“Good cooperation for questions / queries about the proposed holiday was appreciated this made it easy to facilitate the final decision. The final itinerary was good and informative. The booking process was explained and made easy for required information. Required information boarding passes, transfers and bookings are all provided in good time. President Valamar in Dubrovnik was great with all the facilities you could want. Great experience friendly staff and a good level of service Hotel Marko Polo by Aminess in Korcula ok as a base to explore. Facilities and room tired in need of updating. The room was dark you could easily see bits that needed attention. Bit of a musty carpet smell. The floor flooded in the bathroom when trying to use the shower. Some staff are a bit off-putting and short when asking questions not helpful. Would reconsider a stay here. Corrected transfer time on return leg pick up from hotel was picked up by Jack in plenty of time. Would book again and recommend Balkan. Jack and Kayleigh were good. Overall had a good experience. Croatia was great. Should have checked out Hotel Marko Polo better for the second centre as when there we saw other options.”

“Balkan Escape took a lot of detailed care to put together an excellent package within our budget which met our wishes to visit Split and Dubrovnik, linking the two cities by ferry. The background advice on where to visit etc. was very helpful, pre-departure ‘paperwork’ was comprehensive and arrived in a timely fashion. Our last-minute queries were handled with great efficiency and understanding. All the pick-up and transfer arrangements worked perfectly, and the hotels were in superb locations and certainly merited their 4 star status. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and would highly recommend Balkan Escape to others.”

“The whole experience booking with Balkan was flawless. All our holiday requirements were met and any queries were answered promptly. We gave Balkan our destination and requirements and they came back with an itinerary that was perfect in every way including hotel, location and advice on trips etc. The airport transfers couldn't have been better - taxis arriving on time to and from airport. “Our trip to Croatia met all our expectations. All transfers were as planned, even though our outward flight was delayed by a couple of hours. We liked the three hotels we stayed in and staff were helpful, from carrying luggage to booking trips. It was unfortunate there were building works going on outside the hotel in Dubrovnik which meant taxis would not drive down the main road outside the hotel, though a member of hotel staff helped us take our luggage to a meeting point for the return airport transfer. We would book with Balkan Escape again, only suggestion would be to provide a printed copy of your itinerary that includes flight info etc with paperwork sent prior to departure.”

“We had booked a 10 day multi-centre trip in Croatia and Montenegro covering Split, Dubrovnik and Kotor Bay. Jack from Balkan Escapes spent a lot of time providing numerous different itineraries and hotels til I found what best suited what we wanted to do. All travel documents and info were sent through and everything was arranged perfectly. We had numerous different transfers between hotels, cities and countries and they all arrived on time in modern vehicles with English speaking drivers and dropped us off exactly where we needed to be. The accomodation recommended was great and the trip was absolutely perfect and Croatia has become one of my favourite countries!. We had one issue in Kotor where the hotel had been taken over by Hyatt and we were put in a room that we hadn't booked and when I contacted Balkan Escapes about it they immediately offered to help pay for an upgrade which was fantastic customer service. I genuinely cannot recommend them enough and will definitely be using them again. Highly recommended”

“The agency that put the trip together for us is very professional and thorough. We enjoyed the holiday, but were disappointed by lack of quality service and rudeness of some people. Most of all the taxi driver who met us at the airport who requested a tip as a first approach and ranted incoherently throughout the journey. Croatia is beautiful, but it's unreasonably expensive with no good value for money. You are not made to feel welcome. We recommend Balkan Escape as tour operator, but not Croatia as worthy destination.”

“With no experience or knowledge of Croatia, we booked a holiday through Jack at Balkan Escapes. He/they planned a 2 week September holiday for us taking into account our interests, offering a choice of hotels and suggestions for activities/trips in a 3 centre holiday (Split, Korcula and Brac). All the hotels, transfers, ferries and suggestions worked well and we thoroughly enjoyed our trip. Would recommend and use again.”

“I found Balkan Escapes online. I e mailed Jack with our ideas and he put together a trip for us, I changed my mind a couple of times , but he always replied promptly addressing the details I was unsure about. We really enjoyed our two centre holiday in Split and Dubrovnik. Taxi was waiting for us at airport as arranged and we were swiftly delivered to hotel. Hotel Civtat was family run with friendly staff. It was just as described in the information. We usually walked down into Split, but invariably caught a taxi back as it was uphill all the way…cost about €7. Perhaps the only downside of the location was that there were no bars or restaurants in the area, other than the hotel itself. We enjoyed the 4 hour ferry trip to Dubrovnik , arrangements went smoothly. Hotel Neptun had lovely location outside Dubrovnik town, several restaurants and pools to choose from. We particularly enjoyed the boardwalk into Lapad, where there were lots of restaurants. We had a problem with our taxi to the airport…this was no one’s fault, it was a serious accident, but this was dealt with exceptionally efficiently by Jack. We would not hesitate to book again with Balkan Escapes.”

“A few days in Slovenia. Thought that Slovenia was worth a visit as it offered variety with its interesting city, sea for swimming and picturesque lakes. It is a small country and only 2 ¼ hours flying time. A tailormade solution gave us the itinerary and accommodation with transfers; all organised at fairly short notice. Doing this yourself can at times be a drag. Doing it with the help of an experienced person you can do it quickly and get the right results without any hassle. Dealing with Balkan Escape gave us all this; questions raised were dealt with promptly, and the personal service resulted in the itinerary we wanted. We had good hotels and transfers went smoothly. English is spoken in most places; the people are courteous and the place is clean. Starting at Portoroz we stayed at the Kempinski were service was outstanding as was the food. You can swim in the sea or in the pool. The Kempinski has its own beach concession and the area is on a sandy beach. Do not expect to snorkel as the sand in this area is imported and the sea is not clear. While at Portoroz getting to Piran is easy by bus. There one can enjoy the narrow streets, Venetian architecture, and fish restaurants. Transferring to Ljubljana was only 90 minutes. A visit to the castle, a boat cruise and walks in the centre give you a good feel for the colourful city. There are lots of stalls for eating out as well as good restaurants. Our final stop was on Lake Bohinj staying at the comfortable Hotel Bohinj at Ribcev Laz. The hotel is only a few minutes’ walk from the lake, where you can get a boat trip to the other side and catch the funicular to Vogel ski centre at 1,535 m. The hotel has its own spa and sauna, which is included in the price. There is, of course, ample scope for walking and cycling. A few photos will help paint the picture – we enjoyed our 9-day trip and recommend it and if we were to return will book again with Balkan Escape.”
