“Lovely setting and apartment, close to Wrexham and Chester. Had everything we needed and more. Helpful owners.
Shame about the ripped snooker table and broken record player as otherwise it was perfect!”
“We all loved this house. It was perfect for our three family get together of six adults and six kids, with plenty of room for our older teen to find some space for herself. The house was extremely comfortable, with everything in great condition. We had an issue with one of the showers but a quick text to the owner (who was very apologetic) and it was fixed really quickly. All the bedrooms were spacious with plenty of storage, good linen, and towels were beautifully laid out for us which was a lovely touch. There was a huge amount of room on the ground floor which meant that we never felt on top of each other and there was always somewhere quiet to retreat to if people felt like it. We spent a good amount of time in both of the cosy living rooms watching the Winter Olympics, and really enjoyed snuggling together in front of the log burner in the evening. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook for a crowd and we all loved getting to grips with the fabulous AGA (though we were pleased to also have access to an electric hob and oven as well). The only thing that might have been useful is an additional cafetiere or a conventional filter coffee maker so we could brew coffee for everyone at the same time (there was a pod machine in the cupboard but we really like a pot), this really wasn't a problem, though. Everyone loved the sheltered hot tub and it was conveniently located near to the laundry so we could pop things in to rinse and then chuck them on the airer. We really appreciated the owner popping round to check on water levels and to make sure the hot tub was working well each day. The enormous dining room allowed us to all eat together and the lamps made for a lovely ambiance in that room. In fact, there were nice lamps all over the house which allowed each space to feel very calm and ambient after dark. The house was stocked with a good amount of games and jigsaws which went down well with everyone. Location wise, views from the house are beautiful and a short drive will take you into some nice walking country. There were several supermarkets a short drive away. It was February half term and the weather was cold and bleak so we didn't have an opportunity to make the most of the ample exterior spaces but they looked great. Finally, we were really touched to find a home made cake, prosecco and a number of other items waiting for us when we arrived. And that cake was delicious!!”
“We are not at all impressed with Sykes Cottages. Rarely, in our experience, does the cottage live up to the standard suggested by the company. We have stayed in numerous cottages over the years and have complained about some but little is done to address our concerns. We feel that quality control is totally missing and it left up to us as paying clients. We have left the last 2 cottages early but see no point in raising this as it is upsetting and to no avail. It has come to a point now where we are unlikely to book through Sykes in future. We do not feel valued as loyal customers and wonder what you actually do to earn your fees.”
“We have been using Pearsall cottage for some years now since it was renovated to a very high standard. Sadly there were a number of problems this year, foremost of which being the one" comfortable" seat in the whole accommodation the sofa, had been changed since last year and was very uncomfortable, short in the seat with worn foam cushions, leaving us sitting on the hard wooden base. It needs replacing with a good quality new sofa.
Also we had issues with a few items of equipment which were either broken or missing eg. the tin opener fell apart at first use, the Kettle leaked water around the base, and a missing frying pan spatula. When we told Sykes that we needed a spatula suitable for the new non stick frying pan,we were provided with a stainless steel spatula guaranteed to ruin the nonstick pan! This problem was probably caused by Sykes poor communication with the owners, with poor spoken English on our first communication with the Sykes representative.
It is such a shame,as the position is fantastic, and the accommodation has been so good. We would really think twice before booking again.”
“2nd visit to jenny's cottage,as before, spotlessly clean,no complaints, thoughtful welcome pack much appreciated.ideal base for exploring lower lakes, no hesitation in recommending, will return”
“Just return from a week break at little Orme in llanduno there is nothing more i can say about this little Gem but PERFECT . Jacquie & her partner are lovely people and go out of there way to Help you . We were a group of 4 and we all said the same had a lovely chilled out Break .Spot on .”
“We spent a week in Clover Cottage Mallerstang just over the Cumbrian Border. We found the cottage reviews very helpful with choosing the right property for us. I have used Sykes Cottages for 20 years and have never been let down. The price is always good, the properties are varied and eclectic but the standard to date has always been high. Long may it continue. In the maze of online holiday booking apps - I turn to Sykes first!”
“Great properties wherever you want to go.
Reasonable prices, the site is easy to use and their information and instructions are clear. Would highly recommend.”
“This is the second time we have been here and if it is possible it was even better this time. The cottage is spotless nothing is to much for the owners if you need them for anything. Hot tub was great on the cold days. Went to Port Patrick and the local golf club for lunch . The walks along the beach are great. And what a difference the log fire makes in this cold scottish weather. Bed so comfy you do not want to get up. There is everything in the kitchen that you need. Derek and his son Cameron so friendly . Will definitely be booking to cone back again.”
“We had a brilliant stay. The house is well appointed and the perfect size. We loved the views and the outdoor space too. We had a small issue that the owners dealt with promptly. We enjoyed exploring the local area - especially the woods. We very much hope to visit again in future.”
“After being a very satisfied customer for many years, I now have reservations about Sykes. Usually very good but a) hard to get in touch with them other than by phone which isn't always appropriate or chat bot which isn't always available. Standards of accommodation isn't always what Sykes recommend eg cotton bedlinen, basic commodities eg tea/coffee/ milk never mind a welcome pack. As for working TVs, ie not checked. Finally, if you book early but then cancel many months before then that is their profit. No help with booking or insurance. And this saddens me to have to say all this.”
“We rebooked 13 The Crescent in Rhos on Sea as we had stayed there last October and been very pleased with the house, it's facilities, rooms and location. Once again we had a very enjoyable stay. The house is perfect for our family with everything we needed supplied. The bed in the double bedroom is so comfortable, the shower is great and the location is perfect. You can reach the seafront in 5 minutes. Perfect! Thank you Dylan and Emma for a great break”
“Excellent bungalow in a lovely, quiet location.Handy for exploring the area..railway. Welshpool, Lake Vrnwy, local golf club good food and also Lake Vrnwy Hotel also very good.”
“Easy to book with good loyalty awards.
Flexible when I booked the wrong dates and altered the booking without a lot of fuss though there was a charge for doing it.
Excellent cottage true to description on the website.”
