Hi Charlie Don't worry we can help with that - we all have to start somewhere! Like anything, it gets easier the more you do it. Great that you got your sample pack from us OK though, and between the scalpel and the blade that it contains along with the sample piece of foam, we have lots of tools to help you use it effectively. I will email you separately with these details and then hopefully you'll get on with it much better from there. “The product was extremely difficult to work with , layers would not separate as expected the cutting kit supplied was use less , given the price charged I would never buy this product again .”

Hi Donald So sorry to hear your experience using the product. I will email you separately to send you some information and guides which I think will definitely help you get the most from your product. The layers aren't intended to separate on the layer points as you indicate. We advise that above and below the laminated layers is probably the easiest point to get a good peel and separation, but again the information I email you will hopefully help you with that. I'm sorry too that you didn't get along with the complimentary cutting kit we sent you with the order.... these have been really popular for many years, keeping people safe while they're cutting and giving them all they need to get great results - again I think our guides for use will be helpful for you so I'll send you more details on this too. We were really sorry to see your rating on the quality of service we offer where you have rated us with one star. I'd be particularly interested to hear more about how we have let you down in that regard. I can see that we shipped your order the very next day to the evening you ordered, and it was delivered on time the following day, with many communications and updates on your order being supplied between those times. We didn't receive any communication from you that I can see following that, to flag any issues or questions otherwise we would almost certainly have tried to help sooner. So please, if you could, do let us know how else we can improve in this regard as our customer service levels are really important to us. “Expected better to be honest. I ordered the yellow base as I wanted maximum contrast and whilst the foam is OK the black top layer was very poor - very heavily textured and thin and not like the sample that I had received previously. That said I was able to make some intricate cuts in the foam after making a paper template as the surface is too dark to use a marker to draw around and I didn't fancy the "trace with a knife" approach. I had to buy 3 pieces as this was the least cost option - I will probably freecycle the other two pieces.”

“After having been an avid user of the original sahdow foam i was sorely disappointed with its replacement product. It resembles a large block of bubble wrap which lacks density and is difficult to accurately cut to the form of quality tools and the easy peek layers seem far to well bonded together to be called easy peeling. If you want to display your prized possessions in what looks and feels like a large block of bubble wrap this is your product. For discerning tool users, dont be fooled by the premium price, this is a cost engineered product which really onlty suitable for construction tools in trade boxes. Shadow Foam, think you need to come up with a better solution!”

“Possibly not what Shadowfoam wants to hear, but I am quite disappointed overall. The 'easy peel' foam was quite difficult to peel, and actually tore in a few places leaving an unsightly pitted appearance. The foam itself is also not great quality. I can honestly say that I've received better quality foam used as throwaway packaging in some of the parcels I've received. For what it is, Shadowfoam is quite expensive. On the plus side the custom size was exactly what I ordered, but my overall experience has led me to look for alternatives to Shadowfoam.”

“Hi i didn't receive my free cutting kit, i think it was just completely forgotten about, ended up doing it with a Stanley knife so the finish was not very good. A bit disappointed.”

“Great website, loads of useful information, tips and video tutorials. Contact and delivery information outstanding. But...the product wasn’t what I had hoped for. Unfortunately the sheets were not flat, the laminating process had caused the sheets to be badly bowed. Having contact yourself’s I tried to flatten the sheets as you recommended with absolutely no success at all. I assuming that I must have received a bad batch as your reviews are 5 star. Sorry for the poor review. They made good kneeling pads for the lads in the workshop not my intended use. I am happy to discuss this review.”

“The foam sent was in red finish to the 30mm deep foam and 10mm deep foam to the top and base of my equipment case, which look OK in the top and base of my Archery case, but anything that presses into the red finish ends up on your equipment, hence what ever the spray finish is; it leaves it's colour residue all over the item it touches, and as I have over £2,500 worth of Recurve Archery equipment in the box, I am not that impressed as it is difficult to remove from my equipment without using a spirit, which is not the best thing to use with a £1,600 carbon fibre riser and limbs or the £900 worth of stabilisers and sight. Feel that I have wasted my money in purchasing the coloured foam and my time cutting it out, only to find that afterwards the red residue is all over my equipment where it touches the red surfaces.”

“When I received the parcel the packaging was partially opened on the long edge (scotch too thin). There was also two holes. One of them damaged the foam itself. The cardboard is not enough rigid to protect correctly the product during the transport. Nevertheless, the foam quality is as expected.”

“5-7 days delivery. Not brilliant. Harder to cut out than you think. Cutting tool is just a scalpel/craft knife, my Handle was bent where the blade fits so had to straighten it. Was expecting to get a facing/ backing on the foam, not just foam. This may increase the wear around the most used items. Heyho! You live and you learn. If there's a next time, I would use the stuff that mechanics kneeling pads are made from.”
