NOTE: This is my second attempt to add this review on reviews.io which was posted September 2024 - after I participated in the 2024 Summer School in Oxford. The first attempt resulted in ORA going into “resolution mode”, but we never heard from them following our reply. Then the original review disappeared, but we have mail documenting the initial review and the attempted resolution. However, we found out that the review URL was still valid now 1y later… so here is a copy of my review sent last year with correction of a few spelling issues. My initiel review (which was given 2 stars): So, where do i even start. When i first arrived at the airport my parents had paid for the shuttle, which stated that they would send kids of every hour as they arrived. But i ended up waiting 2 hours because they waited for kids to arrive so we could form a group, like that was not the money worth it if you stated something else. Anyway, i arrived and got checked in which was fine, however where not told anything else was happening until 4/5 (cannot not remember the time exactly). Like there was zero communication from any of the counsellors and the staff. Next morning we had lessons were i thought they had rented a classroom or something in the actual university (should not have that high hopes) but turns out we were in a homeless shelter. Which is fine, however i did not feel safe while being surrounded by a man who was having a trip on opioids. And if you pay that high a fee of tuition you would expect at least taking in to consideration a real classroom, but we got a theater room. My course which was racing extinction, was relatively good (i liked my teacher), but the actual subjects was mostly about the UN and international relations. Not climate change. When it comes to free time i expected being allowed to go out after class only two people. But in the first week we were allowed out maybe two times and only as a group of three. There was this big emphasis on "privileges" and strikes, which irked me. Like if you did not look while crossing the street (who dosen‘t?) you could not go out and if you opened a door for somebody you got "privileges" (but who is monitoring that? and why is that even a thing to have to teach to 13-15 year olds?). A lot of activities were promised but almost nothing happened and they were cancelled. The rooms (do not get me started), at least mine, was filthy. There was male beard hair all over my sink and lime scale. In the shower there was black mold and this thick layer of limescale that made rotating the shower head impossible. The tiles were brown and my towels were covered in hair (not my own). If is there is something to note to the company, is that you need a way to communicate to the students. I had to constantly go outside to see if anything changed and could not get ahold of the counsellors. Final question: Is it worth it? Absolutely not. If you are from a country, like mine, where you apply for uni or high school with only grades it will never be mentioned again in any way. But if you do it to put on extracurriculars while applying for uni, it's gonna mean nothing as it is not affiliated with any form of qualification. And money wise, go on a vacation! Oh and also, the head office and actual staff do not communicate at all. The partys are medium fun and the only part of Oxford you are gonna see is the dining hall and merch stores.

My daughter did the first « Architecture & Design «  in end of June. The teacher was terrible… she didn’t want to be there and resented teaching and was only doing it for money as she had debts.

The lessons were not as good as expected, arts and architecture in specific was a HUGE disappointment, we didn't even get to touch a piece of paper during the workshop. I had the impression that some teachers were not qualified enough to do their job, as they were also collaged students from Oxford I felt like they weren't as engaged to the lesson as the ORA students. Some counselors were extremely rude at all times. Also, I felt like Ron wasn't principled enough with us students to be in his position. There is a handful of counselors that I really liked and would like to thank for being so considerate with our issues, especially Rachel, Izzie and Sophie (or Sofia, don't remember). Overall, the only good thing that I experienced out of this camp was the amount of worldwide friends that I made, whom I know will last a lifetime. But you can make friends anywhere, so I recommend enrolling your child in another summer program in Oxford, as there are much more to choose.
