“I adopted a 2 year old Maine Coon who had never been allowed outside before. I had given her a slow introduction to the garden, on a harness, so she was familiar with "home" but naturally, on day one without the harness, she went over the fence into the neighbouring allotments! She was gone all day and well into the night. The tracker meant we were able to locate her hiding in a pile of pallets - not sure if she was stuck or just scared. Either way, we were very glad to be able to find her.
The only reason I'm not giving this 5 stars is the flashing blue light! I appreciate that it is a good indicator that everything is connected and working, but as I have to keep it on my bedroom windowsill for the best position for the garden, the blue flashing light keeps me awake and I'm sure it's not too pleasant for my neighbours either! As I currently keep the cats in overnight, I can the device off, but when they are allowed out at night I'll have to cover the blue LED.”
“we are finding it difficult to use the 'Activate search mode' facility.
Either we are doing it wrong or it is to complicated to use.
Can you help please.
Kind regards Mr. SJ Perry”
“Very good, we haven’t lost our cat since taking the petTracer. Lost the collar though a couple of times but found it again with amazing accuracy which is reassuring.
The only criticism is that it is a bit bulky for our small cat.”
“Set up was straightforward although not clear why the need to instal to PC/MAC when the mobile App is the more useful platform to use. Generally, the location of the cat is fairly reliable although sometimes location points can be a bit rogue and off the patch. That said over the course of a number of hours you get a good picture of broadly where the cat is. The fluorescent bands we bought both came off in a matter of days so these need rethinking. We’ve bought an entire roll on Amazon for considerably less money! Also had to re glue the inner rubber reduction band as the adhesive didn’t last long. Sometimes the app logs out for no reason and it won’t log on again until you get back to near the station. A good addition would be a beeper. This would help locating a lost collar which we had to do. The location wasn’t quite where the App said it was. A beep would have saved us a couple of hours! Sorry lots of gripes. But customer service is excellent. Email only but all queries and questions have been answered promptly and professionally and personally written - no cut and paste, all friendly and supportive. There is no phone or live chat so don’t know why that is an option below?”
“I'm pleased to have found out the areas my cat visits. But the collar often cant find a satellite even when i can see the cat outside. But i am happy to know where she is when it does work.”
“Very good product as long as you keep it well charged. We lost the collar once but a neighbour returned it - keep it well secured on the cat. We haven’t used the search feature yet but very reassuring to know where our Simba goes!”
“I have two wayward Bengal crosses and after one of them went on a 4 day adventure that felt like a gap year,I got PetTracer for both of them. Not only is it interesting bordering on obsession creating monitoring their territories and how they evolve, but it means I can always check in on their whereabouts, and sometimes,if necessary, go and find/rescue them. We live in an urban area and I decided to let them go outside, but roads are terrifying, and sometimes so are foxes and other cats. This feels like a compromise that doesn't crush their spirit but allows me to keep tabs. The only reasons I'm not giving this the full 5 stars-are that the cost is a lot,and the coverage isn't perfect - and we have yet to be able to make the radio function for portable tracking work - but in terms of feeling close to them at all times, and being able to find them when it's time to come home, Pet Tracer is a brilliant investment.”
“Excellent customer service, very helpful advice and explanation. I researched several options before choosing PetTracer and I am glad I did. Our boy disappears regularly for days at a time and now we know his territory and that he is mostly over at the neighbours farm. It did take me a while to fully understand the way the collar works and why/how Diggle could be home and the last gps signal was still showing him as away - which is until the next communication with the collar. It didn't concern Diggle to get used to wearing the collar even as a semi-feral. I will say the catch is not a safety catch as I cannot pull it open without unclasping, so I fit it quite loose and we did lose it once, but of course were able to go mobile with the base station and find the collar in a field of peas which was a good test. The metal keeper on the fabric part of the collar was too big and useless so I removed it and stitched the spare end down which worked well. The battery lasts a good week on fast and the reminder by email that the battery is getting low is very useful. An alert of some kind when the collar/your cat comes back into range would give greater peace of mind I think. Overall I am very pleased with the PetTracer.”
“It's really good overall. The app is really good and you can view on a PC too. The collars are a bit big and bulgy. The batteries never last as long as advertised - no way up to 30 days - a week maximum and generally 2 to 5 days”
“We use petracer with our cat and it provides reassurance of where she may be, if she has not returned home within a couple of hours. We had problems with the equipment initially but this was eventually resolved. In terms of improvements, the map detailing zoom could be better and maybe a tag/bell incorporated. But generally speaking, I would highly reccomens this product.”
“My cat went missing for 2 weeks. It turned out he'd been hit by a car, someone had tried to take him to the vets but he'd escaped from her. So he was not only injured but also lost in a strange area. When I got him home I wanted a tracking collar, after browsing online and reading reviews I decided on PetTracer. The main reason for my choice was that it has the longest battery life and also uses gps and rf to track. The collar is fairly lightweight, not too chunky at all. My cat likes to roll in the dirt, he can't wear a traditional collar as they twist on his neck when he's rolling around but this one is fine, plus it has the quick release clip on the fabric part of the collar if he did get it caught on something. PetTracer advertise up to 30 days battery life which may well be achievable on the least frequent update setting or if you have an inactive cat. My boy however is an extremely adventurous and active Savannah cat, so I'm only managing about 1 week. That's still better than the other trackers though. The tracking isn't pinpoint perfect but it's within about 10 feet so pretty good. I live on a steel hulled boat which blocks the gps signal, unless he's by a window, however I can tell if he's at home because the RF signal is at it's maximum. The base unit needs to be connected to wifi all the time to work, which is a challenge for me with the unreliable internet that comes with living on a boat; the marina wifi has let me down more than the tracker. It's possible to go mobile with the tracking aerial by connecting a power bank and hooking up to a mobile phone for the internet connection, which would help when searching a wider area. My only real criticism would be that a subscription is needed for each collar. I would like to be able to buy a second collar, so that I can swap collars when it needs charging. Flint is an active cat so there is a rick of him going missing when his collar is on charge. Since there is no swappable battery (which I appreciate helps with water resistance) it would be good to have a 2nd collar to swap, but not at the expense of a 2nd subscription!”
“I really like many aspects of these trackers. The bulge on the collars is a bit on the bulky side for smaller cats, but the bonus radio search on top of GPS is the future of pet trackers. Customer service is also excellent and fast.”
“We’ve only just got our pet tracer and so far it’s doing everything it says on the box. The team has been very helpful and quick to respond.
The collar has a good battery life. We take the cat indoor at night and switch the collar on 24h to save battery life.
Thankfully the cat hasn’t disappeared so we haven’t had to test the mobile radio mode. Also haven’t been away yet so will have to see what happens then but so far so good!”
“Great tool if you're concerned about your ferries. Our cat got seriously ill and wondered off, we thought he'd gone off to die. The tracer helped us find him. We got him to the vets, they operated on him and now he's fit and healthy and very happy.”
