“My order was left unsecure on my doorstep and vanished before I could get to it. Meg Rivers refused to send a replacement and appeared to think that it was me, not them, who should make a claim to Royal Mail for the loss. I received no response to my follow-up email. Thisis very poor customer service.”

“Good cake, very bad website ordering experience. The cake itself was delicious, so said my daughter to whom it was sent for an Easter treat. However, the website suggested it could be delivered on Easter Saturday. When I went to place the order (on Thursday evening before Easter), I found to my shock that somehow the order was completed with payment taken before I thought the process was complete, and especially before I had a chance to indicate or explore when delivery might take place, or state where the delivery should go to. Indeed there were no delivery options. It was all inexplicably quick, and I could not reverse anything. I was then faced with having chosen a very expensive gift (for me) with additional delivery costs, for it to come to me. There was no way of contacting the company (I tried phoning many times and the line simply cut out, not even an answerphone message) - it was explained later that this was because it was after hours followed by a bank holiday - and the phone/emails were not being answered. I also sent several emails marked urgent asking for the delivery address to be changed. Fortunately the owner was monitoring emails intermittently and eventually I did get an email reply from her the following day, so the address was changed and the cake did go to my daughter and not to me, though it did not arrive until the Tuesday after Easter. I was very disappointed by this experience, and nice though the cake was reported to be, I won’t risk ordering again. Had I known that delivery was not possible before Easter, I would not have ordered the cake and would have looked for something else for my daughter.”

I'm sorry you didn't find the delivery part of the website easy to navigate - we try to be as clear as possible with cut-off times and delivery service options etc. I'm very sorry we won't see you again. “Annual cake club membership is a regular Christmas gift from my lovely lady for I am very fond of cake and Meg Rivers always delivers - in many more ways than one. The Easter Simnel cake is a perennial favourite: they’re all extraordinarily good and never, ever disappoint. Thank you. PS The Cherry Cake runs a very close second and when it arrives it is actually my favourite until the next delivery. 😋🍰😋🍰😋🍰”
