We had our wedding on 23rd July 2021 - only postponed once and we were so fortunate to be married the week after the restrictions were lifted. I didn't plan on writing a review until my mum told me the cost of this service and I felt compelled to warn others out there. 1) This service is on the high end of singing waiters and our experience was poor value for money. He wasn't a great singer and he wasn't happy to be there. 2) Anyone looking to book this as a surprise PLEASE know your audience - in particular the bride and groom. So the surprise didn't start well. The timing wasn't fabulous - people were still eating and a few tables hadn't had their dessert sent out yet. He did the trip with the spoons flying everywhere (same one you'll see on the videos) and bust his lip. It was kind of downhill from there. The singer was evidently very distracted by the bleeding lip (it bled through the entire set) as his singing wasn't great - it was very karaoke from start to finish, and this is one of the biggest reasons that I was surprised at the price. He led with Robbie Williams 'Let Me Entertain You' and pushed mics in people faces during parts of the song where there weren't any lyrics. The singer started to become frustrated with the lack of engagement from his (still eating) audience and one of the guests said he muttered "for f***'s sake" under his breath at one point. I thought he may have picked up that people weren't really vibing with the mic in face singing along, but he kept this up through the full 30 minutes with varying degrees of success. My new grandmother in law was dragged up for the conga (I can't believe congas at a wedding are still a thing). Obviously the restrictions have been lifted but this was a very hard and fast push away from social distancing. Halfway through the conga, she had to sit down and was helped outside as we thought she was going to pass out. This definitely isn't on the singer, however he did comment to the audience that wasn't singing "the bride and groom aren't here but please keep singing". He kept referencing that we weren't there which was quite embarrassing. I had hoped he might pick up on the social cue that she was genuinely quite unwell and take a break (about 10 of the 40 guests were with the grandmother) but he kept going. Possibly had a very tight script to keep to. This also just wasn't our bag as the bride and groom. If you're the type of couple who are straight on the karaoke stage for Sweet Caroline - you'll likely really enjoy this. I would implore anyone thinking about this as a surprise PLEASE run it by the maid of honour, or best man. They should know the couple well enough to know how it's going to go down. We spoke with the singer we'd booked for the daytime who actually knew the company well. They said that singing waiters are very hitty miss due to them not normally being booked by the bride and groom. This is so important to consider if you are thinking about booking a singing waiter. It isn't a nice feeling being embarrassed on your wedding day so please keep in mind when thinking of booking something like this. When you see the front page video with all the guests are joining in - please know that it often doesn't go like this and your money will be better spent elsewhere. It might well work at a wedding with kids (ours was adults only). At the very least - get a cheaper singing waiter. Unfortunately not worth the price when compared against others that offer the same service. The promise to "deliver an electric atmosphere" on their website was not met. Quite disappointing seeing the reviews and realising the company has not been honouring refunds or date changes in light of covid. 2 stars because he did turn up and stay the required time.
