“3D printer was well packaged, but the glass build plate was not. Received a box containing a 3D printer covered in broken glass. Dream 3D claimed, and I quote... "I’ve just spoken to Ultimaker UK about the smashed build plate. Its not something they’ve come across before actually but I guess the courier must have dropped the box upside down and smashed the glass." Despite the fact that the build plate is shipped on the bottom of the box, not the top... When I expressed my concern that glass shards had probably made their way into the very sensitive motors / gears, I was told to not worry about it. When I asked to speak to an actual engineer, I was told they do not employ any (they are just a reseller). They are sending me a new glass build plate, but do not want to RMA the entire 3D printer (understandably as it would cost them... 60 GBP?). Now I'm fairly worried that the printer will either not work properly when first turned on, or glass shards in the internal mechanism will dramatically shorten its life.”

Thanks for your review. Really sorry that your build plate was damaged in transit, we do our best to ensure that the machine reaches you safely. In fact when the stock arrives from Ultimaker, the build plate has a little less packaging so we added some bubble wrap ourselves to give it some extra protection. The built plate is packaged at the top of the box to try and keep it as safe as possible. This is actually the first instance we have had with the build plate being damaged in transit. We pride ourself on our high quality support for all our customers so were keen to have your 3D printer up and running as soon as possible. We spoke to Ultimaker’s technical team about this and they informed us that it would be very unlikely that this would cause any issues with the printer and that sending a replacement built plate would be the quickest way to have the printer up and running. Be reassured that if there are any issues we will of course sort them straight away. Best regards, The Dream 3D Team
