“Paid upfront for Home Buyers Report, reasonably priced at £300. However survey planned for 13/9/16, I received the report by e-mail on 26/9/16, after phoning to chase. I was then advised by the selling estate agent that the surveyor had not returned the keys to them. I am told that they are experiencing problems arranging their return. not very professional !”

“It was helpful but the company I chose SAM were very poor in the way they managed the job and simply sub-let the survey to another survey company. I would not use them again.”

“I was happy with the quick response by surveyors but slightly disappointed by the surveyor I chose who although quoted the cheapest price made errors attaching epc and legionella reports twice and also put me down as a Miss instead of putting my husband and I on the report.Unprofessional I thought! Chris You send his name was quite abrupt and would not send another one amended to me. I'm a landlord and need accuracy.”

“Service was easy to use and forwarded several possible surveyors. But these surveyor details were no suitable, they all failed to reply promptly or not at all when I was seeking a homebuyer report. Also when I did chase the surveyors they were booked out for at least 10 -14 days. The site needs to be improved to allow for a suitable date / dates to be selected and only surveyors with availability should be forwarded.”

“Useful for contacts. Job however was small and as suspected no contractor bothered to contact me. Usual thing unfortunately, if you are willing to offer them a big well paying job they are attracted like flies to a dungheap - offer them a small job and nothing transpires.”

“I found the list of surveyors you provided to be very useful, particularly the qualifications and telephone numbers. However,of the three enquiries I made two produced quotes widely different from your estimates and did not include the Vat element.Some addresses were evidently incorrect. I was able to negotiate an acceptable fee and was impressed with the speed with which the survey was completed. I now await delivery of the written report, having heard from the surveyor that nothing untoward came to light. So, some good, some poor.”

Hi Annette. Thanks for your comment. I am sorry to hear that you only had one reply to your request. We do encourage our all of Suppliers to contact people who request estimates - but we have found that sometimes they are worried that they will be intruding and so wait for you to call them! I would really recommend that you give some of them a call as I am sure they will be only too happy to help.

“I had one reply from guy who did EPCs when I wanted floorplans, another from surveyor offering floorplans at £25 which later turned out to be for studios only and a third quoting £225 +VAT when normal price £40! I wouldn't recommend this site.”

“The information comes through really quickly both on the website and via an email but a bit more clarification on the types of survey would be useful as I still can't ascertain which type I need, Also, given the name of the website, LOCAL surveyors direct, it would be useful to get contacts just from local firms. However I've been contacted only by firms who are really nowhere near me, who don't or rather didn't come up on the initial list provided when I did my search, and the ones who were on the list as being the closest, and actually LOCAL, either didn't contact me or I have had some problem getting in touch with them. Early days yet though, so it might be better than I thought.”
