Our engineer was extremely polite and pleasant but unfortunately this call out will represent £90 wasted that we can ill afford for no tangible result. We did not think the fault had been isolated and we were correct - we called an alternative provider who found a further loop and valve tucked into the eaves of the bungalow, further round into the chalet roof than we have ever been and THAT was the problem. The engineer found it by very careful listening and tracking of an air lock. We now have heating and hot water again. We used SGS as they service the boilers at the school where I teach, but we will not be able to afford to use them again. Merry Christmas.

I had email confirmation of a service between 08.00 and 09.00. The engineer dis not turn up until 10.00. He initially insisted that he was on time. He then showed me that his office had booked him for between 10 and 12. Very annoying for me as I had arranged everything around the specific time I was given. I expect better service, especially when paying £90 for what turned out to be a 25 minute service.

I called as our boiler still under guarantee was leaking. The engineer came out in good time only to tell us that they don't deal with the replacement of parts and for us to call the makers of the boiler to arrange for one of their engineers to come out. This was all at a cost of £72. Why wasn't I told this when arranging for the engineer to come? - I have paid £72 for nothing.

The overall rating I give is very poor-poor. Paul is a very good oil boiler engineer but should stated our boiler was too old to go on the boiler scheme. Gavin too is an excellent engineer and a very decent person. Mike, however, was very poor and completely screwed up our boiler leading to numerous call-outs from Gavin. Mike only came out to carry out a boiler inspection and service. I have three very severely disabled Sons who must be kept warm as two of them suffer from Muscular Dystrophy, over this weekend, we very nearly had to send them both into hospital for their own safety because of SGS, how that would have made us look in the eyes of the authorities doesn't bear thinking about. Gavin has been the hero, but this was all completely unnecessary and just highlights three different engineers, three different ways of thinking, leading to an absolute F**k up. Thank the Lord our boiler IS too old for your scheme, one can only imagine what screwups would have been waiting for us in the future.

Mr Spencer Many thanks for your feedback which is obviously disappointing for us to read. We will look into the issues you've raised as a matter of urgency and come back to you as quickly as possible. Kind regards SGS Heating & Electrical
Engineer rang before he came, and came as arranged. Polite and professional. I was advised when booking that servicing 2 boilers, one gas water heater and two gas hobs would take 3 hours. I learnt two days before they came it was going to cost £370 plus VAT, which I thought was expensive but for 3 hours work plus travelling wasn't extortionate. However engineer was only there for an hour and half including completing paperwork. Which proved astronomically expensive per hour, especially as our church is struggling financially to survive. Would I use them again ? No I'll be trying to find someone cheaper.

Many thanks for your feedback. We have looked into this issue and responded to you directly. Kind regards SGS Heating & Electrical
My boyfriend called SGS at 9am on a Friday (today) following a water leak in the kitchen and was assured an emergency plumber would be in touch 'shortly'. At 1pm we rang back for an update considering we're without water and had taken a day off work to wait in. It's now 5:30pm and the office is closed for the weekend and still no engineer... now expecting out of office hours charges. If they were just honest and said they were too busy we could have gone elsewhere.

As a residential care home and believe that we are considered 'priority' I found this quite poor that we had to wait for nearly a month for the part to be fitted as no-one was available to fit it

Many thanks for this feedback. We apologise for the inconvenience caused and are investigating the circumstances around this particular job. I can assure you that our response times and speed of repairs are usually excellent. Kind regards SGS Heating & Electrical Ltd
Great service and very prompt. But the call out charge of £90 to be told they can’t fix the boiler is a little excessive but seems aligned to the general market unfortunately.

Hi John, I've looked into this situation for you. Unfortunately we do have a standard call out charge which has to apply. I understand from the engineer who visited that you're having a new boiler installed soon. If SGS were installing that boiler for you we could have looked at the call out charge but it looks like we were never given the opportunity to quote for the boiler. Kind regards SGS Heating & Electrical LTd
If it wasn't for the out of hours service I wouldn't use this firm, from an organisational perspective they are shambolic. l Had an engineer come out on en emergency appointment to look at a problem with my hot water. Part was ordered and booked in for a further visit 3 weeks later. Took time off work, waited for engineer to arrive at 8am. After calling the office received a call back from the engineer to say the part was in Italy. Was assured the office would monitor and call me once the part was received. No call!. Rang the office, 6 weeks after the original callout, was told the part had been delivered some time ago. Made an 8am appointment. By 8:30 no engineer, so I called the office and an officious lady told me first call appointments were between 8 and 9am. I rang again at 9:10, the lady I spoke to this time apologised and contacted the engineer, who was stuck in traffic following overnight snow. When I spoke with the engineer, he told me he had been telephoned by the office following my first call and told the lady he was running late, unfortunately she didn't have the courtesy to tell me this.

Good afternoon Helen, It saddens me to hear the above comments. Due to the unforeseen weather conditions and festive period, our hands were tied by opening hours and delivery times. Unfortunately the part that was required for your repair had to be sourced direct from the manufacturer in Italy. SGS responded as quickly as we could. We do apologise for any inconvenience caused in this matter. We hope to work with you in the future. Kind regards, Jon Wallace Service Manager
