The tracer is good and has functioned well. I felt misled, however, by the website which suggested that I could buy a monthly subscription plan OR buy the unit outright. I bought it outright and when it arrived, I enjoyed using it for 5 days before suddenly I was required to buy a £90 annual subscription. By this time I had thrown away the packaging. I have asked the company to change this webpage; https://www.pettracer.co.uk/shop/ so that customers can easily see that if they buy the unit outright, they ALSO have to pay £90/year to operate the unit! They have not agreed to make this easy clarification.

My cat went missing for 2 weeks. It turned out he'd been hit by a car, someone had tried to take him to the vets but he'd escaped from her. So he was not only injured but also lost in a strange area. When I got him home I wanted a tracking collar, after browsing online and reading reviews I decided on PetTracer. The main reason for my choice was that it has the longest battery life and also uses gps and rf to track. The collar is fairly lightweight, not too chunky at all. My cat likes to roll in the dirt, he can't wear a traditional collar as they twist on his neck when he's rolling around but this one is fine, plus it has the quick release clip on the fabric part of the collar if he did get it caught on something. PetTracer advertise up to 30 days battery life which may well be achievable on the least frequent update setting or if you have an inactive cat. My boy however is an extremely adventurous and active Savannah cat, so I'm only managing about 1 week. That's still better than the other trackers though. The tracking isn't pinpoint perfect but it's within about 10 feet so pretty good. I live on a steel hulled boat which blocks the gps signal, unless he's by a window, however I can tell if he's at home because the RF signal is at it's maximum. The base unit needs to be connected to wifi all the time to work, which is a challenge for me with the unreliable internet that comes with living on a boat; the marina wifi has let me down more than the tracker. It's possible to go mobile with the tracking aerial by connecting a power bank and hooking up to a mobile phone for the internet connection, which would help when searching a wider area. My only real criticism would be that a subscription is needed for each collar. I would like to be able to buy a second collar, so that I can swap collars when it needs charging. Flint is an active cat so there is a rick of him going missing when his collar is on charge. Since there is no swappable battery (which I appreciate helps with water resistance) it would be good to have a 2nd collar to swap, but not at the expense of a 2nd subscription!

This has been a great he;p to us and our outdoor kitty. The collar is small and lightweight and doesn't seem to bother him at all. It pretty much always have coverage, even though we live in a populated area. Luckily, he has never got lost, but it is a great peace of mind for us to know where he goes, and that we have a way of tracking him should he get lost. Also wanted to give a shout out to the customer service team, who have been amazingly supportive and friendly whenever we have been in contact.

I really like many aspects of these trackers. The bulge on the collars is a bit on the bulky side for smaller cats, but the bonus radio search on top of GPS is the future of pet trackers. Customer service is also excellent and fast.

Light, comfortable and safe collar Combined radio and GPS technologies work very well. I have used the search function successfully on 3 occasions Integrated LED light which can be switched on remotely to assist search Easy to use mobile and desktop apps Long battery life between charges Safety release band with option of a harder release band for stronger cats Excellent customer support

The collar gives me a good insight of where my cat likes to hang out (I refer to the heat mode). I find the radio tracking particularly helpful as I can judge exactly how far he is from home. He managed to lose it one time but I was able to locate it using the active search mode. Customer support is excellent.

What more can I say, Outstanding!! It's rare for me to leave reviews but i felt I had to on pettracers brilliant tracker system. they must have spent ages designing it. We have been after a proper tracker for years now and finally....thank you, brilliant support from Anna @ customer services also btw. It wasn't bought to see where our cats are going, even though this feature is very useful and was an eye opener! quite fun to go walking through the fieIds and pay them a surprised visit to see the look on their faces, priceless :-) It was purchased after spending many years looking for a tracker that does what it should do and it does exactly that, the base station is genius, especially as you can make it into a mobile tracker system if your pets have wandered like ours do, it turns your tracker system into one that can also use radio frequencies to locate your pud (it'll go through brick walls, sheds and the likes where all the other tracker systems on the market do not, they only locate via GPS so if your cat is holed up under cover inside a shed or farm building etc, you're stuffed, you won't find them, you could walk straight past them!!) You can also activate a flashing white LED on the collar from the app that's handy too. Good addition is the reflective tape for the collar, a good torch spots it far away. I could go on but I'll leave it at that, you won't be disappointed...oh yes...one more thing, we have a 13 year old cat that has never warn any type of collar in his life, just trying to put a fabric one on is sufferable by risk of injury to myself and my hands, tonight, he is wearing a pettracer collar, no injuries to me, after 10 minutes of not moving, he's now scoffing his food like normal and all's well in the house.

