“Booked with Sykes a few times always good.
This time we stayed at Treetops in Porthmadog which was a lovely flat with everything anyone could need for a comfortable stay. Would definitely book it again. Slightly disappointed there were no Welsh Cakes or Bara Brith on arrival as most other reviewers had commented as being a welcome treat on arrival.”
“Booking procedures easy. Have booked with Sykes Cottages on several occasions and properties have always been excellent, so will definitely be booking again with Sykes.”
“Went to Fram park long framlington Northumberland in a log cabin Ingram lodge and was very disappointed the kitchen was very dirty and greasy the oven was very greasy and all the pans were unusable due to being covered in grease and the veranda had never been swept and there was a dead plant left on it the road was full of pot holes which were very bad we reported that the handle on the main door inside had come of so was very hard to close and the light bulb had gone in the little hallway and nobody came round to sort it out we should have stayed until Saturday but decided to go back home on the Friday instead and there was also a leak on one of the radiators so really the cleaner should have checked all these things before we got there so would not recommend this site to anybody else and am surprised that Sykes cottageās recommend this site.”
“We stayed at Croft Cottage in Long Preston .
Really comfortable , warm and cozy .
The enclosed garden for the dogs was perfect .
The welcome pack was great and much appreciated .
Everything we needed was there for us , we loved it and will be back .
Great location , just wonderful .”
“We have used this apartment before, and are very disappointed with the following:
The only way to light the hob was with a box of small matches. The cooker hood filter smelled awful. The oven was equally bad, and had not been cleaned for months. When the oven was first switched on the whole room stunk and was full of smoke. The central heating TVR was turned down to 1 so we had no heating on the first night. It also turn out we had 2 different instructions for the heating, which did not help.
The family bathroom had sewage smells. Around all the windows were a lot of dead insects and spiders webs.
The staff at Coast & Country were very helpful.”
“Issues with no gas and the site not willing to come out on a Sunday to replenish gas bottles.
This happens in March whilst still very cold in the UK.
However the owner did find us alternative accommodation albeit a hassle to pack up and move after just settling in”
“First impressions of this lovely cottage were very good. The parking was great. The cottage was very clean throughout, although there were a few cobwebs here & there, but that's what happens in a country cottage!
The bedrooms were small but cosy and the bedlinen was spotless. While the en suite was great, it was a little tight to turn around in but they have made good use of the space. We did feel that the main bathroom could possibly benefit from being an en suite also, with perhaps a shower cubicle rather than a bath. This was only based on the positioning of the toilet and the door not being able to open without hitting the door stops unusually placed at the base of the loo. Hence one's toes being stubbed on many occasions!!
Our only criticism in the well equipped kitchen is that we felt the microwave is in a dangerously high position. We understand that space is limited but to have it placed above the fridge on a shelf and high above one's head, it's pretty dangerous to be removing hot items. There is also a little note on the top of the fridge to say not to place anything on top of it, which is understandable but if something is hotter than you think, you may want to quickly place it down, therefore could rush or spill said hot product possibly on to one's self or another person/child.
Our first night was pretty chilly in the cottage and we were expecting to see a bag of logs for the burner. This had been stated in other reviews with the owners saying they supply 1 x logs from Oct to April. Our stay was the second week of March but nothing was provided. We bought our own from the supermarket which obviously wasn't a problem although we felt that there should have been 1 bag provided as it was mentioned in the reviews.
It sounds as if we are complaining but we really are not. The cottage is beautiful as are the surroundings. We would stay here again and will recommend to others to stay too!”
“We had a wonderful few days in the house which is ideally positioned between Windermere and Windermere Bowness. The house is kept immaculately and every detail has been considered. The games room was an added bonus and there is plenty of parking available close to the property if you have more than 1 car. Our dog was also catered for with a lovely welcome pack. Thank you so much for this and the welcome hamper.”
“Sykes Holiday Cottages have excellent choices of self catering accommodation. Their website is informative, easy to navigate and straightforward to book without any hidden extras. They keep you up to date with your booking so you can't forget payments. I would choose Sykes before any other holiday rental company.”
“This is the 4th time we have stayed at this appartment, always first class.
Perfect place to stay in this very to explore this amazing part of the highlands :)”
“A lovely cottage. A real home from home. It was clean, warm and had everything you would need for an enjoyable stay. A few minutes walk to the canal and walking distance to two pubs. Very comfortable beds too. Jonathan and Debra live next door and were very kind and helpful for any queries. We woild definitely return. Thank you..”
“As ever, Sykes did not let us down. The cottage was lovely, well equipped, spotlessly clean, in an excellent location and met our every need. The owners were very friendly and helpful during our stay.”
“Easy to use website. Transparent charges, good communication regarding bookings and helpful updates make Sykes my go to choice when looking to book holiday cottages.”
