“A comfortable, cosy cottage, well equipped cottage, with use of a swimming pool. Perfectly situated for exploring Northumberland with access to the local beach.”
“We absolutely loved the cottage, so beautifully furnished and unspoilt. It suited us perfectly with our 3 dogs. We also loved the natural garden and the views were spectacular. A small issue trying to get hot water in the kitchen but it didn't really bother us. A perfect holiday, really comfortable, cosy and authentic, and would highly recommend staying there. Thank you.”
“Lovely homely cottage in a quiet village.
Great communication from the owner and everything we needed to have a comfortable stay was provided.
The cottage was clean and tidy and we would love to go back and stay again.”
“A lovely cottage which is beautifully maintained by the very helpful owners who live next door. We spent 5 very relaxing days enjoying the attractive surrounding countryside, and seeing various friends. A very quiet location, yet well positioned for walks and visits.”
“Superb, location and cottage. Well equipped and thought of everything.
Already planning to come back. Such a relaxing break. Quality and home from home, which is unusual š”
“Nice place, good facilities, well presented. Everything necesary was provided - plenty of dishwasher tablets etc. Good parking, plenty of space for a large car.”
“Wonderful property, comfortable, great beds, well appointed kitchen stocked with everything you need and a very kind welcome gift of wine and chocolate. Great location with walks from the doorstep in either direction taking you on coastal walks, through woodland, country lanes and rural footpaths. Silverdale itself is a lovely little village, quiet , but with 2 great pubs, eating out opportunities and a really good Indian Takeaway, as well as a very handy CoOp. It well deserves its 5 star rating but just needs to attend to a couple of gremlins to be absolutely perfect. The toilet rolls are of very poor quality and disintegrate on use. The larger of the towels supplied are not really bath size . And finally the heating. We arrived on the 2nd day of Storm Amy at the 4pm check in time to a very cold property. The only information in the book given was that the heating was on a timer - but no indication as to when? Also that if we wanted to turn up the heating we should turn the dial on the thermostat in the hall. The heating finally came on at 7.15pm by which time you can imagine we were fairly chilled and it wasn't on for very long. We never knew when the heating was going to come on, it didn't always come on in the mornings, and the afternoons likewise. Thanks to having had the foresight to bringing hot water bottles and a fleece throw with us we managed to cope with the colder days, but we would like to think that on our return next year, and we really do want to come back next November ,the heating will be a bit more accomodating to the season.”
“The Cairn is a perfect base for break in the Boat of Garten area. It is cosy and is excellent for 2-3 people looking for a well furnished cottage with everything you need for a break. Prefect for exploring the area such as Loch Garten and the RSPB Osprey site, cycling through to Aviemore and beyond off the road and also popping up to Landmark at Carrbridge. Enjoy a meal at the Boat Hotel or Andersonās restaurant a few steps from the door. Thereās also the Osprey cafe for a coffee or lunch with friendly staff and a really well-stocked shop next door to
The Cairn. Weāll be back again!”
