“Booking was simple, information about the cottage was clear and accurate. Before our holiday we had several pertinent and important questions to ask and we could not get through to Sykes on the phone and the automated chat line was unable to provide answers. We had to search on other holiday home websites to find a telephone number for the owner of our rental and once we had this the owner was absolutely brilliant and gave us all the answers we needed to enable us to plan for our party.
Pastures Barn was fabulous! So well equipped and immaculately clean, both owners were extremely approachable and helpful before and during our stay. The animals on site were an absolute bonus especially for our two year old grandson and play equipment was varied and much appreciated. A toddler book and puzzle selection inside the cottage for bedtimes would have been the only improvement we can think of everything was amazing and we can’t wait to return as a family.”
“Lovely clean ground floor apartment. Had everything that we needed. Allocated parking space and great location for walking around Whitby. Contacted owners for minor query and they responded very quickly. Will be returning .”
“Perfect relaxing place to stay, lovely walks on the doorstep, well equipped and spotlessly clean, super friendly owners and thoughtful welcome gifts (we loved the pork pie!) the views are incredible and the large garden is very secure for dogs to run free! Can’t wait to return”
“The house was perfect for our extended family of seven with ages ranging from eight to eighty. It was spacious, well equipped, nicely furbished and had a welcoming atmosphere. There were sufficient bathrooms, the beds were comfortable and the games room was a bonus. We arrived in three vehicles and found private parking nearby for the third car.”
“2 Eden Lodge. Kirkby Stephen. The apartment was a little difficult to locate on arrival. Directions from the owner a bit confusing. But we got there eventually.
Clean and well presented.
Plenty of storage space for clothing etc
Heating is good
Sofa comfy, but you need someone to haul you out of it !!!
Location is excellent. Few minutes to walk up to the main street. Equally only a few minutes to the Frank Bridge over the River Eden and lots of great walks.
Having a dedicated parking space a great bonus. Parking in the area is very difficult otherwise.
Bed rather uncomfortable on our first night, due to a mattress protector sheet. Once that had been removed, we were able to sleep.
A few niggles. Lighting in the lounge poor. Just the ceiling fitting which is not very bright & we were unable to read comfortably. A table or standard lamp would have been nice. We're not TV addicts, but even if we were I would imagine that the overhead light would not be very pleasant for watching.
It wasn't particularly windy during our stay, but even so, the front door was rattling most of the time. Starts to get you really irritated after a while. This was day AND night.
Motion activated light at the front door, yes, a really good idea. But it came on every time someone walked by. And some of those times were after midnight. The light is shining brightly into the apartment, and disturbed our sleep. Some form of covering for the front door glass would help.
The thing that was most annoying though is the damaged floorboards which have been carpeted over, a little way in from the front door. This is dangerous! The depression is totally hidden by the carpeting. When your foot hits this spot and sinks, it causes you to stumble. Some people will recover quickly and be OK. Others could end up injured.”
“Our accommodation was clean and comfortable located in beautiful countryside, with easy access to local pubs and footpaths, including the coast. The owners were more than helpful and friendly. We would recommend this property and would return in the future when we next visit Anglesey.”
“Nice cottage, clean and tidy. We'd would have liked some facilities on arrival such as milk, spare toilet roll, tea or coffee. Disappointing after a very long journey. Someone deliberately scratched our rear car windscreen whilst staying at the cottage. A similar incident seems to have occurred in August according to the visitor book.”
“The Barn is a lovely little cottage. Warm and cosy. It's possible one of the cleanest places we have stayed in. Perfect base for visiting so many areas. We had a lovely day at the Deer Park, Lincolnshire Wildlife park and Hunstanton beach. Thanks again.. would love to return x”
“The Wheelhouse was absolutely fantastic. Comfy, plenty of space with far reaching views and lashings of hot water. Wake up to the sound of birdsong. Everywhere we went was teeming with glorious bluebells. Perfect getaway to feed the soul. Sykes just make it easy.”
“The owner of our caravan cancelled as we were on the way there because he said he hadn’t been paid by Sykes Cottages for his rentals, even though we had paid them in full at the time of booking. SC did eventually sort us another caravan but their customer service is shocking and it took over 3 hours of me chasing them up constantly. I would never book through them again. 2 stars just because our holiday wasn’t completely ruined.”
