lovely house that is full of character and in a perfect location for enjoying the coast. The ramp to the beach is only 5 minutes walk. We had everything we needed there. The kids loved the big garden too.”
“Second time at Court Lodge, although we had a lovely time the kitchen was needing a bit of repair, one of the doors was hanging on by one hinge so unusable.”
“No key or answer to phone number on arrival. After an hour of waiting around we resorted to banging on doors to try and find out where the owner lived. The son was home but the owner was on holiday and hadn't left any instructions. The son gave us a spare key and jammed the entrance gates open for us as he didn't know the key code.
The lodge was clean and comfortable but the under floor heating had started to lift the flooring quite badly.
The road up to our lodge was very uneven with large pot holes.
We enjoyed the peace and quiet and the dog walkers that walked by were all very friendly.”
“Great 2 night stay at the Windmill. Fantastic accomodation and stayed in the Oak Room. The kitchen was well equipped and facilities in the bedroom and bathroom were to a high standard. The living room is spacious with a lovely inviting sumptuous sofa to relax on. Everyone was so helpful and Josh was always quick to respond with booking and help with connecting to the internet. The breakfasts were devine and really made my stay in Rutland memorable. Thanks for a great stay and will be back for sure.”
“Such a clean, tidy and cosy cottage. Close to shops, bus stop, and railway station (ideal for those arriving by train). We had such a relaxing week here.”
“Lovely house, plenty of space for all of us in our group. Beautiful decor and had a nice homely feel. Great location, we parked up for the week and everything was within easy walking distance”
