We went for a trial and then at the end of the session we were told we had to sign up there and then, as there wasn't an opportunity to think about it and sign up online. My child didn't love the trial session but we were reassured that she'd likely get used to it. The sign up policy was unclear and after the 1st month when it was obvious that she didn't enjoy the sessions and didn't participate we were told we'd have to do another 2 months. My child basically sat on the side so this would have been a huge waste of time and money. We completed another month and then postponed the last month. The team eventually said it was fine for us to not do that month. I'd like to take my second child who might enjoy it more, but I wouldn't go back to the Watford one, given our experience.

Good concept and space but can feel very cliquey if you join part way or don’t know people who already go there

Felt pressured to do a baby group so my child would be able to get into the toddler group as those children have priority. The baby group room was small and over filled, the lady was loud and was all too much for us. I don’t want to feel pressured to pay monthly for a group Just to get my child into an older group so I didn’t go back just wasn’t the sort of place I wanted to be.

This session was sold as an Easter Extravaganza. To be honest I was so disappointed with it. 45 mins of using the play gym, and then the usual songs for a few mins and a very basic and disappointing attempt of an Easter hunt. I’d seen other companies Easter parties and this felt lazy and sold as something it certainly was not. I wouldn’t go back.

We cancelled our membership because the manager, Pav was awful and unpleasant to speak to. I don't want my child around her.

Gymboree used to be excellent when we first joined when Emily and Claire where there but recently it has really gone down hill. Staff are no where near as enthusiastic and it doesn’t have the same fun and energetic vibe. I do hope that this changes otherwise we will be withdrawing our membership

I had some email correspondence about booking an initial trial class. At first the communication was good but after asking for more availability because I couldn’t make a weekend slot the communication dried up from Gymboree’s side. I’ve now sent two emails without a reply. It’s disappointing not to get the chance to come to a class, free trial or not. I’m hoping to hear back soon, or if not I will hope for a case of third time lucky.

Honestly I was expecting more, the location in Chiswick is very small, good for babies until 12 months, a noisy and strong fan is constantly on, in the direction of the children, pay attention to their aggressive policy of paying 2 months even if you do not go. the staff are not flexible and understanding, we wanted to go until September because nursery is starting, but they disappointed us and we will not go at all. Loss of money for 2 months!

My child enjoyed the classes initially however after a few months he started to lose interest ( 3 different classes have been attended now). I feel that the classes are too similar each week which does not always keep children interested. Classes would benefit from having 2 educators so that if some children are not joining in they could try to engage with them more. I have seen some very good educators there however there is one who is quite abrupt/rude and makes parents ( and the child) feel uncomfortable if they are not ‘joining in’. Husband observed this on many occasions and was not happy me taking our child back!

Thank you for taking the time to feedback on your experience at our St Albans site - it's very much appreciated. We would love to chat with you further about this matter, please contact us at stalbans@gymboreeclasses.co.uk Thank you.
Some Gymboree Play & Music branches might be better than others, however from the beginning my experience with the staff at Gymboree St Albans branch has been little disappointing. The same applies to the quality of some of the classes they have on offer. I don't believe that add that much value to babies/toddlers development but are a way for parents to socialise with other parents. Your child is either social and happy or it isn't. Few times I have not been informed about classes being cancelled and having travelled there purposely for those classes I felt pushed into attending other classes happening at similar time, which were not beneficial for my child. This is an expensive and not effective way to use your membership/money! The rules of the membership are not flexible at all. Staff is stand-offish and not consumer focused. Also you cant use your membership in other Gymboree affiliates in different locations. If you have a chance to ask other mothers for their honest, confidential opinion, you will notice its not very different to mine

Unenthusiastic playworkers. Small space not sufficient for 2+.

Hi, thanks for your feedback, we are sorry to hear about your experience. Please could you email headoffice@gymboreeclasses.co.uk with more detailed feedback so that we can look into the matter, thank you Susannah
The teachers and facilities are great but there are never enough kids in the class to make this as buzzy and fun as it should be for toddlers. We used to go to another branch which was always full so it's a shame the classes here tend only to have 2-4 children in them regardless of the day or time.

Gymboree open gym facilities are not clean and grubby looking. Always a certain stale or bad smell lingering. The staff seem unfriendly and disinterested. Witnessed a certain distressed lady whose baby had fallen and had a cut lip, the staff didn't blink an eyelid or offer help rather just continued talking amongst themselves. In the end another mother calmed the lady and her baby down and offered advice and help. For the amount paid monthly these standards are unacceptable.

We really enjoyed the baby classes with Holly, but since joining the next class up, the teaching has not been anywhere near as good. The only reason we continue to go is for the interaction with the other babies and the soft play access after the class.
