“I am an avid reader but has fallen into a bit of a reading rut. When my partner bought me a Rare Birds Book subscription for my birthday I had no idea what to expect. But I absolutely love it! The books are not ones I would necessarily choose, so have widened my reading and I have thoroughly enjoyed every single one. The online forums are informative and insightful and make you feel connected to a group of likeminded people! I recommend Rare Birds Books at least twice a week - I can’t speak high enough of it! I just wish I lived closer so I could come in store!”

“The book choices are great, the packaging beautiful and the mystery of not finding out your choice until the book is delivered is exciting. Being given the option of choosing from two books is inspiring and makes me think about what I'd like to read without knowing who the author is. “Was bought a 6 month subscription as a present. Lovely idea. I choose one book a month based on written descriptions of the books. So have no idea what getting!! Books arrive beautifully packaged Only small complaint is choosing between 2 books per month is limited. Would prefer to select book from 4 or 5 titles.”

They're always beautifully packaged, and I love how Rare Birds takes the faff out of it by just sending you the book-club books (as opposed to just nominating a book, and then you have to scrape around to find it yourself). It's really exciting not to be told the exact book-title, but rather just to choose based on a general synopsis - it's almost like getting a present each time it arrives because you never know quite what's coming! Thoroughly recommend.”

“I LOVE Rare Bird Book store but I live in Glasgow and don’t go to Edinburgh much. Whenever I visit the capital it’s my first port of call. I love everything they stand for and there are always so many books I want to read! I have a bit of a habit of buying tonnes of books at once and then don’t always get through them so when I saw they had a book club it sounded perfect! I LOVE the way it’s set up, each month you get and email prompting you to choose your book from two descriptions. I’ve already read two books I would t have picked up myself and loved them both! I tell everyone about the book club. If you’re a book lover, who wants to supper a female led small business then get yourself signed up- you won’t regret it ❤️”

It would be better if you had a more detailed profile of each reader and then you could offer more appropriate books. The way you wrap the books is superb.”

I love that you get a flavour of 2 books to choose from, so you at least know it’s something you’d be interested to read, but at the same time it’s been fun reading genres I wouldn’t normally pick up.”
