On holiday, Norfolk riverside property nearly £2000 for week, with my elderly disabled mother- boiler in property broke beyond repair on day 2. No hot water but heating not needed as warm temperatures.
Local Management company came round, boiler got split in it, no water in it, cant be repaired need to find alternative accommodation.
But we apparently are fine to stay the night that night. Sykes ring up that evening- explain our requirements in view of disabled mother- cannot do stairs.
Next morning.....nothing
I call Sykes 3 times with 15 minute wait, cut off three times at 10am. They never call me back.
Various email sending a selection of properties which include properties in Somerset over 200 miles away, Wales even further and a three storey townhouse house whilst i have clearlybyold themno flights of stairs.
Keep calling them back- new person everytime
End result by 3pm they have found us nowhere so I say we will stay in the property and will make do. They then lie to us and advise that the boiler could blow up at anytime and we need to leave immediately- to be clear no one has been to the property since the visit the evening before
This is a boiler not on mains gas with no water in it, actually housed outside the main house.
They clearly want us out to sort it for the next lucrative weeks hire. In the midst of this is also a WhatsApp contact they provided which then tries to scam me to get the refund paid. Worryingly this had all my correct hire details and all the links for surrounding properties.
End result they do nothing and cannot even find a manager to talk to me on their contact centre stating there are none there.
Absolutely shameful
Will add up.costs and see them in small claims court.”

We have three booked for the next 7 months but had to contact their help line today and was really surprised all their phone lines are eventually answered in Kosovo. The operative was very polite but couldn’t tell me why our third booking is not showing on the “my bookings” page of the Sykes App. Not good..”
“Our week stay at The Roundhouse in Middleham, North Yorkshire was absolutely wonderful. The setting is gorgeous, with lovely views and easy access to the village and surrounding walks. The property itself is extremely well equipped, comfortable, and maintained to a very high standard. Everything we needed was right there. Roger was a fantastic host—friendly, helpful, and full of great local knowledge. He made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay.”
