“The course that I didn't know that I needed. I am so happy to have undertaken this Civil Service Employability Course with Strive Training. The tutor was amazing. Excellent delivery, Carlene. You were too perfect. I have gained an incredible amount of knowledge and self development. Absolutely do recommend this course. It should be mandatory, really. As difficult and competitive it may be to get into Civil Service, I feel very confident that I can get in. Bring it on!”
“My 5 stars and any positive feedback goes directly to the tutor, Antonia Kyriacou. She was amazing - her positivity was contagious and her dedication to the course’s mission was inspiring. She made an effort with each and every student and it was clear that her intentions were pure. She has given me the boost I needed on my job search and her tips and advice were super insightful and helpful.
As for the actual structure and content of the course, I appreciated the digital CV platform and the space for tutor feedback. But the amount of time spent on things not directly associated to job applications (e.g health and safety, risk assessment, student feedback and surveys) was obstructively time consuming and unnecessary. Also, the pace of the course was unbearably slow at times. Doing five days (6 working hours each day) of this course yet also having tasks to complete in the evening was unreasonable. These evening tasks should have been structured within the days’ sessions.
I am happy I done the course purely thanks to Antonia and to the other students I met.”
“I found the course content excellent and extremely helpful. It has hightlighted what I need to do to improve my prospects for getting a better job, from re-designing my CV to passing an interview and understanding job applications better, as well as using ALL my experiences to get a job.
I did not like doing the course online - my internet connection at home was unstable at times and I missed important information and even had difficulties joining an important meeting.
With not meeting my fellow group members in person, I felt a lack of support from them as there was hardly any proper interaction, as everyone was in different places doing their own thing. The tutor should have encouraged more group discussions within the course.
She was too focused on getting through the course and I felt at times, however knowledable, and experienced she was as a tutor, she raced ahead and I felt at times left behind not knowing where we were in the course. Things did improve as the course went along and I was able to keep up.”
“I am very happy with what you guyz are doing as things work out for people who have kids. Very kind and friendly teacher, overall very happy with everything.”
“As a completely new learning format it took me a little while to get comfortable with it. The group is very large, would have appreciated a short one-one (2-3 mins) with the trainer at the end of each day. Information is concise and extremely well presented, trainer willing to engage with all in the group.”
“My tutor was exceptionally helpful, patient, and effective in facilitating our understanding of the lessons. The pace of the instruction was very suitable for our learning.”
“Well run short course for those looking to work in the civil service. Help with cv writing and applying for work as well as how to prepare for and approach interviews. Good for those wanting to go back to work after taking a break or anyone wanting a civil service job. Plenty of links and resources given as well as advice on how to improve”
“Good course with effective tips that I wasn't aware of before, such as with applications, CV, cover letters, interviews. Good course tutor, with useful knowledge on the civil service etc.”
