“We had a lovely stay at Lawn Lodge in a village called Ashelworth near Gloucester.
The cottage was lovely, exactly right for us and our dog, who absolutely loved the garden. Lots of lovely places to visit and lovely country walks. The hosts were lovely friendly and helpful.
I'd definitely choose this cottage again.”
“We had a fabulous time away in Norfolk. First time using Sykes we are using them again next year.
We received good service and no complaints. Highly recommend.”
“Couldn't wish for a better place to stay, everything you could want, comfortable and welcoming. Unfortunately couldn't say the same about the weather as our stay corresponded with the arrival in the UK of storm Anna, can't think of anywhere better to sit out a storm.”
“This is our second time staying at this cottage, and we continue to appreciate its excellent location. It's wonderful to be able to park the car and not need it again, with so many great walks right from the door, and plenty of places to eat nearby.
The only things that need attention are the damp, moldy smell and some general updating. I'm not sure if I would stay again at the moment due to these issues.”
“We had a great short stay at this lovely well equipped property. The garden area was ideal for our dog and for us and the location perfect for easy access to the beach and town.”
“We have stayed in over a dozen Sykes properties over the years and this was the first one that has fallen below the standard set. We stayed one night only instead of 5 that we paid for. No refund was offered
The main issue was that the garden wasn't secure for our dogs as one of them managed to escape within ten minutes of being at the property, despite us contacting both Sykes and the owner before our arrival date to confirm the property was secure
Additionally, on the day of arrival we received a message from the owner advising that the cottage would not be ready on time as the cleaners were running late. We found multiple other issues when we looked around including:
Outside bins were full to overflowing upon arrival
Uncut grass and untidy garden
Toilet downstairs needed bleach and didn't look like it had been cleaned at all.
TV not fit for purpose, the screen went white on a regular intermittent basis and the reception was so poor rendering it unwatchable.
Outside lights didn't work at either the front or the back of the property.
Cutlery drawer needs a clean and tidy
Grease stains around cooker and sink in the kitchen, stains on the wall in downstairs bathroom and along the stairs
Spider webs everywhere
Loose patio tiles in the garden
Holes in the duvet cover
Would not recommend”
“Brilliant time at Buck Place, The Bay Filey. Probably the 5th time we have stopped at the Bay, 3 x being at Buck Place, great communication, home from home, superb location for visiting various areas either by bus (bus stop right outside the complex) car or train. Great beach walk into Filey town. Something for everyone to do. Love Sykes cottages too they are my go to for our pet friendly breaks”
“We enjoyed a lovely family break at the Manor House, what an extraordinary 'cottage'.
It was perfect for us and provided everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Thank you for the thoughtful welcome pack. The only downsides were not being able open windows in some of the upstairs bedrooms just for ventilation, the reasons understandable for a property of its age but we were very warm at night. The other being the property is listed as dog friendly and will accept upto three dogs, however the garden, although extensive, is not fully enclosed. Our dogs are supervised at all times but it did mean we had to be extra vigilant and mindful, particularly as the dogs could easily get to the road.”
“Absolutely gorgeous place. Beautiful house and views. Definitely recommend for families and dog owners. Couldn't of asked for anything more. Thank you”
“What a gem fantastic property with a touch of luxury
The views from the house are amazing
Everything you need and short walk to the beach
Dog and child friendly
Lovely garden with hot tub and contactable furniture”
