“It was easy to discuss the holiday we were looking for and the options available to us. Jack helped us plan the most suitable itinerary and it worked very well for us. The hotels were all comfortable and clean. The service was excellent in the Hotel Degenija at Plitvice and the Hotel Bastion in Zadar. However the location of the Hotel Cvita in Split was not very pleasant, quite a long gruelling walk into the city and the staff were not as on the ball. Also, there was nowhere to change near the pool area. The service from the car rental was also poor. We waited over an hour to be attended to and the car we were given was badly scratched and dented. We also discovered that the windscreen wash bottle was empty, so it clearly hadn't been checked thoroughly before being handed over. However, the young woman who did serve is was friendly and did a good job of noting the damage to the car. We would certainly consider using Balkan Escape again, but be a bit more discerning about the hotels we were choosing.”

“Everything about the holiday and booking process was fantastic. Jack was super helpful and efficient. Accommodation (Lemongarden & Splendida Palace) was superb. All transfers etc. were exactly as set out in the itinerary. Croatia and the people of Croatia were great. We will definitely return and use Balkan Escapes again. First class all round.”

“Jack at Balkan Escape arranged a fantastic four centre holiday to Croatia taking in Split, Brac, Korcula and Dubrovnik. From start to finish everything went very smoothly all taxi and ferry transfers were well organised with no hitches. The hotels were all great choices but the Splendida in Split was our favourite although a special mention for the Lemongarden on Brac and the More in Dubrovnik ad they were also fantastic hotels. If you are looking for a company to organise a break in Croatia look no further than Balkan Escape and Jack they were fantastic five star service.”

“Following the pandemic, we eventually got away on our Croatian tour after originally booking the holiday back in 2019. Jack at Balkan Escapes was really helpful in putting together our itinerary, which included Split, Havar, Korcula and Zadar. Jack also organised all our hotels and transfers, which we were very pleased with. I would certainly recommend Balkan Escapes and we are seriously thinking about booking another Balkan tour with them the year after next.”

“We have just returned from Puteus Palace Hotel on Brac island and had a fantastic holiday. The hotel is only small (15 rooms). It is beautifully appointed and the staff are exceptionally friendly. The restaurant is in the attractive gardens and there is a beautiful pool The little port of Pusica is extremely pretty and quiet with a few restaurants and cafes. We would like to thank Jack for organising the holiday. The transfers and ferry crossing all worked like clockwork. We have no hesitation in recommending Balkan Escape and look forward to booking another holiday with them.”

“We were so impressed with Balkan Escape and the itinerary Jack recommended for our first trip to Croatia. We had 3 nights in Dubrovnik/Lapad, 7 nights in Korcula and 4 in Sipan. “Having never visited Croatia we spoke with Jack at Balkan Escape who was extremely knowledgeable and helpful and after listening to the kind of experience we were looking for certainly delivered. Any questions or additional advice we needed Jack was quick to respond to. The holiday exceeded our expectations from start to finish. We stayed on Sipan Island at Hotel Bozica, a beautiful hotel overlooking the sea. Luxury transfer from the airport to the ferry port where we were taken by speedboat to the island to stay in a spacious, airy room with a seaview balcony. I can't speak highly enough of the hotel staff they were all so helpful and friendly. We would highly recommend Balkan Escape and will definitely book through them again in the future. “Just had 3 nights in each of Dubrovnik , Korcula , and Split organised by Jack at Balkan Escapes . Booked 2019 so great to finally get away . It was a really well planned trip with all flights, transfers, ferrys and hotels perfect . We found the walk to hotel at Korcula from the ferry more like 30mins than the expected 10 mins ,as with cases the road needed to be followed ,rather than sea front. Could have done with directions as our phones let us down re directions . Similar at Split ferry stops at far end of port so was 20 mins or so . However not a big issue . Start at Spilt maybe better as its livelier but flight cost played a part in our route. Would recommend Balkan escapes and use in future”

“• Did you feel that your holiday needs and requirements were met? Totally • Was your accommodation/transfers as you had expected? Transfers: our flight was delayed by 2hrs 30 mins but, although other passengers had their transfers waiting for them at arrivals, we waited 15minutes and, on arrival the driver disappeared into the toilets for another five minutes. The vehicle itself was not clean and didn’t get a good first impression. On the other hand, our transfer back to the airport at the end of the holiday was very smooth and couldn’t be faulted. Car hire: absolutely no problems with the car hire but we did have difficulty finding the office. It might have been us but we weren’t expecting the sign ‘Rent a Car’ to be Global Cars. The office was up a flight of stairs at the back of a restaurant and not really on the street address we were given. Hotels: Hotel Degenija was in a good location for Plitvice Lakes with a variety of places to eat if we didn’t want to eat in the hotel itself. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was clean and spacious. Hotel Marul (stayed twice during our holiday) was disappointing but I think the photos on their website are misleading. They suggest much larger rooms and more spacious verandas. We requested a room with a veranda and they were very small both times - in the second room we couldn’t really move with two suitcases in the only floor space available. The website states that superior rooms have a sofa in them but this is not the case - it is either a sofa or a veranda, or neither in our case. On both occasions, no toiletries were provided, contrary to what is stated on their website - I did a lot of research when questioning whether we had been given a superior or standard room. The rooms are slightly shabby - the bathroom doors in two of the three rooms wouldn’t close. Twice we had towels with holes in. Saying that, the staff were amazing, especially the waiter at breakfast, and the location made up for everything - it suited our needs perfectly. I would be happy to stay there again now my expectations have been managed. The staff were also happy to relocate us when we questioned the room size. • How was the service provided by Balkan Escape? Excellent. Jack made sure he had a clear understanding of what we required and was very efficient in making the arrangements. We were kept informed at every stage and informed, in advance, of when information would be needed & when the documentation would be provided. When we complained about the room, Jack was very diplomatic and supportive. He was quick to respond at all times. • Are there any areas of either the booking process or your holiday that Balkan Escape could improve? No. • Would you book through Balkan Escape again, and would you recommend us to friends/family? Yes, definitely. • Any further comments Only a couple of suggestions that might help others: I’ve attached a photo to show the location of the car rental office - it might be useful for you to pass on to other clients. It might be worth mentioning to clients how free parking works at Hotel Marul: there is a public car park behind the hotel, you take a ticket and present it at the hotel half an hour before you want to leave the car park. They ask you to take a photo a qr code (the waiter at breakfast sorted us out very easily), which you then present on leaving the car park. It’s all very straight forward but visitors could misguidedly pay for parking first, thinking they would then be refunded?”
