“Sylvain listens so carefully to what you have in mind, is 110% conscientious about delivering exactly what you are hoping for - and delivers beyond expectations...and he's lovely too! He cut my hair today (again) and I'm so pleased, thank you! Claire has done my highlights a number of times and as I'm a blond/grey she knows how to blend the final colours with the toner to make it look natural. Good news is that the colour remains for a long time, something to keep in mind for the cost-conscious. Emilia does the best head-massage in town - worth going just for that! :-)”

“Claire is a skilled haircutter/stylist. I just moved to the area from the US, where it took me many years to find someone who could cut my wavy and curly hair. Claire had it sorted in minutes and I walked out with the cut I want, using my natural wave and requiring no blow drying. She's also a lovely human being! One area for improvement, Anne Veck: please make it easier to tip your stylists! I was not allowed to add a tip to my credit card or to be given change for a large bill. ("Not since Covid," I was told.) When they've earned a tip--make it easy for them to get it!!”

On the subject of tipping, the reason we don't accept tips by card is because once the tip enters our till system we would have to include it in the stylist's wages and it it would then be subject Income Tax & NI. The only way to avoid this is to stick to cash tips. I'm sorry that the "Covid" reason you were given was wrong. Keith, Anne Veck Oxford

“Great service from Melissa. The salon was tidy and welcoming. My hair was in need of a trim and treatment after recently having a baby, The olaplex treatment left my hair feeling soft shiny and healthy. Melissa did a great job , after cutting she straightened my hair to finish. Very happy with the end result. Thank you again, positive experience and would happily return.”

“A fabulous wash and blow dry for my daughter that lasted a week! Thank you Emicia, the Italian! Also great tips were shared for nails in the area. Wonderful to return with my daughter from Melbourne, Australia, after having my hair done there 2001-2004!”

“I asked Sylvain to give me a funky, low maintenance short hair cut and he did just that! He gave me several options on how to wear my fabulous new style and also suggested options for colour at my next visit. I felt totally at ease as a new customer and will definitely be back! Thank you :)”

“Just brilliant! I’ve just had my third appointment with Claire at Anne Veck and she has rescued my hair from a botched wonky cut at another salon and dealt with patchy box dye! My hair is looking healthy, happy and beautifully cut with a natural looking colour and highlights. Perfect!”

“I had an amazing experience at Anne Veck with Claire. She listened to what I wanted and made a perfect job of my hair. I was so happy with the care, attention and skill that Claire had when applying my highlights. She blended the colours so well and the placement of the highlights is just so perfect that even when the wind blows they are in the right places. My hair felt so soft and silky after I left the salon I could not stop touching it. One of my colleagues’s comments was “it looks so creamy”. I definitely recommend Claire and the salon. I would not trust anyone else to do my hair.”

“I have naturally curly hair and have had my hair cut three times by three different hairdressers at Anne Veck as I wanted to find the best hairdresser at the salon that could cut my curly hair. My last and most recent visit to the salon was with Anne herself. I felt that Anne's haircut was technically how my hair should have been cut, that is as she said ensuring that the layer to length ratio was correct. The previous haircuts at her salon had left my curls to grow long and drop out such that I found it difficult to style my hair. Whilst Anne's approach to cutting my hair ensured that most of the curls bounced back, she didn't actually cut my hair in a style that suited my face. Now I have a hairstyle that is the shape of a triangle and which does nothing for me. She also cut my hair too short as I like my hairstyle to be a bit longer. To summarise, Anne just gave me a standard hair cut for curly hair, but didn't ensure that she gave me a hairstyle that I liked. After having visited Anne's salon three times, this is the third time I have had my hair cut and am having difficulty styling it myself. I won't be visiting Anne's salon again.”

“I wanted to do something different with my hair without going too short and Sylvain came up with suggestions that I felt suited me and my lazy approach to styling my hair. I also feel that Anne Veck are doing what they can to be sustainable.”

“I saw Sylvain for colour and he not only an artist with scissors but the colour result he gave me was amazing. Originally we planned pink but he had an idea and we went with it. I am so glad that I got to experience Sylvain's artistry and am so pleased with the result. Thank you again Sylvain and see you soon!”