Collar looks and feels more comfortable than any other collars I have seen. Great to ascertain my cat’s whereabouts and typical haunts. It did unclip in the first week and was able to go mobile with the home station and find it easily. Highly recommend.

Device lasted a week before it stopped working. Setup process is overly complicated and in an age where a GPS trackers are available the size of a £2 coin, this collar requires a base station and is huge and made of hard material. My cats all looked very uncomfortable and thoroughly unhappy while wearing it. Until PetTracer make it much smaller, more flexible and comfortable, and do away with the base station. Steer clear.

We've had Pettracer for a good few months now but have taken time to consider our thoughts. I wouldn't get Pettracer today given the choice. Summary of concerns (which are elaborated on below): * Safety concerns. I asked about what testing was done on the 'safety catch' and what weight it opened under. The answer I got back from them was brief - they didn't mention testing had been done other than it 'is very safe' and didn't answer what weight the collar opened under. The collar also doesn't open if heavy weight is applied slowly - it needs an immediate jolt. The collars that arrived were coloured with a label to say how one of the collars opens easier than the other colour and that it is the owners responsibility to choose the appropriate collar. You should not be putting this decision into the hands of your consumer especially as you give them no supporting metrics to make that choice; it's either safe, or it's not. * Riddled with technical issues * Faulty collars received / badly made * Difficult to find when the cat looses it (see comments below) * Overpriced When our product arrived, I followed the setup instructions and downloaded their software. The software would not detect the collar at all and it took me a while to realise it required additional drivers to be installed which weren't in the setup instructions. This was on an updated version of Windows 10 - it's 2021, these things really should be plug and play these days. When we got it installed, we configured the collar and it took half a day to get it connected to our WiFi. It wouldn't seem to connect to our local network as despite accepting the WiFi password, it felt like it had some unknown cap on password length without making it obvious to the consumer. We had to change our WiFi password to get it working. In addition to this, it didn't like the fact our home network doesn't run on 192.168.X.X - not all routers run on this range so it shouldn't be a problem as long as everything is standards compliant. The thing that doesn't seem to adhere to any sort of standards is the Pettracer device so some people will inevitably run into issues. I did flag my comments regarding this with them but never heard back from the technical team. When everything was finally setup, we took the collar outdoors and it wouldn't get a GPS signal. We contacted them and they acknowledged that the collar was faulty and we had to send it back. At this point, we had waited over a month for the first collar to arrive, experienced technical issues with the product because it isn't particularly well built, and had a hardware fault on the collar itself. Now we had to wait for another one - this was not a good start. When the new collar arrived, we got it connected and a GPS position was obtained. We've been using the collar for a few months and here is our feedback having got good use out of it: Generally, when the collar works, it works well and the position is updated on the map as per the speed settings. We've had one instance where the radio device wouldn't connect to their servers for several hours despite it being connected to our WiFi - we contacted them and they briefly acknowledged their servers were overloaded but detracted from the issue at hand and wrote an entire essay about how the cats collar doesn't update when it goes outside of radio range which was not the issue. Having inspected the traffic that goes from the radio device, it seems to be going to a server provider in Germany (Hetzner) which are often referred to as a budget provider. And generally, that's how this whole product and experience feels like. Made on the cheap, supported by budget infrastructure, and sold at an extortionate price. Unfortunately, a couple of months into using the product, we lost the collar. Despite attempts to find it, we were unsuccessful. Kind of ironic for a GPS device. The collar was lost in dense woodland and losing it is certainly better than any harm coming to our cat. However, the tools they provide you to find it are poor. You can enable a flashing light remotely which isn't bright, and get a rough signal strength to see if you're close, but I feel these tools aren't enough. Me and my partner both had the app open and we were getting different signal strengths at the same time? The signal strength is based on the distance from the collar to the radio device so shouldn't have got different data back? Yet more technical bugs. What they really need to do is put an audible beeper / similar onto the collar so when you're close, you can activate the sound and save yourself the extortionate cost of £114 for a replacement. Beepers are very small / light weight so I can't see why they haven't done this. It would be helpful if they also exposed the exact GPS coordinates to further assist you finding it. We wont be renewing our subscription when it expires.

