The built-in online system is good so that we can enter our own details directly and its function is ok. However, before we apply, you need to give us a guidance for whether we can be classified as UK based resident first, because your firm is not going to accept the application of non-UK resident. From our point of view, we cannot 100% sure whether we are non-UK residents or not. For example, my child and I are British citizens. We are living in HK now and will relocate to UK in August. Ultimately, my child and I are classified as Non-UK residents. My wife had been living in Manchester since Oct. 2022, but it is found that it is very difficult and very costly (certification by lawyer will cost more than thousands pounds) for her to prove her photo ID and address ID. If a clear description of how to prove our photo ID and address ID as an UK resident as accepted by your firm, that will be much fair to us and much efficient to your execution staff.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We understand your frustration regarding ID documentation for non UK residents. This is why we ask all clients to confirm all persons are UK resident at the start of the application by ticking a box. This is done before we ask you to provide any data. You ticked this box but have also stated there were non UK residents in your application. We provide a phone number and online chat to answer any questions before and during the application process. The reason we ask is all persons are UK resident at the very start is because we are legally required to do identity checks on all persons connected to the application. For a non UK resident these checks can not be done via a simple online check as they can for a UK resident. They are onerous and time consuming for clients to prepare and for us to verify. We therefore restrict our company formation service to UK residents only to ensure we can maintain a value for money and competitive service. Thank you for your feedback.

Asking for this review is somewhat premature, because the formation hasn't yet been carried out. On 4th March you asked for a scanned copy of my passport, which I sent. Then on 7th March you asked for a certified copy of my passport by post, which I have had sent, but why not just ask for what you really need the first time and save three days and duplicated work?

Thank you for your review. We should have sent the review request after your company was formed, unfortunately human error led to the request being sent too early. I apologise for this. In the vast majority of cases we can identify clients using electronic ID checks without requesting any supporting documents or delaying the formation process. If these checks fail or the person is not UK resident we will need to request further documents. Sometimes documents can be accepted by email but on occasions the emailed document is not adequate so a certified copy by post is required as a final resort. Unfortunately, all formation agents are legally required to do these checks before we can register companies or LLP's. We do our very best to minimise delays but do understand they can be frustrating and we apologise for the delay. As soon as the certified ID is received in our office we will process the application.

Just concerned that I haven’t received any documentation to prove that the company exists.

When I have used your Company before the paper work was delivered next day however this time we are still waiting 6 days later In my opinion this is not acceptable and I certainly will not be using Simple formations ever again.

Thank you for the feedback. I believe you have spoken to one of the formation team this morning. All company formations must meet Money Laundering Regulations (MLR). As an intermediary (accountant), we asked you to provide documents that you meet MLR requirements. We have still not received the documentation which means we cannot register the company. I am sorry for the inconvenience but HMRC impose strict regulations and penalties on formation agents. We hope to receive the documents and register the company for you in due course. Regards, Mike.
