“We found the property itself to be warm and comfortable, although I could have done with a softer mattress option due to having a bad back. The kitchen could be better stocked, with more utensils, such as a working garlic press (the one there is pretty useless), a seive and generally more cups, plates and cutlery so that the dishwasher doesn't have to be used as much. Washing up liquid would have been useful to do small amounts of washing up.
A big negative was the building site next door. We arrived on Sunday to find the house next door was covered in scaffold. From Monday to Friday the builders turned up at 8am and started work. The walls aren't very thick and the adjacent property is empty, so no cushioning to dampen the noise as work was undertaken. There was drilling, hammering, brick bashing, roof tile removing. They removed the wall between the back gardens leaving no privacy in the back garden. There was a missing slat on one of the venetian blinds in the twin bedroom so they could see straight into the bedroom while they were working on the roof next door. We found the missing slat in the wardrobe on the last day and hung it back up. At least two large skips of materials were filled and removed over the course of 5 days.
As a consequence, the stay wasn't very restful and I would not have booked it if I had known it was next door to a house renovation. It looks as though the work will take some time to complete as it is a completely empty shell at the moment. It may be worth noting that on the Sykes platform so that people have a choice. It goes without saying that holidays are precious and not many would choose to listen to building works while staying in the idyllic Lake Districts.”
“The cottage was very spacious ,well equipped and very clean. The welcome pack was generous and the cottage was warm at all times ,thanks to the Economy 7 heaters. The host was very helpful, suggesting various walks and local attractions. The shower room is well equipped and even has shower gel and shampoo to hand. We will definitely be booking again, next time we visit the area. Many thanks to the host Nici.”

The owners have thought of everything you might need, They provide towels, toilet rolls. kitchen basics including salt, tea, coffee, sugar, cooking oil, kitchen towel, hair dryer, plus lots of othe stuff inc umberellas!. Pillows are incredible and beds comfy. Fabulous shower and bathroom. There was a lovely welcome gift of choc and booze and milk in the fridge! We had a slight issue with the TV but one call to the owner and it was sorted. Lovely lady, very helpful. Location couldn't be better. A lovely place to rewind with a cup of coffee on the back beach. Will definitely be visiting again.”