We waited a couple of months after paying for the product before it was available. Within a couple of days it was clear that our cat was coming home without the collar quite often. He's got it on the smallest sizing and with the inlay band for smaller cats, but perhaps it's just not suitable for cats of all sizes. After losing it many times but somehow managing to find it, this final time we have been unable to get it back. Having spent nearly £200 I would have hoped for more than 2 weeks of use. Additionally, I would say that even on 'fast mode' which is supposed to send a signal back most frequently, the points plotted were usually 15/30 minutes apart. When you've lost the collar (or cat if still attached to it!) you don't want to know where it was 30 minutes before it was lost.

Hi, Thank you for your review and we are sorry to hear your cat was unable to wear our collar. petTracer is suitable for most cats, as per our FAQ: The collar has a minimum circumference of 21.5cm which can be reduced by around 2.5cm with an inlay band from our shop Regarding the modes, when trying to find your cat/collar you can select Search Mode to get a position every 15 seconds The Fast mode will give you a signal every 10 min when the cat is moving and 60min when the cat is not moving. This is part of our technology to preserve battery when your cat is not lost.

My cat finds wearing the collar agreeable. It also gives me confidence to let him out again after he got injured and did not come home. However, the collar can be slow to obtain satelite signal and the positions given are frequently inaccurate. The position accuracy should be sufficient to locate a cat (can put you within a few metres of true location), but I think finding the collar on its own could be difficult.

We’ve only just got our pet tracer and so far it’s doing everything it says on the box. The team has been very helpful and quick to respond. The collar has a good battery life. We take the cat indoor at night and switch the collar on 24h to save battery life. Thankfully the cat hasn’t disappeared so we haven’t had to test the mobile radio mode. Also haven’t been away yet so will have to see what happens then but so far so good!

Great tool if you're concerned about your ferries. Our cat got seriously ill and wondered off, we thought he'd gone off to die. The tracer helped us find him. We got him to the vets, they operated on him and now he's fit and healthy and very happy.

Peace of mind knowing where you cat is, while really interesting tracking their territory. Really easy to use App with a variety of options. You can change how often your pet is tracked, whether you see a heat spot for duration of stay, or lines of travel or just a blob with the actual time they were there. I now know all his favourite haunts and when he is liable to be there. Needless to say, being a cat he is mostly asleep, but its good to know which sunny spot he is in. We have had this for months, still on the original collar clip and only had a couple of App blips which didn't last long. I have the app on my mobile but not sure if you could use it on a laptop, but the only downside is if you don't have a mobile phone. When you really need to hunt your pet down, you use your mobile as a hotspot for wifi and use the charging hub, which has an aerial, to go out and find your pet from the last point on the app. The app alone may not home in enough to find your pet.

3 Stars My cat has become lost on a few occasions and the collar hasn't helped in any of these which has been really disappointing as the signal hasn't picked up. It does help in giving a picture of his habits though which is helpful. The collar is good, doesn't get in the way and he's comfortable wearing it. Would be good to get a text to say the collar was low rather than an e-mail. Staff very pleasant and helpful.
