“This is an app that every sound engineer needs as a utility tool. Headphone correction profiles are so useful and save you a lot of time because you don't need as much second-guessing before. Especially if you are using unfamiliar headphones. I needed minor technical assistance while I was using the app during the trial period. Sonarworks customer support was quick and incredibly helpful with the issue.”

“I have been using Sonarworks for a couple of years now. I started with Reference 4 Headphone edition which really improved my ability to mix music at home. Since I didn't know what to expect, I chose a cheap pair of headphones I found on their pre-calibrated list (Samson SR850) because I found this to offer a flatter frequency response than many other headphones at the time and found it worked well when I enabled Reference 4 in my DAW. I recently bought a new laptop which required me to upgrade a lot of my plugins, including Reference 4. At the time I bought Reference 4, I was not employed as an educator so I wasn't sure if I was able to upgrade Reference 4 to SoundID with the educational discount, after speaking with an agent over their Chat on the website, I was able to get a quick answer to a few questions, their customer service seems quite excellent although I've never contacted them for any type of troubleshooting (yet). Sonarworks would go as far as letting customers know they could email a certain pair of headphones not included on their list to have them calibrated, I think this is exceptional, I do have a pair of headphones no longer on the market that I wish was included on the list and the only thing that stops me is that they are my absolute favourite pair of headphones and I wouldn't want to part with them for anything-even if it is to calibrate them to a good piece of software! As far as recommendations, I'm not sure what goes into the process of calibrating headphones but I kind of wish there was a way for customers to do it, after all, my understanding is you can calibrate your monitors if you have that version of Refernce/SoundID. Again, my knowledge of that process is limited so I'm happy to know that I could always mail them my headphones for calibration, I think that is going above and beyond customer service. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because I honestly believe no one, or anything is absolutely perfect, I have noticed a difference in calibration with the Samson's in the new SoundID vs. Reference 4 and I sometimes find that the sound is not translating as well as it was on the old Reference 4. For example, a snare sound would sound dull in the beginning at the first 1 or 2 hits and then sound snappy for the rest, I'm not sure why that is, as it doesn't seem like its latency, but overall, I'm happy with the product and will try to find a different pair of headphones on the calibrated list to try, my brother did end up purchasing Audio Technicas MH50X which he said I could try, so I'm looking forward to hearing what the calibration is like. Thank you Sonarworks for making a product that has helped me improve my mixes considerably as a home studio musician!”

“Download and installation of the trial version were very easy. Also measuring was no problem. But before my trial license went out, I bought the full version. And for that, I did not find it logical to activate a «2nd license» for the same product. But I found out and everything works fine now.”

“I did a demo period first and then a couple of weeks later i did the extended trial. And that last week of trial i figured out the power of just using the flat response calibration instead of trying to find the best sounding one in the list. What can beat a good flat response? After that, i knew i needed it and bought it without issues.”

“I am astonished at how much of an improvement Sonarworks SoundID Reference has brought to my 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos Hyper Near-Field Tiny Studio. The multichannel calibration system is remarkably simple to do while at the same time, it is scientifically accurate. The associated support materials on the Sonarworks website are most helpful too. Once the calibration profile is created it loads easily into Merging Technologies Anubis. This is brilliant software!”

“Everything went perfect on my purchase also the download. When I went to upgrade to add the speaker I chose the wrong upgrade but was immediately reimbursed on the first workday. Thank you Sonarworks. I'll have to wait a while to upgrade. I was a little confused about the upgrade. The website was just a little unclear to me. Support did clear that up for now. Thanks for the help. I'm so glad to have run across this company.”

“I found Sonarworks a trustful company with well-conceived audio products, also integrating a lot of great articles and many other helpful resources. Shopping online is rather easy, the information is well and quickly delivered as the product bought. And I found the support very quick and effective, one time I doubted choosing between the DAW plugin versus their standalone app. All in all, truly recommended.”

“I recently ordered individually calibrated Sennheiser Hd650 headphones. The shopping experience was quite easy and fluent. I googled "sonarworks + hd 650" and one of the top results was "Sennheiser HD 650 + Individual calibration" which I chose. One click on "buy it now" and my personal information and that's it. They arrived one day earlier than proposed and were sent with FedEx. I was always informed about the status of the package and felt comfortable with the process.”

“Everything was pretty senseless. The only thing I’d change is that your system would upgrade the license at the point of purchase, rather than having to buy the upgrade, then go back and apply it to a license. Not sure what the purpose of that is.”

“Cons: - Confusing options and upgrades! Don't make me buy one package and then upgrade it seconds later, like you did in your most recent marketing pitch. Coming from the trial I had to handle three keys or so, that became super confusing. - The UI scaling for stand alone app doesn't work properly - Had a bit trouble with with your drivers, had to reinstall. But once working it's fine. Pros: + Very good results + Impressive measurement procedure, super easy, great results.”

Hi Francois, Thanks for your review, we really appreciate it! Sorry to hear the product options and upgrades were a bit confusing! It is possible to upgrade certain licenses to a different product edition or upgrade legacy licenses to SoundID Reference. It is also possible to purchase the full SoundID Reference licenses if you're a new user, this way avoiding additional upgrades (or until you decide you would like to upgrade).
