“Although its easy and convenient to book a place to stay, what is irritating is the check in and check out times. They used to be check in after 1pm and check out before 11am. Now its usually after 4pm check in and out before 930am, i feel this is unreasonable. While i could understand it during covid, now its an incovenient aspect to bookings.”
“stayed here several times lovely and clean well equipped. however I feel the bedding could do with upgrading it smelt a bit fusty tbh!! also tje parking is great but the gate lock is very hit and miss the gates need levelling out . however I had a great week”
“Trusted to give you a good confident Holiday arrangement, keeps you you informed of what payments need to be made and went to pick up keys staff at the Holiday pick up office at Dartmouth were excellent very friendly”
“It’s the third time we have stayed. The location is very beautiful, the facilities are very well-maintained and the acclimation is excellent. The hosts are very kind and helpful. Perfect spot for a break.”
“Lovely accommodation, compact but ideal for a few days. Kitchen had everything we needed equipment wise. Would suggest changing the washing machine for a dishwasher though. Beds comfy but could do with some alternative bedding as it was too warm, also single beds quite tight for adults. Plenty of storage for a few days but again wardrobe in twin room more suited to children's clothes. Two sets of keys would be useful as you need to access the front entrance with them. Shower attachment in main bathroom could do with been fixed to wall. Again if two couples only one walk in shower, albeit a lovely large one. Maybe some info on local things to do.
Would have been 5 stars but unfortunately one of the toilets wasn't as clean as it could have been.”
“Loved it again. Weather was disappointing but hey ho! Kimberlin excellent clean and loved the welcome basket. Unfortunately had to leave early cos my chap took a tumble and hurt his ribs and shoulder. Chesil Beach and Portland great place see the Dorset coast. Sandra Wynn”
“I'm just back from my first Sykes Cottages booking. It was a delightful 7 nights in Northumberland with my labrador. The booking was straightforward and directions before travel were clear with arrival arrangements laid out. A really good experience, so much so that I have a booking made for next year.”
“The property had everything we would expect for a quality property. The fact that there was a lift to gain access to the 3rd floor accommodation, together with a garage, was ideal.
Nearby towns were within a few miles and the restaurants we visited were very good.”
“Hafan is a charming well equiped cottage in Beddgelert, a choclate box village.
The garden is lovely and roadside parking no problem but you may have to walk a few yards.”
“The owners of this cottage are just totally amazing, they truly couldn't do enough for us and the gorgeous hamper they left for us was so thoughtful, the cottage itself is the best holiday cottage I've ever stayed in with so many home comforts that made our stay extra special, it's beautifully decorated, immaculately clean, lovely and spacious and set within beautiful scenery, what more could you want. We'll definitely be going back but will try and make it 2 weeks next time as we felt 1 week is just not enough in Slieve Gallion cottage! Thanks for having us.”
“The cottage itself was fantastic. But we had a problem with the boiler, the fumes were filling the house. The owner called and told us about it late on the Saturday after we had arrived. He said the caretaker had told them about it in the morning and had left a window open to clear to the fumes, and it should clear very quickly. He said after we leave in a week he has a break in rentals so he would get a plumber in then!
We shut the door to the bathroom were the boiler was situated and stuffed a blanket under the door to stop the smell of the fumes, however by monday the fumes were still unbearable so we turned the heating and hot water of.
I contacted the owner by text and he said he will get someone to after we left, also he said luckily the weather was warming up!
Apart from the boiler issue and the infestation of ants under window sill by the sink in the kitchen, the cottage would have been great.
The location is fantastic, we loved the bells tolling every hour from the church next door.
If you get a chance have a look around the churchyard.
Dont park your car anywhere near the house or you will be washing it everyday. The birds from the trees are relentless. I eventually parked around the corner.
In conclusion we should have left straight away, but because we travelled 300miles to get there we stayed.
If it hadn't have been for the boiler and no offer of compensation, this review would have been great as the house was lovely.”
