“DD contacted me online after previously expressing an interest. We eventually remortgaged with them in December 2021 after first beginning the process in July. The good: Simon Tai is very friendly, knowledgeable and quick. He was good at offering solutions when different lenders didn’t come up to our needs. I would rely on Simon again in future. The bad: the admin staff at DD seem to be less capable. Failed to tell me that in July-September when we didn’t progress the initial offer with Santander that it would end up closing the file, causing me dozens of hours of correspondence and phone calls to Santander and it’s solicitors eventually resulting in a complaint owing to the lateness of the remortgage costing us extra in lost interest. Santander were quick to partially concede responsibility but they did point out that DD should have kept me better informed at the relevant time. On another occasion I had to ask several times for the prior valuation to be cross referred with the “new” file, which DD admin staff didn’t seem to understand. On another occasion they asked why my employer was ostensibly in Nottingham whereas I had given prior instructions that I work in London. All of those little things were overcome in the end, but not without a lot of messing around and a formal complaint by me (I am a lawyer so used to this) I received some money back and an apology from the lender, but it would have perhaps been apt for DD to reduce their fee bearing in mind their poor admin contributed to the delay too. In any event I am giving four stars based on Simon’s charisma and ability and the fact in the end he got us a much better deal that we could have got ourselves. Worth the fee but could do with better admin processes.”

“Deal Direct handled my case with spectacular efficiency and friendly customer service. They handled everything, to make moving my mortgage completely hassle-free. My only criticism is with the legal team they appointed - Optima Legal. Optima Legal is by far the worst solicitors firm I have had the pleasure of dealing with. Consistently difficult to communicate with - it is as if everyone is out of office! They are the sole reason why my remortgage has yet to be completed. If it were not for Deal Direct using Optima Legal, I would have rated a full 6 stars.”
