“We have used Sykes for many years now and have never been disappointed by any of the properties that we have booked. All properties were as stated in the description and pictures so much so we have returned to some cottages for a second visit.”
“This was our second visit to this delightful chalet bungalow. The owner Julie has thought of everything thing you would need. The bungalow is very clean and tidy. It’s in a great position for the beach, park with children’s play area, shops, take away and pub all within a short walk. The bus stop for Clacton is just outside the pub “ Three Jays” which sells daily meals including Sunday lunch. We plan to return again.”
“The house was lovely and well maintained. The kitchen was very well appointed with lots of utensils. The only issue was the parking. The house slept 11 and there were 3 families but only spaces for two cars”
“We both really enjoyed our stay at Sykes Cottages.
Perfect location for us and our 3 dogs to explore the beautiful Cameas Bay.
I would highly recommend”
“Lovely place and great balcony to sit out when the sun is shining. Great location for visiting the Lakes.
Not sure what had happened on the day we had arrived as checked in at 3pm. Dirty towels were still hanging up and the bedding was in the machine so I put a wash On as wasn’t sure what else to do. I would say the mattress, topper and pillows need to be changed as pretty uncomfortable. I have to say though the place is lovely and everything we needed.”
“Unfortunately, we did not have a good stay at this cottage. The property is quite old and in need of proper maintenance and repairs, which affected our overall comfort.
Cleanliness was also a major issue. The house had not been cleaned properly, with dust throughout and rubbish left behind furniture, which was very disappointing on arrival.
During our stay, the boiler broke down, leaving us without hot water until late. This made the situation even more uncomfortable. We also struggled to contact the owner, which meant these issues could not be resolved in a timely way.
Due to all of these problems, we decided to leave the property earlier than planned. With better upkeep, proper cleaning, and more responsive communication, this place could have potential, but based on our experience, we would not stay here again.”
“Beautiful cottage, lovely welcome hamper whilst the cottage was dog friendly you would never know dogs have visited it smelt so fresh and extremely clean throughout. Beautiful fireplace cosy front room comfy beds, loved it.”
“The house was immaculately clean and well equipped situated in an idyllic position. It was a bonus that all the bedrooms had an en suite and the hot tub and games room provided much enjoyment. Would not hesitate to recommend.”
“A beautifully stunning house with lovely accommodating owners. If you want to see the perfect sunset in a picture perfect setting this house is for you. Beautifully decorated with a wonderful holiday vibe.”
“We have booked through Sykes Cottages a fair few times now and found the accommodation to be of a high standard. The booking system is efficient, as is the contact process during the trips. We will continue to use them in the future.”
“Lovely cottage, great location, would definitely book again! Really enjoyed our time here, recomendations from the host for the local pub ensured we had a few lovely meals out! When we booked we were a little worried that it was too far from the main "Lakes" for us, but they were easy to get to, and it opened up a whole new area for us to explore! Enjoyed time walking the beaches at Walney, going up "The hoad", and walking the canal path, which we would not have done had we not been staying there! Lovely goody hamper when we arrived and the hosts checked in to make sure all was ok without being intrusive. thank you!”
“The Old Chapel is a lovely little space to chill out in a quiet village. Not far from anywhere really and a perfect base to explore your surroundings. We had a lovely Easter, fantastic neighbours who were really friendly and helpful. The cottage is very nice and has everything you could want and need for a home.from.home stay. Nice little garden that is private, our only gripe was that our dog a labrador managed to escape to a neighbour's garden behind the cottage. Luckily we found her there as the neighbour's garden was secure. It was a bank holiday on our stay, so the road did get busy at times, but we were out most of the time anyway so this did not bother us. We would definitely stay again when it's available and we were in the area.”
“Another wonderful week at ‘2a’ - everything about the property is spot on for us. It’s our 3rd visit with 4&5 booked. I expect to turn up and find it tired, needing updating or some up keep required but happily not so far, as soon as you open the door you feel the weight of the world flying away. Its clean, modern, bright and you feel its love so treat it with respect. It’s a perfect location for us, days out and come back leave the car and out for a stroll and evening food and drinks. A dog friendly garden and beach across the road for early morning dog walks. TBH we never want to leave and between visits 2a and Beadnell never leaves us.”
“Always book my holiday cottages through sykes as never had a bad experience and reviews are accurate and the whole booking process is straightforward and self explanatory”
