“I have used Shadow foam many times in the past ( I play Airsoft so use it in boxes to keep my guns and magazines safe ) I must say I am getting better in cutting the shapes though rifles are a pain because of the shape and size. One thing I have learnt is preparation my last box I took my time and measured it all out and used masking tape and it turned out really well. This time to help secure the magazines in place I also use Velcro straps As shadow foam is quite dense a slit either side of the magazines and threaded the Velcro in and it holds the magazines in nicely they weigh a bit and would fall from the lid without. I also used the strap method for some pieces I don’t always carry so did not want to cut a space for. A scalpel is the best thing to cut the foam with I have tried with craft knives but the results are not as good. One thing I did find on the nurpol boxes is that buying the full box 3 sheets is expensive and you are most likely only going to use the lid and one of the main body pieces. I bought 2 lid pieces and cut 1 down to fit the main body I would of like it to be thicker but was not going to buy a full set and not use a piece If you read this review please sell the pieces individually all 3 pieces and as a set you are more likely to sell more especially for people that have more than one rifle The thicker main body section is more useful than the thinner piece especially if you are using the lid If you use the lid then using all 3 pieces tends to be too much because of the shape of the rifle with bits sticking up I ended up with using the lid Then the original egg shell foam as a protective layer then shadow foam at the bottom where my rifle is Again I ask you please sell as individual sheets and not as a lid and 2 main body sheets I can’t add a picture at this time as I don’t have the rifle at the time of writing this ( being upgraded)”

“Did the drawers in my tool cabinet. Cutting the foam to fit the drawers i found difficult using a scalpel. I did eventually use a large carving knife which i sharpened really sharp. This cut it perfect. Actually cutting the shapes out to accommodate specific tools, got better as i progressed. I advise that you watch the video before you start....But the chap makes it look easy haha.....Anyway.....Good stuff and i was happy with the results”

“Slow and careful is the key, even when I thought I was going slow enough I found I needed to be slower. Rush at your peril. Hardest thing I found was holding the scalpel dead upright. Biggest mistake I made was not keeping tight to tools etc. I have a sheet in the lid of my flight case and had to find a thicker pen & pencil :-( My tips for others is use a rule to cut out for screwdriver shafts, pens and the like, secondly, cut them tight to get a good hold.”
