I ordered a space saver wheel and kit for my 2025 VW Polo. I was aware that the wheel was second hand but unused which I was happy about. What I wasn't happy about was when I went to collect it. The tyre was nicely painted a shiny black to give the impression that it was fairly new, however the DOT code showed 3006 indicating it was manufactured in 2006, nineteen years ago. I pointed this out to the assistant who said this seemed wrong. He took it away and came back and said another tyre was being fitted to the wheel. I declined this and requested a refund. I suggested that this seemed sharp practice to try and sell an old tyre for £140 inc the kit. He told me it was a genuine mistake. I find this hard to believe. I will not be using The Wheel Shop again ! A very poor experience

Hello Ian, I would like to clarify our policy regarding the age of tyres. Typically, NEW tyres are considered suitable for retail sale for up to 5 years from the original date of production, provided they are stored according to the manufacturer's guidance. This '5-year rule' is an industry standard based on the German BRV recommendation. Because you purchased a second-hand tyre, the same age-related criteria used for new tyres do not apply. For second-hand tyres the one we have advertised for your car, there is currently no established standard to determine their expiry date, as their durability can be affected by various factors, such as temperature, load, and the velocity at which the vehicle travels. Regarding space-saver tyres, they do not have an expiration date as they are not typically exposed to the factors that can affect their durability. Even if the tyre is over 10 years old you would still be legally permitted to use that wheel. Spare wheels are typically stored in the boot and they are not subject to weather conditions that could cause rubber to crack or split. However, we strive to ship tyres that are not older than 10 years, recognising that age can be a concern for our customers. Because the tyre we supplied was over ten years old, we offered you an exchange for a 2024 tyre. Legally, we were not obligated to do this, but we understood your concerns about the age and attempted to resolve the issue. You did not accept our offer to replace the tyre with a brand-new one completely free of charge.

We’re truly sorry to hear about your disappointing experience. We understand your frustration and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused. However, we’d like to clarify that we had informed you in advance that the wheels in stock were a different color from those in the listing. We also advised you to refuse the delivery if this was an issue, and as an additional measure, we offered a free collection in case the wheels were delivered. Despite this, the wheels were accepted, and the tyres were fitted. Nevertheless, we still offered to arrange a free collection, even after the wheels had been fitted, to help resolve the matter. You also requested that we supply black paint. We believe that spray paint would not be a durable solution, as it may start to peel off after a few months. We genuinely value your feedback and regret that this situation has caused frustration. Please feel free to reach out if there’s anything more we can do to assist you.

Made we wait in three times with no show before I gave up and had refund, this could be excused but attitude about it was so bad that I won’t be reordering from them, here is an idea when you mess your customers about instead of attitude how about saying sorry

I am writing to sincerely apologize for the delayed delivery of your recent order. We understand how frustrating it can be to experience such delays, and we deeply regret any inconvenience caused. At The Wheel Shop , we strive to provide a seamless and efficient delivery experience for all our customers. However, in this particular instance, the delay was beyond our control as it was caused by circumstances involving a third-party company responsible for the delivery process. Despite our best efforts, we were unable to expedite the situation due to factors beyond our influence. Attached: Email conversation screenshot showing our efforts to communicate and apologize for the situation. Thank you for your understanding, patience, and continued support. We deeply apologize for the inconvenience caused and look forward to serving you better in the future.

17″ Space saver spare wheel + tool kit compatible with MG HS (2017-Present day) Unfortunately, this specific item cannot be secured in the boot of the vehicle because the securing bolt is too short. So currently I have a very heavy, dangerous spare wheel that cannot be secured. I have now got to try and find somebody that sells a securing a longer securing bolt. Very unhappy.

I ordered a wheel & kit and the company's delivery company failed to deliver, let alone on time for the express delivery I paid for. At one point through the correspondence it seemed this may have been resolved until receiving a call from TWS and the argumentative person representing the company. Despite advising their delivery company had been given specific instructions in addition to the order, I had to remind this person who had paid the money, and who was the customer - I'll spend my money elsewhere and hopefully with a more reliable and courteous company - Road Hero has good reviews and a distribution network.
