I had car insurance with Hasting Direct and at the end of the term, they automatically renewed my policy without my knowledge or consent, at a cost of £98 above another company.
My car had been off the road for 4 week and so hadn't needed any insurance and when I contacted Hastings Direct within the 'apparent' cooling off period, they issued me with a £29 bill for fees and insurance cover I did not know about or want. DISCRACEFUL COMPANY!!!!
I am now going to get legal advice from the 'Consumers Omusdsman' and advise everyone to do the same!!!!”

“Their black box is a scam. Don't waste your time with them. I had my policy for 4 months and they cancelled it saying my score was too low. The damn box wasn't even connected for half that time. I'm a new driver and a very nervous driver so I don't think my driving was the problem... Save your money and time, get your insurance somewhere else.”

“I would give a negative if I had the option. I advised Hastings direct over 3 weeks ago NOT to renew my car insurance, but they choose to ignore my emails. Today they renewed car insurance which I did not want, and put me in an unarranged overdraft. I have been in contact with them and they are only replying as I have involved he Ombudsman. They are charging me £20 cancellation fee for insurance which I advised I did not want, and not refunding me the full amount. These please are making money on the back on people like us! They have poor communication and are quick to take your money. I will never be using this company again”

I phoned Hasting Direct and spoke to Mischa who was a extremely helpful lady who explained things to me, then relooked at the quote and came back with a competitive price inline with other online quotes. I accepted the quote and stayed with Hasting Direct. I would like to say this was a decision was not just taken on the price but more to the professionalism and helpfulness of Mischa. “I was hit by a Hastings customer on 1 st Feb my car was not picked up until 25 May my car battery had died by then got my car back now l have warning lights on even thought Hastings okayed a new battery they do not want to know as it was not due to the accident have made a formal complaint but it could take up to 8 weeks also no one rings you back when they say its shocking”
