My experience of Beggs in Peterhead was very poor. The assistant manager just guessed my daughters width fitting when ordering in the shoes so they unsuprisingly didnt fit. She was then very rough and was almost shouting at my daughter who started crying so we left and bought elsewhere.

We appreciate the time you have taken to review your service in our Peterhead store. I’m sorry to hear that your experience didn’t meet your expectations. We pride ourselves as a business on great customer service with experienced and trained staff so take any negative feedback seriously. After investigating your visits to the shop I understand your child was measured by Kathleen our Trainee Manager. Kathleen is a fully certified Clarks children’s fitting specialist with over 5 years’ experience. Your preferred style was not in stock so Kathleen offered for the shoes to be ordered into store for you to try. The shoes arrived within 3 working days. When you arrived instore, the Store Manager (who is Society of Shoe Fitters trained as well as a qualified Clarks fitter) checked the fitting of the shoes on your child. At this point it was clear to see that the length was fine, but they were a bit too narrow. Unfortunately, the measurement of a child’s foot is always only taken as a guide as different shapes and styles of shoe will fit differently so there was no guarantee they would fit right the first time round. Our Manager offered to order the next width fitting up (a G fit). You seemed happy to do this, so the shoes were re ordered. The second pair arrived within 3 days again. Kathleen checked the fitting of these shoes and unfortunately, the 2nd pair were slightly too wide! Clarks only do width fittings in E, F, G and H and there is no F1/2 fit. I think the fact our staff were honest enough to say that neither fitting was suitable was a real credit to them. We have tried our absolute best to provide the highest standard of service to you. Based on our investigation it is unfair to indicate we haven’t fitted the shoes correctly. With regards to any of our staff being “very rough” and “almost shouting” at your child. All the team have children of their own and are experienced fitters. They have assured me they did not behave in this manner and have requested they pass on apologies to you that you felt they came across in this way. . When fitting babies/toddlers with shoes it can be tricky as they like to wriggle and sometimes can get upset at a stranger trying to handle their feet and legs. In this instance an assertive approach may be required so they can check the fit of the shoes is suitable. I assure you we do value all customers who enter the store and will work extremely hard to always improve our customer service. With this in mind we would appreciate you giving us a second chance to measure and fit your child in the future. Kind regards, James

Unfortunately I tried the shoes in the shop, when they did not fit a new pair were ordered online and I paid in advance. I did not notice that I was required to keep the box when the shoes arrived and as they were too big I took them back with the receipt. Whereupon I was told that company policy requires the box to accompany the shoes before they can be exchanged. As they are of no use to me I am selling these on eBay in mint condition. I have always bought echo shoes with your company and never experienced any problems before and I am surprised and disappointed this has happened. Although I did not read the terms I would certainly have kept the box if the assistant had told me. On this occasion I am unable to give a satisfactory review.

Sad to say they refuse to refund postage even when goods not of saleable quality. No apology and I’m out of pocket. Poor show Beggs - other retailers are available.

Thank you for your feedback. I can confirm that the shoes returned have been inspected and they have no issues regarding manufacturing faults. The construction of the shoe is a PU injected moulded sole unit to the upper and the big benefit of this is that there are no screws or stitches required. The joints are seamless and durable over time. You have received the full normal refund as per our normal practice. Kind regards, James

I was charged but have never received my shoes. I ordered them May 19th and it’s now June 10. Never received a card that they tried to deliver them yet Royal Mail says they did but no one was home. No way to contact them with no delivery #

Hello Carolann Thank you for your feedback. I can confirm I have replied to your email letting you know a delivery was attempted on the 26th May but no one was present to sign for the order. It is currently waiting to be picked up at your local collections office or you can rearrange delivery. Delivery for the UK to US was 7 days which is fantastic service. I'm disappointed a card was not left by your local courier as this should have been done. Kind regards, James

When I tried on the shoes, the sole kept moving up in the shoe and then became gathered behind your toes. Had to return them, no use at all.

Hello, Thank you for feedback on the insole of the shoe. A foam insole could have been purchased and placed in the shoe to replace the branded insole, having a more solid insole may have resolved this issue. I hope you visit again in the future and find an alternative. Kind regards, James

They did not explain that you cant return items that are not in specific states. I emailed them and they ignored me. I think this company is not in the US and shady. Now I am stuck with shoes that don't fit and were expensive. Buyer beware.

Hello, I have read your comments and can confirm you can return any shoe bought from us by sending them back to our address label included on your invoice. I can confirm your email was replied to, stating how we are a UK based company and accept any return within 30 days or customer receiving the goods. I ordered sandals on line and paid with PayPal I waited about a week to receive an email to say I could collect them from my local store in Inverness. I decided to go in to the store and ask if they were in and I was told they had come in but were faulty so the store had emailed me. The store has not emailed me !

I didn't get the size which I ordered. What I got is totally different. My other problem was I didn't get a write information. I need one available phone number . American number which someone pick up and I can communicate. I think when we give a service, that's the minimum what have to provide.

Ordered and paid for on the 19th Dec. Got e mail acknowledgment and have not heard anything since. Not good enough. You have my money. I have no shoes. Will be in to shop tomorrow for refund.

Hello, thank you for your feedback. You purchased the shoes on the 27th December and they were shipped the following day. International delivery can take 10-15 working days and please bare in mind your delivery time also includes 2 bank holidays. Unfortunately one of the boots is defective and we are therefore having to return them. Please send a reimbursement for the postage. My mother who is 88 and whom I have only recently persuaded to purchase things off the internet has had her confidence severely knocked by receiving this sub standard merchandise. It's costing us far more in terms of adverse psychological consequences than merely the, return postage!

Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately on inspection of the goods being returned there is no faulty with the shoes. The mock reptile effect will always be unique to each shoes and can not be identical from the method they are manufactured. The shoes are in new condition and purchased straight from our Rieker supplier. Please accept our apologies on the matter and hope further online purchases can be made.
