“About 4/5 people replied and no one followed up and some said they would ring back but didn’t. It was small job but preparation for a much larger one so it would actually have been more worthwhile than people thought but if people aren’t polite enough to say if they are not coming why bother to post a job anyway? Not necessarily the web sites fault but it is distressing when you are really worried about a problem with repairs.”

Some things to consider when receiving quotes is that tradespeople have to cover various costs like tools, vans, fuel, insurance, admin, etc before they even make a profit. These costs apply even if it is only a shed roof, since they're general business costs regardless of the nature of the roof. If the job is simple, perhaps a local independent handyman might be a better fit cost wise.
