“I appreciated that you kept me informed after I made the order and the bird arrived promptly, it was the size stipulated and it was kept cold. It was a nice tasting bird when cooked. However, the bird was badly plucked which spoilt it for me, it took a considerable time to pluck it and I didn’t get them all out, so none of the skin was eaten, which is usually a favourite part in our family! If it was just a few I wouldn’t have mentioned it but it was definitely the worst plucked bird I’ve ever had. I’m sorry because I would really have liked to have written an excellent review!review.”

Dear Laura, We are sorry to read that you were disappointed with the preparation of your rooster and thank you for your feedback. As you may have read, our Roosters are game hung and dry plucked by hand and hence some quills may have been missed and they will appear different to other quality birds you may have seen in the supermarket. We are very pleased it arrived in good time and tasted wonderful however and do appreciate your feedback.

“Although the bird was most delicious it only weighed in at 3.2 kilos and we paid for 4 kilos. Needless to say there wasn’t much left after feeding a six person family.”

“I’ve only had a couple of meals so far from my delivery. I’m not convinced yet by the flavour - I was expecting something quite different from my usual free range supermarket chicken. Apart from the flavour of the chicken, I was pretty appalled at the packaging. So much plastic and polystyrene. I’ve had other chilled meat deliveries that have been much more sensitively (and still effectively) packaged.”

“Inconsistent. The quality of herb fed chicken is wonderful however, at times you do not always get what you pay for. Previously in one of my orders I received items that were passed the expiration date or expiring on the delivery date. In my recent order, I ordered 5 medium birds (2kg /4.4lbs) and 1 large bird (2.5kg /5.5lbs). Instead of a large bird I received a small bird (1.8kg /4lbs ) See photo attached. I expect to receive the same level of care taken when packaging a delivery for Fortnum & Maison. However with regards to the quality of the birds 100% delicious.”

“Disappointed with recent order, joints were much smaller than normal. Taste & quality as good but would rather pay more for better sized portions. Do hope present success does not lead to a lowering of standards as so often happens.”

“I purchased 6 X 2kg chickens. I've frozen 5 and roasted 1. So far I think the most I can say is that I'm "underwhelmed". The chicken was tasteless and rubbery and not a patch on the one I get from my local butchers. It was ok once I out it in a chicken & sweetcorn soup but that's an expensive chicken for soup 🤷‍♂️”

“Arrived beautifully packed and great service . Wasn’t a lover of the diced leg meat as it had far to much sinew on . The chicken roasted lovely but wasn’t the softest I have had . It was still very nice .”

“More granularity in your ordering/pricing structure would enable customers to more accurately match their order to their catering requirements, and at a fairer price. In the first week of October 2019 I ordered, and paid for, a turkey crown 3-4 kg in weight. I received a turkey crown weighing 3.05 kg in a box marked 3-3.5 kg. I was rather disappointed, and this is a pity because the turkey itself was good.”
