“I have used this firm in the past and been pleased with the service and products but the last order was excessively delayed and I went to another company to get my stuff. Despite a promise to ring me when my order was redy to dispatch (in order for me to cancel the delivery) I ended up with twice what I needed”

Hi, thank you for your review and I wanted to reply to let you know I have looked into this. You order was delayed due to stock issues with the manufacturer, I can also see you we have spoken to you several times and a manager spoke to you when you asked. I don't understand your comment with regards to wanting us to ring you when in stock so you could cancel the order? We would have been happy to cancel the order at anytime especially if you had sourced the materials from someone else, cancelling an order is never a problem. If you no longer require the items, as you have said you have twice as much, then please send them back and we can arrange a refund for you. We always want to fix problems if they arise and are sorry we have not met your expectations this time. Regards C & A Building Products

“Bought an item for £36 and requested online it delivered. At no point did I request that the item was to be picked up as I live North East Scotland. However, when the item was ready I received a call and email stating it was ready for collection. I emailed them back stating I had requested delivery and they had the audacity to say the delivery charge would be £350. For a £36 item! Luckily my purchase was refunded. I think these guys should be checking and adjusting their website accordingly to make sure there is no confusion with any delivery to any part of the UK.”

With regards to your order that you place you selected collect from store, this is the only option due to your location and as we do not deliver to your area that is why. This is made clear on the website both in the basket and when checking out as you have through the step to make payment which again it would be highlighted collection. We did contact you to discuss the order and explained that due to the location is out side of our delivery areas we explained the transport costs. Whilst £350 seems excessive this is a distance of 560 miles each way which would be a cost of around £580 in diesel to drop of a £30 sheet. What we would do is send this with other orders to help reduce the cost however this was not acceptable to you. Clearly you did not want to make the 1100+ mile round trip to collect it, i hope this explains a bit about the cost of logistics

“Bought paint from them and when it arrived it had only 3.5 months best before date expiry. When I questioned this with them they’ve simply ignored my email, customer service or simple courtesy in reply doesn’t exist.”

“Excellent service, I had to return the item due to my own mistake and have it trimmed down more. No issue they did this with pleasure for me also I have arthritic hands and cannot grip things easily and the young man who served me got it out of my car, trimmed it down and then put it back in my car for me.”

“i first used this company in a previous job over 20 years ago. I have since used them twice for projects at home. I beleive thier prices are competitve and like the 'no nonsense' honest style. The delivery experience has been smooth with good communication. Website is a little clunky but overall I think these are great folks to deal with. Many thanks.”

“We received good customer service from Martin and provided all the dimensions of the garage roof that we need to cover with EPDM roofing. The good arrived promptly but without one of the components which the supplier has admitted isn't clear on their website. C&A provided the missing item free of charge.”
